This is a very pretty site. Tree lined with the sound of the sea nearby (access to beach from site) you can catch a glimpse of red dear, even on site if you are lucky. Beautiful rural area and could be a real bit of heaved. All facilities are spotless. Pitches vary in size. Ours was very cramped but we have a very big tent. My only down sides are this is a building site. But I have been assured the workmen don't start till 8.00am. Not much good for a lie in. Really would check for building work here before you book. Other than that it has the potential to be really great.

We had not been to Suffolk before but wanted to visit Southwold for a short break over a weekend, the site was pleasantly wooded, steps go down to the sea and beach. Pitches were backing on to the road at the back of the newly finished restaurant/pub, my husband and I ate in the restaurant, the meal was average price, all cooked superbly. Staff were polite and efficient, the bar area was modern but lacked seating areas for people who just wanted a drink. Apart from high stools to sit at, very modern, well designed though and pleasant. Roof top seating area for summer which was a lovely feature, our pitch had a bit of noise in the night from the road behind, as other reviews have said the location was ideal, heathland walks short distance away but we didn't have time to visit, we went into southwold which was magical a lovely place, didn't have time to walk to the beach but explored the pier and shops lovely place to sit and watch the world go by.
Aldeburgh had not got the same charm for us, dunwich was well worth visit, lots of history but we ran out time visit museum as was closed, campsite toilets were clean but in need of updating to keep to standards of rest of buildings, but was a lovely stay we didn't want to come home as so much more we wanted to see and do. We will be back as soon as we can. I forgot to say we also saw david from heartbeat walking along the pier, on checking it was him when we got home I saw that he was playing at the theatre in lowestoft, that made our day, my husband is a big fan. A beautiful place

We have just returned from this site, my family (wife, 18year old and 7 year old and me), I thought this site was good.! I am choosing my words very carefully.
We were booked on site for 10 days 2 touring caravans, no problem, last 5 mile to site is a little awkward when towing but we managed. Got to site and just felt a little let down. We were expecting a bigger site with all the trimmings etc.
Arrived at reception very pleasant and helpful staff, site looked clean ( already read the reviews about new buildings )these were open for our second night onwards. We was not expecting all the trees scattered around the site which made the site feel smaller than it actually is. There is a bar/club on site (newly built) which serves food, shop on site which has all your basics and a little more + it stayed open quite late which was good, there only seem to be one toilet/shower block which was ok and I only had to wait once for the free showers. Both mens and ladies where very clean which is a + and got cleaned everyday at 11am.Laundrette on site which was useful.
Ok I'll try to sum it up -
Bad points: kids were bored at night ( too young to go to park on there own and nothing for them to do in the bar/club). Could do with another shower/toilet block, less trees and maybe directions for nearest shops etc. Morrison is 45mins north by car (just before Lowestoft) Great Yarmouth is over an hour away! very very poor tv reception if any.
Good points : very clean well kept site. Very pleasant helpful staff, if it keeps growing think it will be a little/big gem ( its got the big site feel to it, very close to the beach (steps on site for access) reasonably priced.
If you like being in the woods you'll love it. My wife summed it up for us ' great weekend site but poor for our main big blow out long stay holiday
My summary was you get what you pay for, although you got just a little extra here.

Just spent a week at this site, Was given a spot under a tree and in the middle of other units which made siting the caravan and putting up the awning a little awkward.
In my opinion this is what I would call a 'working campsite', where the employees start at eight doing site maintenance and building other lodges, so expect early wake-up calls. The brand new club house had only opened a few days and its a great addition to the site, the shop is stocked with everyday items and some useful camping gear, the food is good and the supply of local beer went down well.
They have Karaoke on Tuesday nights which we could still hear at about half eleven same on Friday when they have a disco.
Tv reception is very hard to get as is mobile phone reception
Other local food shops were disappointing and expensive so we found ourselves going to Morrisons half hour away.
The site has its own steps down to a great beach which is also good for walking the dog.
Toilet blocks were clean but they need another block nearer the beach, three showers, three cubicles and four sinks don't seem enough for the amount of people there.
All in all I would rate this site quite highly if you enjoyed walking and cycling, which we did, and the addition of the clubhouse is great.
Would we go again? most certainly out of season, not so many kids around, this is a great campsite in a great secluded forest setting.

This was our third visit to Cliff House for three nights over half term. Reception staff friendly when making phone booking and on arrival. Playground well used by our 9 and 6 year old. Shop sells basic food items but opening hours not clearly advertised. They also let you freeze your own freezer packs for no charge - just have to put them into the slightly full freezer within the shop. The on-site pub serves food (didn't try on this occasion but was good when we previously stayed 3 years ago).
There are a steep set of steps leading down to the pebbley beach. The site is very wooded with plenty of trees for shade, and sheltering the site from wind, in fact we had a particularly shady spot that got hardly any sun, but I think that was unusual. Toilet facilities clean. Showers busy at peak times and they only stay on for about 4 or 5 minutes and the button is within the cubicle but outside the actual shower tray which is slightly annoying.
Southwold is a 20 minute drive. Large carpark (with toilets) on the seafront by the pier and glorious sandy beach. Town full of small independent shops, and a small Co-op food store. The restaurant on the pier serves delicious fish and chips, but like the rest of Soutwold gets very busy.
Walberswick beach pleasant for building sandcastles. Car park near beach charges around £3 for the day. Toilets and various small gift shops in the village.
This is a quiet site and great for combining a beach trip with the countryside. We have been before and will undoubtedly be going again!

We visited this site in the Whitsun Holiday, and despite booking ahead, could only get three nights after the Bank Holiday Monday, so expected it to be busy, and it was, but it never seemed overcrowded.
We were very pleasantly surprised to find that our pitch was in a pretty wooded area right near to the beach steps, which was ideal, as we were taking our new rescue dog on his first camping trip with us! The only drawback was the distance to walk to the toilet block, but it wasn't too bad.
The site had a very friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and is in an attractive wooded setting in a lovely part of Suffolk, with Southwold not far away, we had a couple of trips there. The beach adjacent to the site is clean and the kids and dog loved it.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the toilet / shower facilities were clean and nicely kept. The campsite is quiet and peaceful at night. The playground was very good for kids of all ages, and our children (16, 13, and 11) enjoyed making friends there.
We were lucky with the weather, which always helps. If I had any suggestions, it would be to extend the range of goods available in the shop, which was very limited, but again we did not find this a major problem, as there is a good Co-Op nearby.
All in all I would recommend this campsite as a great base for exploring this lovely area, for families with children of all ages, we will definitely be back!

We had some trepidation after being given a pitch under some trees. Our pitch was on bark. After a few hours you get used to this and it ends up being a lovely pitch. Level and certainly well drained,it was like being in a glade. There are some pitches on a field which, if you have young ones are probably better as they can play with neighbouring children.
There is no point taking bikes for children under 8 as the whole site has pebble drives. It was the first time we took the children's bikes and they couldn't ride them. Not a problem, If you have little ones, be aware. Bike rides outside of the park look really good and they hire out all sized bikes anyway.
The site offers the best & cleanest shower/toilets I have ever sean. They leave cloths folded in squares next to the sinks which invites you to wipe up excess water, wring out and leave for the next person. Very very clean. They are also checked every hour. The washing up area was spotless as well. I can't stand having to pick out debris from the previous washer upper to clean my stuff and always take a cloth and a tea towel to dry the area. Looks like everyone here does as well.
Site is excellent. Not an arcade in place. There is a small shop which seems to sell everything but really excel in pocket money toys for the children. There is a large adventure style play area with seats for those of you who want a drink but cannot leave the children on their own. Outside pub area and incredibly lovely real ale pub. This is the only entertainment but wait.
The beach is very clean, not sure if you can swim in it as we only visited when the tide was in. But after hours, there were people down the cliff having a really quiet fire on the beach as you can walk down some very very steep stairs to it. I was so tempted to go and join them but would have suffered in the morning. Instead, I chose to sleep whilst listening to the surf.
After a couple of pints we took our tea/coffee in mugs and walked around the site (you can do this as it's not a busy site) and saw rabbits & deer! Our children absolutely loved this and to this day speak about it.
The area surrounding this site is beautiful. If you want thatched cottages, and village greens, you will love it. We visited Framlingham Castle and I have to say, the town of Framlingham is worth a visit, the little tudor streets and the church at the bottom of the hill are true gems and free.
On our last day we discovered that Dunwich has loads of stuff to be explored. An abbey, a heath and generally loads and loads of stuff for people who enjoy the outdoor life.
I would definitely visit this site again. They are booked up during the Summer Hols otherwise I wouldn't be bothering with Dorset.
Fantastic place.

We have been coming to Cliff House at least once a year for over ten years and love the tranquillity and location. However, we feel that the owners may be pushing campers out, every time we stay there are more luxury log cabins installed. We have repeatedly asked about the possibility of putting electric hook up on the lawn area. This is a sunny site. All other pitches with hook up are underneath trees, meaning that the sap and leaves make a heck of a mess of your car and tent. We were told last year that the electric would be on the lawn this time.
We booked again in February for this June and were a little surprised at the hike in fees. Last year we paid £80 for 5 nights, this year it had increased to £110, still no electric. We asked if we could run our hook up from an nearby point so long as it was an empty pitch. We were refused. We don't mind an increase at all, as costs do go up. But we feel that we are being made to pay for the luxury new bar area. Unfortunately we decided to cancel and have booked at a nearby site instead.

This site was well located for the beach and national trust walks.
It has good clean amenities and a welcoming pub on site. The laundry looked well equipped and the shop was well stocked for children with pocket money and also had the usual basic groceries. The showers are excellent. The playground was ideal for children, the pub's pool room was used by teenagers.
The tents were not all allocated a car space and there were no paths between the tents on the family pitch so there was some walking through our pitch by other people at times. Parking is mostly in the car park away from he tents.
The site is wooded and planted with daffodils and primroses for springtime.
We saw plenty of wildlife on site too;squirrels, birds, rabbits and even a red deer on the site.
There was only one drawback which was some noisy construction work whilst we were there, however on my mentioning this to the staff it was limited to after 9am and we were compensated with vouchers for a future holiday.
We will be back

First time here to this wooded site, very nice although a lot of work going on for the new club house. Don't normally go to campsites with club houses but this was a pub really and unusually served real ales which I found in good form and with a shop next door. Agree that the staff are friendly particularly the new girl from Essex working the shop and the pub who will I'm sure be a good asset to this site.
Toilets/showers modern and access to beach via steps. Area good for walking/cycling as quite flat and the RSPB reserve is nearby for birdwatching, happened to be there when the rare Lesser Kestrel was at Westleton Heath. Preferring quieter sites would only use this site out of season or mid-week when no live music is played and childre at school. Paid £14 for one night with ehu.
