This was our second visit to this site, and it lived up to our good memories of it. The setting is quite idyllic, and the location great for visiting Dolgellau and southern Snowdonia. The campsite is flat and completely level, but there is a slightly wilder area on the hill for those who prefer that. Even there, the hillside has been terraced to give flat pitches. The facilities are excellent, with a very handy fridge and freezer included in the laundry room. Possible downsides are that there is no shop and the dishwashing facilities are of the break-your-back-sink kind, and while roofed, are not enclosed but tacked on to the end of the showers/laundry block. Lock up bike facilities are available. Will definitely return to this site on future visits to Dolgellau.

We stayed here Easter 2007. Excellent little camp site, just a shame there wasnt more room for the children to play as there is a small road running down the centre of both fields. Toilet/showers were very clean and a mop and bucket are left for all to use after showers which keeps the area clean all day. Only criticism is that there is no soap by the wash basis. There is a laundry room which has a fridge/freezer for public use which is an excellent idea.

A very well kept site with very friendly owners and great views. The site was very spacious and didn't feel too overcrowded, even on a bank holiday weekend. Shower block was modern and clean with great power showers although a shelf in the shower would have been useful and there is no soap at the sinks for washing hands. Petrol Station and Little Chef nearby. We walked the 1.5 miles into Dolgellau but it is along main road with no path and in parts no street lights so not recommended with young children or without a torch. The noise from the road was only slightly distracting and it quietened down in the evening so didn't spoil our stay at all.

Stayed here quite by accident on the bank holiday weekend. All sites in Barmouth were packed full and we hadn't booked anywhere. Came back out of Barmouth and found this site just after the Little Chef and Petrol station. You could easily miss the turn off, but we had noticed it before and thought we would take a look. Didn't expect to get on but there was plenty of room and it was absolutely lovely. There was a field with horses nearby which the kids loved feeding and there were nice walks too. The toilet and shower blocks were immaculate and regularly cleaned. Good room for laundry and a fridge/freezer you could use free of charge. Hair dryer also in toilet/shower block. Radiator in there too if you are camping when its a bit chillier. Nice quitet private site with spectacular views. No loud music. Owners polite and friendly. Campfires allowed which is great too. All in all, we stumbled across a fabulous site which we will definitely return to again as soon as we can. Our family enjoyed every minute. Only down side (but which didn't bother us) was that you could hear the road noise but to be honest thats a small price to pay for such a lovely clean site.

We found the site as described however just a word of warning for those, like myself, who cannot abide road traffic noise - there is persistent noise from the main road. I know not everyone reacts to road noise the same but we booked for 3 nights and left after the first. We found it really hard to relax with the constant drone which was a real shame because the site is in a great location close to Torrent walk (well worth seeing) and Dolgellau with its brilliant home bakery . Facilities were faultless. So if you don't mind listening to traffic don't be put off.

Just arrived back from my third visit to this site, and yet again it was amazing they just keep adding new facilities, The toilet Block has Hot power showers Really good after a days walking Owners were very friendly, Our Children loved it lots of open space to run around in very safe, also they had pet lambs and baby horses which the children got to fed and stroke. Also they've added pitches in a separate part of the field for groups now which means that families and groups are kept separate. Toilet blocks were really clean as they are cleaned three times a day so the nice girl said. Can not recommend this site highly enough all ready booked in again in July, you have to go!

As mentioned in the previous reviews the camp site is in a lovely area. Some things to watch out for though are the midges which feed readily from about 6pm. The other is that this site is open to all and not just families, this lead to swearing and barbecues from one corner of the camp until 4am. It was sorted out the next day but that didn't make up for everyone's lack of sleep.

A very disappointing campsite. On first sight everything looked OK. New toilet block, flat field with nice view. Checking on their website before leaving home I found the following description "New toilet block with facilities for disabled etc hair dryers washing machines drying facilities fridge opening in March." My experience was totally different.
The ladies toilets weren't cleaned, and the soil bins were left for days. No toilet brush was supplied. When anyone had a shower, any poor unfortunate person sitting on the toilet got wet feet and trousers, as the water in the showers didn't drain away and flooded the whole of the toilet block. The light only seemed to come on for about 1 minute and then went off, so if you were on the toilet you had to jump about in the dark to reactivate it. Not very practical! There was nowhere to hang your clothes whilst showering, and also not a mirror in the place to do your hair. As for hairdryers these must be of the invisible type, like the washing machines, and fridge!

June 2005 This is a great site in a great location. We were camping for a few days and although the North Welsh weather lived up to it's reputation, we enjoyed our stay at this site. The new shower block is excellent - hot water at all times and clean. The owners are friendly and helpful. The scenery is stunning and there are all levels of walks nearby. The rates are very good with no additional charges, £5 pppn with £1.50 pn for EHU.
This is an ideal location for exploring North Wales. The town of Dolgellau is very close, as is Barmouth for a beach visit. You can climb Cader Idris, visit slate mines, go pony trekking, fishing, mountain biking, walk in the forests or just relax. Ideal!
We will definitely be returning!

May 2005 A lovely green field with views of the mountains. The owners were very friendly too. As we arrived, they were putting the finishing touches to the toilet block (mention in first review) - they are looking very nice and even have a radiator in them for colder weather! The showers are wonderfully hot and powerful.
The nearby A470 provides some noise, but not enough to distract from the relaxing. A minute walk down the road will get you to the start of the Torrent Walk, and a 3 minute drive into Dolgellau. If coming from the South but want to climb/walk in the Snowdon area, this is ideal to keep your journey short as it's less than an hour from Betws-y-Coed on good roads.
We were there on May bank holiday and had no traffic trouble whatsoever.
