We spent bank holiday weekend here and although it was busy the staff found time to take you to a pitch of your choice (limited choice when you arrive late though!) Pitches were mainly hardstanding for caravans and seemed a bit small. The site lacked shrubbery for privacy but then it is just getting established. The staff are very friendly and conkers itself was an quick walk through the wood. There was no dog walk on site but this didn't matter as there were many lovely walks close by.
The toilets were very clean and despite it being a bank holiday remained clean and no queuing necessary. There wasn't much for kids to do on site so a weekend was just long enough.

Just got back from spending bank holiday weekend at this site.
Toilet/Shower facilities, were good! Small and not many of each, but you we're never really in a queue for long.
Site itself I thought was nice! Clean, tidy and well spaced out. We were exposed to wind a lot as the site is very open, but there a lot of trees that have been planted, so in a few years that will not be a problem. Only downside of the site was the children's area and the lack of recycling. There wasn't any! Apparently they are working to change that though.
The site had a lot more caravans and motorhomes then tents, but I wouldn't say it was more suited to one or the other. Tent pitches were all a decent size.
Local area is nice! Recommend going to maize maze, great day for all ages! I'm 23 and had a fantastic time -probably more suited for younger children, but all the same, a great day for a family.

Not a site I ever wish to revisit. Felt harassed and unwelcome. Only 1 car per unit, second car had to be parked off the site, which posed problems. Facilities were good but the whole ambience of the site just doesn't do it. The grass was well trimmed and caravans were all I think, on hard standings.
We were given a code for entry into the toilet block etc these were a cause for concern. Even older children could not go on their own and they had to remember the code from their unit to the block, fiddle to get the code in etc before entry.

Spent a long weekend here (Fri - Mon) specifically to visit Conkers, for which the location of this site is great. Facilities (toilets/showers) are excellent, pitches are flat and drainage is good so even with the heavy rain on Sunday it did not get muddy around the tent. Using the mobile fish & chip van on the Friday was not planned but it turned out to be too good to resist. Being a club site and the first one we have stayed at we didn't realise just how strictly the rules are enforced albeit in a very 'friendly' manner. We pitched 5.5m away from next tent only to be told to move it half a metre further away to meet the club rule of 6 metres which as we'd pegged out was a bit of a nuisance. The site was not busy so seemed to be plenty of space for kids to play but even though they were in a clear area they were told to only play in the designated play area (a small area which has been cordoned off). Overall we had a great weekend, the day at Conkers was fun (the adult assault course is recommended) and with free entrance for the kids if you show your receipt for the site, it was a real bargain day out. The site seems to be more favoured by caravans than tents, it's not a site I'd highly recommend for families with young children, there's not much for them to do although because of it's open nature we felt safe for them to wander around. It's not somewhere we'll be rushing to go back to soon, maybe in a few years time when the site has developed more.

We chose this site for a try out night with our new tent before we go on holiday. The staff were very friendly and the lady on reception remembered my youngest from our booking. The Toilet/showers were (as you would expect from a new site) very clean and well maintained, it would have been nice to have a low sink for the children. The site was clean and flat. The only thing I think could benefit this site is a play area.

Excellent site and brilliant site wardens. This was our first trip out and they could not have been more helpful.
Firstly the site. Nice flat pitches and even in spite of torrential rain all weekend, the site drained well and did not become waterlogeed. It sits in the basin of two hills and has a little shelter although it is unguarded on two sides.
The facilities were superb. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and modern and lots of hot water. Other amenities such as dishwashing was first class. They have started building some play facilities for the kids and already there is a football goal and basketball hoop in a nice big area for the kids to play in.
In terms of location, the site was easy to find and if you want to go to Conkers, less than 10 minutes walk. We walked the heritage trail which was very interesting and easy to follow maps are available at reception.
Finally, if you do not fancy cooking, a Fish and Chip van visits the site on a Friday and the local Indian and Chinese takeaways deliver. We ordered an Indian and it arrived quickly and piping hot.
All in all excellent weekend and we will go back.

Pete, Dawn, and Russel are fab! Their attention to detail is great. The site is kept very clean and the toilets and showers are clean too. The surrounding area is great for kids, lots of adventure play grounds within cycling or walking distance, you don't have to go on a main road either. Conkers itself was a bit rubbish but the walks around the forest and Twycross zoo 7 miles away are very good. All in all a great site and many thanks to the people who run it!

Back again after 7 weeks! again we were very pleased with the site. Spotless toilets & showers and site wardens that are few and far between, Dawn Pete & Russell are a credit to the CCC, nothing is too much trouble and Pete has endless energy ensuring visitors are happy and the site is well maintained.
Walks around the site are in abundance and each time you go out you discover more, tea rooms lakes etc.

We visited this site in mid February 2009 along with some friends also in a touring caravan. I had pre booked the pitches in early January but when we arrived there was a problem with our friends booking (totally my fault). This was quickly remedied by the very friendly wardens Pete, Dawn and Russell. From this moment on, the service was second to none. We were shown to our pitches and even given help and guidance to manoeuvre the vans onto the pitches. A wealth of information booklets were available and the wardens were also very knowledgeable on the surrounding area. We also got a discount on the entry prices for the Conkers site that is situated next door. The site is very well set out with large spaces between pitches which seemed mostly level. The toilet and shower blocks were kept spotless and were always warm and a pleasure to visit. We made use of the onsite washing facilities which were reasonably priced. The site is a little open at this time of year but lots of trees and shrubs have been planted and just need some time to get established. As we are not expert caravanners yet I did cause a little problem with the site electrics (not removing all of the hook up lead from the roll thus causing it to overheat). But once I had informed Pete, he came over to test the hook up point, then jumped right in to help solve the problem I had caused. A true gent (I hope you get to read this Pete and remember how stupid I felt). The next morning after packing up as we left the site Pete and Dawn were there to say goodbye and have a chuckle about the night before. Overall a very well ran site with very friendly wardens and as only 45 minutes from home a place we will be returning to soon.

What a lovely campsite! Well positioned pitches (if a little small in places - however, we didn't have an awning so it was no problem). Just off site are some brilliant walks - which our west highland white, Angus, enjoyed immensely!
Facilities are excellent - beautifully kept (and warm) showers, toilets, laundry and dish washing facilities.
Just off site (1 min walk) is the local youth hostel which serves basic, but great value for money food and beverages.
All in all a lovely site - we'll be back.
