Outstanding service from when you get to the gates
Friendly staff book you in and then show you to your pitch.
Always very cheerful in there approach to the grandchildren and a very nice family atmosphere on the campsite
The facilities were very clean and everything well signposted,

Attractive site based on a circle design with hardstandings on the perimeter and grass pitches in the center.
One facilities block in the center, which as others have mentioned, may be overstretched if the site is full.
A path from the site entrance takes you straight in to the National forest with its multitude of walking and cycle routes and the Conkers activity centre.
One day we walked to the Bath Yard basin and along the Ashby canal to Moira Furnace and the Hub cafe, the other we completed the "blue" circular route (4. 25 miles via Albert Lake and village.
Top tip take a photo of the route boards to help you navigate as the route markers are a bit hit and miss).
2 pubs and a Co op within walking distance along the canal. Recommend the Rawdon Arms. Good choice of ales and the roast dinner wrap on a Sunday is a bargain at £8.
The closest watering hole to the site is the Moira Miners Welfare club, about a quarter of a mile away, that welcomes campers.
Unfortunately no local bus service if you wish to travel further afield whilst leaving you unit on site. All in all a good site. Would stay again for it's dog walking facilities. Recommended.

I turned up at this site feeling very tired, as I'd had a long drive. However, the site managers were very kind and welcoming and made me feel at home despite me only booking for 1 night.
Lovely open site, clean, tidy, very well maintained, facility buildings all very clean.
Ideal site for dog walking as there is a 'national trail' walk just metres from the site entrance.
Also, lots of things to do locally; although only 1 night here this time I shall definitely be back!

This is a great site to visit in the winter,
Plenty of hard standings and great walks from the campsite, without getting too muddy!
Excellent facilities and a friendly team, just perfect to escape the winter ‘blues’.

Very nice campsite, nice walks in the neighbourhood.
Good sized gravel pitches, warm toilet blocks.
Friendly people running it. Coop and 2 pubs 20 minutes walk to Moira.
Close to Buxton with good array of shops.

Had a lovely stay at Conkers, starting with a warm greeting by Margaret who helped us with our questions.
The Hard standing pitches that are on the site perimeter all looked well cared for and in many cases flat.
The site is within walking distance of the fabulous Conkers park with its many walks and cycle ways, and its entertainment areas for families (which we didn't try).
We walked the Conkers Circuit (approx 5m) anti clockwise in order to finish our walk in Overseal for a drink at the Robin Hood pub, and takeaway dinner at the super Admiral Fish Bar.
We also cycled around Conkers on NCR 63, and visited Moira Furnace for a cream tea.
The nearest shop we found was a Co-op in Moira which was a 10m cycle ride away. The site was pretty full, although there were spaces on the grass in the middle of the site for tents.
We noted three improvements that the site could make to move it to the next level.
1. An info hut would be helpful to share all the great options and places in and around Conkers Park and Moira, thus avoiding spending so much time researching what to do first and where to go
2. Another set of bins at the opposite end of the site to the entrance
3. Whilst the toilet facilities were clean, there are not enough of them. We witnessed queuing for showers and toilets on a number of occasions, admittedly it was Whit week when we stayed.
TV signal ok, 4G reception ok, Wifi intermittent.

Conkers caravan site is very well situated for visiting a number of children’s activities.
The site is very clean and tidy with a small play area for the younger ones.
The facilities are adequate albeit a bit on the small side. Admittedly the family room was being renovated but the showers in the main adult area are a tight squeeze especially if you do have a couple of younger grandchildren. The actual timed press shower only lasts seconds which is also difficult when trying to wash and rinse your hair, maybe a tad longer would be greatly appreciated.
Staff great and always on hand if required.

Another very pleasant overnight cycle touring at Conkers.
Up to the usual C&CC standard, with very clean facilities, a friendly welcome, quiet neighbours, etc.
There's lots of walking and cycling nearby, and a Co-op just a short walk or cycle away along the canal.
