Had a most wonderful time and look forward to another visit to The Croft camp site,
The location being central to the Village of hawkshead is an asset.

Great site which is perfectly situated for visiting the delightful village of Hawkshead where there are at least four decent pubs. From there there are many bus routes into other areas if you don't want to use your car
Facilities are ok and staff friendly and helpful.
Only concern is the road into the area which is twisty and single track in some cases.
We are going back this year and next year and next year

A very nice campsite extremely convenient for Hawkshead village (200 yards). The facilities were very clean and spacious. A very warm well fitted out Tv/games/library room. Waste points for both grey and chemical waste. Perfect for a long or short stay with fantastic walking direct from the site or a short bus ride away.

This is a perfectly located site for the village of Hawkshead, which is just minutes walking from the site. It's a great little village and certainly worth a visit.
Good walking in the area, but you need to drive further afield to the Langdales or Coniston for more adventurous trips.
Site facilities good and staff helpful.

This was a very nice site located just a couple of minutes walk from Hawkshead village. It had excellent facilities for motorhomes. Fresh water, grey waste disposal, TV point and electric hookup were all available on large flat hardstanding pitches. There was a well equipped TV lounge where free wifi was available along with a pool table, books, games and lots of local information.
The shower facilities were a little odd, being made up of a gent's shower block and 3 individual unisex complete shower rooms. These shower rooms, one of which was a bath with shower over opened directly from the outside. There were no mats for wiping muddy feet or anti slip mats. Neither was there a mop to wipe slippy or muddy floors. Also on one occasion (even though I went early) the water was barely warm enough. These were minor complaints and not enough to put us off returning. What would put us off though is the journey. The roads around Hawkshead are extremely narrow and quite busy.

A very nice site. Hawkshead village directly opposite with excellent restaurants but booking is recommended in high season. Very clean toilet block with hot showers. Plenty of space between pitches.
Welcoming and helpful staff without being invasive!
The only drawback are the narrow roads leading to the village of Hawkshead but there are plenty of passing bays. The site is very convenient for visiting Ambleside, Windermere and other attractions,
Would visit again.

Great campsite, this has the best electric hook up facilities for camping which include your own water and TV socket.
The showers and toilet facilities are superbly clean and modern and the place is just across the road from Hawkshead which has a reasonably priced co-op and four not so reasonably priced pubs.
Also included is free wifi which you can access in the TV room, though we could pick this up from our tent. A pool table and even a bus service to Ambleside.
The only thing missing was views of mountains but they would have been a bit harder to supply.

Very well located site, just a matter of yards from the village. We pitched on a hard standing pitch, flat and level and with hook up for electric, water, waste water and TV. It was a little noisy, but we picked a site next to the road so was to be expected, pitches further away were probably less affected.
Toilet block arrangement seemed strange, a `gents` with loos, urinals and showers, then `unisex` rooms. SWMBO said there wasn`t a `ladies` as such which is unusual. Facilities were clean and serviceable, but SWMBO said that one of the unisex rooms had no loo paper for a couple of days on the bounce which suggests they may not be cleaned/inspected daily.
Other than booking in we never really saw any staff, which was fine, and the site never appeared to be over-regimented.
Would we stop here again? Absolutely not, but that is no reflection on the site or the staff - if you want a site adjacent to a pretty village with all the facilities you could want, you may struggle to do better. The problem we found was actually with the locals running the village businesses, who with very few exceptions are ignorant and rude which is quite amazing as without the visiting public they would have little or no customers (or income). If I can manage a `please`, `thank you` or `good morning` and I`m spending money in their shops I don`t think unreasonable to expect some sort of response. There are so many other stunning areas of the Lake District that don`t seem to resent visitors it makes sense to visit them, and not Hawkshead. A shame for the site, really.

This is the first time as a family that we had booked a static caravan for a holiday as we normally go under canvas as campers. However as we were looking at a 5 hour journey from home to the site with a 7 year old, 9 year old (are we there yet ) and dog only having to take our clothes was a great attraction to booking a caravan. The caravan was superb, clean, warm and new just as the web site stated every thing you could need was supplied including all bedding and towels. Hawkshead as a village is a great base to explore the Lake District as it is situated between Coniston and Windermere and is very well supplied by pubs, tea rooms and artisan food shops as well as a late night Co-Op for those every day needs. There is also a good selection of out door shops for all your expedition clothing needs. The staff at the croft were always helpful and polite and the site seemed to be immaculate there is a local milkman who comes round most days, there is also a TV room with pool table and books and comfy sofas and chairs, all in all a great location for a holiday will be returning in the future.

In general I thought this quite a nice site with a pitch where you want policy so motorhomers beware however this site is ideal for leaving the unit behind and go anywhere in the lakes by bus which can be caught from the village less than 5 mins away. Toilets/showers to a high standard especially so the unisex shower rooms. Site a bit open and road noise only during the day. The hard-standing pitches are all fully serviced including TV point however the cost is on the high end at £29/night, a lot more than I normally pay, I suppose this is reflected to the proximity of the local village. There are four pubs in the village, all do food and many serve the local Hawkshead beers.
