We stayed for a week (mid August)- 2 adults in a tent.
Nice site in a good location for access to New Forest, Poole, Bournemouth, The Purbecks. Level site with good access tracks to pitches. All pitches have EHU and a water tap shared between a few pitches- very handy.
Clean washrooms, washing up area, laundry- we never had to queue even though the site looked full.
Friendly & helpful staff- noise late at night was dealt with immediately. The staff were always around cleaning, watering plants, checking site etc.
Excellent information cabin with masses of brochures.
Small shop- reasonable selection of essentials, but pricey. However, several supermarkets just down the road.
We parked in the car park at back of site because we came in a van and they don’t allow commercial vehicles on site (ie on pitches). We preferred this- didn’t have vehicle next to the tent and it gave us space to sit out at side of tent. Everyone else parked next to their unit. The site did seem packed in with no real space around / in front of the pitches because of all the cars.
The lane from dual carriageway was a little bumpy but some of the potholes were filled in during the week. Didn’t notice the noise from the road really and had no problems getting on / off dual carriageway.
Only gripe is kids cycling around site at all times, skidding around on pitches / tracks and the main access road which everyone had to cross to get from the pitches to the washrooms / washing up area / laundry / shop/bar etc. Was quite dangerous when you had 10 kids using it as a racetrack and cars trying to drive on / off site.
The no cycling rule was clearly ignored by both campers and site staff, as was the no ball games rule. There was a very large field available for ball games etc off the main site across the lane. I suppose not really suitable for younger children to go without an adult though?
Code on washroom door was a pain and unnecessary as everyone was given the code when they arrived!
Didn’t use bar/restaurant, games room or pool. £28 per night was a bit pricey we thought, but I suppose they did have a heated indoor / outdoor swimming pool.

Just returned home having spent a week at this site.
Very impressed on the whole. When we arrived we were shown to our reserved pitch next to our friends. The guy even helped us push our unit into position. The pitch was very level and well drained and we were only a few paces from a drinking water tap and the hook up point. The pitches are a bit close together and which makes the site feel a bit crowded - but this did not spoil our holiday since we next to our mates anyway.
Everything was spotless - the shower & toilet block was warm, clean & modern as was the washing up area and the laundry.
There is a play park for the kids and a good dog walking area.
Bricks are supplied if you wish to use disposable BBQ's
The swimming pool seemed a bit small when busy - but it was spotless and warm.
There is a good bar/cafe and a shop.
There are some good pubs nearby - two in particular offering 2 main courses for £10.00.
There is also a Sainsburys and a Lidl within a few minutes drive.
We would return to this site.

Yes, this site has the cleanest facilities I've ever seen in a campsite (think it's won 'Loo of the Year for the last 2 years??), the staff are all brilliant, and the pool is also spotless, but we (and other campers I chatted to during my stay) thought that the pitches were really crammed in together with a very narrow track between opposite pitches - this made getting your car out of your pitch tricky around guy ropes etc.
We have a Montana 6 tent with front extension, and this only just fit on the pitch lengthways (had to put windbreaks up at the end of it so cars would not drive over our ropes/pegs. Widthways the pitches were a good size, but you're only allowed to pitch in a certain direction.
Would we return? No, we did find everything to be spot on with regards to the clubhouse, staff and facilities, but found the pitches really put a dampener on it for us - too on top of each other! But would recommend for those with tiny tents, or those with caravans where noise from neighbours wouldn't be so much of a problem.
Lovely area though, and will definitely be back, but a different site.

We used this site before choosing Shamba for a short family break (4 nights) last week. There were 5 adults and 2 children in our group over 3 pitches. We were aware from previous comments that while there were excellent facilities at Shamba there were also some downsides to staying here.
To begin with the positives:
The facilities here are, indeed, amazing! We have been camping for around 10 years and I can honestly say that the pool, clubhouse and toilets are exceptional. Showering at a campsite can be a truly awful experience but at Shamba this was definitely not the case. The toilet block is immaculate and has deservedly won awards that are proudly displayed as you enter. Our children loved the pool, it was warm and again exceptionally clean. The clubhouse puts on a range of entertainment that suited the whole family. Our daughter loved the disco on Friday night and my dad and I REALLY enjoyed the Ringwood Bitter!
In the local area there is loads to do and, as mentioned by other reviewers, the two pubs nearest the site offer excellent food at good prices. However they do get very busy at peak times and this is worth bearing in mind. When we couldn’t get a table we went for a curry in nearby Verwood. “All Spice” is a fantastic restaurant and I heartily recommend it.
The negatives:
The pitches are very close together and by late August it was very difficult to pitch the tent in an area that had grass on it. This meant that we got absolutely filthy both putting the tent up and taking it down. The carpet in the tent is effectively ruined. This problem could have been avoided if the staff were not so strict about exactly where you pitch your tent. To avoid pitching her tent on a piece of black, sandy soil my sister pitched her tent with about three feet of it in our pitch. We were told in no uncertain terms to move it! The site itself is, in my opinion, too close to the A31. The traffic can be clearly heard all night. Adjacent to the site is also a scrap yard that does nothing to improve the sense of overcrowding, although we did enjoy spotting how many forms of transport there were in it!
The staff are, as mentioned before, very helpful though lacking in charisma. At no time did we feel particularly welcome on the site and my son while riding his scooter over the speed bumps was made to feel positively unwelcome.
We also felt that £28 per pitch per night was also a little expensive though we appreciate that the amazing facilities must be paid for somehow!
Would we stay at Shamba again?
Yes, but only earlier in the Summer for a weekend when a) The pitches were less worn. B) The A31 might be a bit quieter. C) The site might be a little less crowded

We have just returned from a great weekend at Shamba Holidays, myself, husband and two children 12 & 8. After checking in at reception we were shown to our pitch. It was a good size and fitted our tent easily. (7ft x 4ft) with room for the car, canopy / gazebo and for the kids to play badminton. The toilet/shower block were faultless, look brand new and were always clean. There were plenty of toilets (10ish) toilet cubicals with sinks and showers (8ish), we never had to wait to use them even in August. There are 3 hairdryers available and a playpen. Access can also be made to the pool area. The pool is indoor but in warm weather the doors can be folded back and has a patio area with the use of plenty of tables and chairs. There is onsite entertainment, food available in the restaurant / takeaway. We didn't use either so cant comment but could hear the music from the disco on friday night from our tent, but it didn't bother us and it didn't go on too late. The site is located off a main road up a narrow road/track where a little traffic noise could be heard. The location was good, nearby the lovely sandy beaches of Bournemouth, Dry ski slopes in Christchurch and Sand banks. We would recommend this site and will certainly be returning.

Just returned from a week on this site, I cant fault the sites facilities, great showers, loo's nice and clean and all in a very modern toilet block, Shop stocked all the basics you would need and Sainsburys is quite local. Staff members were very polite / helpful showing you to your pitch and making sure you settled in ok. We did eat in the bar one evening food was good but I could have got better value at a local pub.
From this site you have good access to The New Forest and surrounding area where there is always something going on so you cannot be bored here, we even managed to keep our two 14 year old boys happy even though they could not play swingball, badminton etc as there is no room between pitches
The down side.
Staff here really pack you in on this site, consequently everybody could overhear each others conversations and other noise you might make.
Might stay again if I was in the area.

We have visited Shamba for both long weekends and our main holidays and we will keep going back again and again! The kids absolutely love the pool, the park and the purpose mown dog walking field with large football pitch. We love the perfect shower and toilet facilities and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff - all in a very relaxed manner mind you :o).The staff ensure that the place is clean and tidy and that any disturbances are dealt with effectively.
There is a club house which serves really good eat in and takeway food. It does have some evening entertainment if you are in to that sort of thing but everything is put to bed by 11pm at the very latest - perfect!
One of the great things about this site is that you are near to the forest and Bournemouth meaning that you can easily get to nature or the beach without getting stuck in the horrendous 'forest' traffic! Sainsburys is just up the road and we can personally recommend the Turbary fish and chip shop which is a little further on - definitely worth a visit if you can't be bothered to cook one night!
Shamba is a great choice for your holiday. A friendly site that is big enough to be busy but small enough to have a family feel to it.

This is an excellent 4* site, we thoroughly enjoyed our 10 night stay and can give nothing but praise. Upon arrival the staff in the site office were efficient and welcoming, and during our stay were always very friendly. The toilet block is spotless, it was always tidy and David the site manager told me that they clean 3 times daily. We enjoyed their swimming pool which was again very clean, the water was warm and the PVC cover was immaculate. Pitches are well drained and roomy and even though the site was full over the 2 week-ends noise was kept to a minimum [especially at night]. About a mile along from the site is a Sainsbury's shopping centre and 1/4 mile from the site is an excellent 2 for 1 which is called The Woodman I think. We were very impressed by this site which has first class facilities and at the same time is not too big. A peaceful and enjoyable holiday was ours and we have no hesitation in recommending Shamba Holidays.

I would wholeheartedly agree with everything positive written about this site. We stayed for 4 days in the may half term and it was excellent toilets and pool immaculate great family bathroom with a bath in that you could hire for £1 for half an hour real luxury when camping and great as we have a 7 yr old, 3 yr old and 12 week old so could chuck them all in together. Great facilities for the kids and felt really safe will definitely go back next year.

I visited this site with My husband, 2 children aged 6 and 4 years on the late May bank holiday. What a brilliant site!
We arrived in the early afternoon and were greeted by very friendly staff who showed us to our pitch. The staff were around all of the 5 days we were there and always said Hello.
The site is immaculate, the pitches, park, shower block and pool were outstanding. The site was full to capacity when we were there and there was a bit of a que for the ladies facilities in the morning but not a long wait.
On one of the mornings there was a problem with some teenagers chatting and shouting loudly at 0620 in the morning. I mentioned it to the staff and the lads involved were spoken to immediately and there were no further problems.
The sites website very clearly says there is little there for teenagers and I tend to agree with this. The curfew times as mentioned before are very strict and the warden goes round at 2130 sending all the kids back to their pitches and the play park is closed and then at 10 pm everyone is expected to be quiet. (Fine with me!) it made the site absolutely perfect for me and my young family.
There is plenty to do in the local area including the country park just across the road which is free and has a great little cafe. There is a large Sainsburys and Tesco within 10 minutes drive from the site and lots of family type restaurants. The beach at Boscombe was lovely.
We already stayed an extra day at this site because it was so perfect for us. We have booked to go back in the summer and we can't wait!
