On the whole this is a fairly good site, clean with good facilities and helpful staff. Pool is great, I liked the fact it has a roof which can be opened on nice days and kept closed on cold or wet days. The only thing to bear in mind is that there is no lifeguard so kids need watching very carefully. Kids play area nicely equipped too. Toilet & shower block was amazing. Spotlessly clean and very spacious. Same with regard to Laundry and washing up area. Shop well stocked but like all on-site shops it was a bit on the pricey side (but there is a big superstore just up the road) Bar/Clubhouse very clean and tidy, good food at reasonable prices. ( Particularly liked the fact you could see direct into the kitchen which was really clean) Pitches are ok, a bit on the tight side though and there's not much space between you and the ones pitches opposite. Well drained though and pretty level. Would I go again? As far as the facilities go, yes I couldn't fault them. As far as the pitches go, probably not, didn't like the hemmed in feeling.

We stopped off at this site on the off chance and found the staff very helpful. This is a very well equiped site with excellent toilet/shower facilities. There was a playground near our pitch, and an indoor swimming pool, making this ideal for children. Food was also available as a takeaway or in the bar. On the downside, I thought it was very expensive at £33.50 for one night (2 adults, 3 kids over 3, 2 under 2, and two cars). The pitches were quite tight and you felt rather hemmed in. We didn't arrive until 5.30, and had to be packed up by 11 in the morning. As the pool didn't open till 10 we didn't really get value for money. Maybe not the ideal place for a stop over, but would be great for longer stays.

Have just spent a week on this site and would definitely go back. The pitches are close together, with only white lines seperating them, however, if you do have a bigger unit then they do have some larger pitches available. We were on one of the pitches which was to the rear of the site close enough to the childrens play area to keep an eye on them. The covered pool was great as the weather was not good and the toilet/shower facilities have to be the best you can expect to find on a camp site. The staff all work extremely hard and are always happy to help. The club house offers good food and a warm shelter in the evening if needed. It does not host late night entertainment which means that the noise is kept to a minimum. Having read some of the previous reviews before we went I was really worried about the road noise, the state of the entrance road and the nearby scrap yard, I did not need to. None of this was a problem during our stay and I would definitely recommend this site.

Just returned from a couple of nights at Shamba. A few thoughts. The pitches are TIGHT! We have a Khyam Nebraska Deluxe [8.5m wide] and were told that we'd need a double pitch as their standard is about 7m. Had to pay an extra £32! Once we had the tent up I reckon we could have squeezed ourselves on to the pitch. Watch the booking form please! There are no physical boundaries between pitches, just a white line on the ground. Visually it looks very cluttered. God help you if you get given a pitch by the entrance, it'll be noisy. Talking of noise there's the A31 constantly droning in the background, kept us all awake I tell you.
That said the facilities are very, very good. The showers/toilets are superb & the pool is also brilliant. The ground is flat & reasonably well drained, though with all the rain we've had it was still slightly muddy. Would we go back? In short, no. Two reasons, firstly the "hemmed in" feeling of the site and secondly there are just so many others to visit!

My wife, 2 daughters aged 15 & 13 and I Stayed here just for a couple of nights, really to check out our new Montana 6. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Everything about the site was vey well maintained and clean. Plenty of showers and toilets and they all were incredibly clean, in fact I believe the site has just won the loo of the year 2007 award. The shop was well stocked and the club house food excellent and again the staff were great. The swimming pool has a sliding roof so even if the weather had broken we would have still enjoyed it. There is a dog walk that leads to a football / field area for ball games, however to get there you have to leave the main field by an alley way and cross a lane. This really was a great family site with just the right amount of amenities to keep it quiet. All in all we had an amazing time here and would stay here again.
Well done to everyone maintaining the site.

Just returned from a week stay at this site. The facilities were spotless and toilets and showers plentiful although small queue for ladies showers sat am - site almost completely full. The swimming pool was also a good size and spotless but floor could have had more anti-slipmats as tiling got slippy when wet. However pitches are very small with no space around car/tent on medium size pitch and they had a couple of even smaller ones where we could not have fit our car and tent on-like camping in a car park. Field for ball games is large and well maintained however surrounded on 3 sides by houses although there are trees you feel like you are in a suburb and a long way from the new forest. Although there is a play area which is open late and a number of pitches back straight onto it there is no room for kids to run on the site they have to go to the field. Site also has continuous noise either from main road which is close by or swimming pool pump which is on 24/7. Nothing in walking distance or walkable so have to completely car dependant but Ringwood not very far away which has 2 supermarkets a brewery and other shops.

Having just spent a long weekend at this site we must agree with other reviewers, that it is a site to be revisited. The toilet and shower facilities are second to none especially the disabled toilet / shower room always spotlessly clean. The club room / restaurant offers first class meals well managed by Eric and his wife (who does the cooking) and very reasonable prices. Not having children we leave it to other reviewers to comment on. The staff were always helpful and friendly and answered all queries straight away or shortly after if they didn't know the answer then and there. The shop had a good selection of "emergency rations" including camping bibs and bobs as well as gas. Over our stay we were joined by 14 other members of the Dandy Owners Club and they all had the same thing to say "What a pleasant and well run site" We look forward to a return visit before the end of the season.

Hi just got back from having a great time at shamba holidays. The site is lovely. The staff here are friendly and will go out of their way to help you. The pitch sizes are good as we have a large tent and there was plenty of space for everything. The swimming pool is great. I only wish that I could have used it before my daughter got up. It didn't open til 10am. The water was lovely and warm. It was clean and well maintained. We loved the bar meals which were reasonable and tasted great. It beat cooking on a gas stove any day. All I can say about the toilets is WOW WOW WOW. I have never seen toilets like this on a campsite before. There was a family room with a roll top bath which was a massive bonus as we have a 2 year old who loves anything dirty. My one draw back was we were very close to the play park and it was noisy and didn't close until dusk. If you have young children then ask to be away from there. I would go back there again and again. It gets five stars from me.

What a great site. We have just come back from a 3 night stay here and thought it was lovely. Our tent was number 95 which was far enough away from the play-park not to be too noisy but close enough to keep an eye on the children. The park was locked at dusk and reopened at about 8ish. The shower block and toilets were spotless and often had a member of staff cleaning them. The showers where roomy and even had combination of shower, toilet and sink ideal for mums and children or dads and children. The pool was lovely and warm and quiet when we were in there. The changing rooms where family orientated so we could all get changed together perfect somebody to help. The bar was good and offered lovely food. We can not fault this site it was wonderful and we will be returning in the future.

Just returned after an enjoyable week at Shamba. We found the site very clean and the staff friendly, especially the wardens, who show you to your pitch and help with any problems. The toilet block is excellent (underfloor heating) with individual cubicles and plenty of hot showers. There is also a children's playground and space for them to ride around on their bikes. The weather was awful over the bank holiday weekend but the drainage around our tent pitch was good so we kept dry! It was good to have the indoor pool during the bad weather. The shop is quite expensive but there is a Sainsburys just down the road. My only request would be a code on the door which leads from inside the toilet block into the pool area for safety reasons. Altogether, a very enjoyable week and we will return.
