An excellent site, with excellent facilities. We will definitely be back. There is a Sainsburys in Ringwood, and the Indian takeaway in Ferndown will deliver to the campsite. The single track road approaching the site is very narrow so tricky if two caravans meet.

The best campsite we have ever stayed on!

Arrived on a very wet, damp day after ringing to see if they could get us in a day earlier than originally booked. They were extremely helpful and rearranged the pitches to fit us in for 5 days. On arrival you are greeted by friendly staff and escorted to your pitch. They show you where the hook ups and water etc are.

Pitches are very flat and although we didn't need the electric hook up it was right behind our pitch as too was the water tap. There is one of these for every 4 pitches. There are a variety of sizes of pitches so make sure you tell the truth about the size of your tent as you will be caught out. The site allows caravans and motorhomes and you will be pitched amongst them but it is not a problem.

The toilet and shower block was impeccable! There was always a toilet free with toilet paper replenished regularly. There are plenty of showers (some with a toilet) that always had hot water. All facilities are heated and cleaned regularly.

The block leads into a very nice pool and bar area that also has a snack bar open until 9pm. The wash up area is covered and clean and all areas have piped music during the day which is a nice touch.

There is a small shop that sold the essentials at a reasonable price and you can buy ice from the bar. Despite it being half term it was never noisy and in fact people did not stir until at least 7.30 which is a lay in compared to some sites we have stayed on.

The campsite is down a lane just off of the A31 and as some other reviews had commented on the road noise we were a little concerned although you really don't notice it. The birds are noisier - but that's what you go camping for!

The surrounding area has plenty to do. We visited a roman villa, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Poole and the surrounding areas of the New Forest. Every day was in the 20's so we had a great break in the sunshine. There is a pub down the road although we didn't need to use it. There is a Sainsburys nearby in Ringwood and a Lidls on the A31 towards Poole.

We would recommend this site and we will return.

We have been to this site on several occasions and we are going back again next month.

I have never stayed at such a family friendly and clean site! The site is quiet after 10pm and there are wardens who patrol the area to make sure that it stays that way. The main gate is locked at about 10pm thus meaning that the roads don't turn into brands hatch like some other sites.

The toilets are the best I have ever seen, always immaculate with under floor heating and music being played.

The washing up facilities are second to none and are a pleasure to use.

There is a well stocked shop selling the essentials.

There is a club house which opens on Saturdays during the peak season and the bar is pretty much always open and it also serves food.

The swimming pool is big enough for those who want to use it and the children's park is also excellent with lots of equipment, the children always have a great time playing in there.

You can always be guaranteed a good relaxing time with the family, this site is not a loud and rowdy site which is what brings us back time and time again

The staff were friendly and helpful. My party shared two adjacent pitches in one of the overflow fields which I think were used for the first time this year.

The pitches were flat and well drained and much larger and quieter (I presume) than the main site which seemed a bit jammed together. We had a toilet tent so the 5 minute trek to the facilities weren't a problem for us.

The shower block and toilets were baking hot most of the time, very clean and cleaned frequently. One morning I had to wait 10 minutes for a shower, but otherwise no queues.

Shamba said that they had a unit to drop in to provide additional facilities for the new field starting with toilets, with showers later, so will have to wait to see if they materialise.

The swimming pool was excellent, heated to a good temperature and not too busy when we used it. After a wet Saturday we spent the evening in the clubhouse, which hosted a kid's disco followed by an teenage / adult disco. The kids disco went down a right treat (I think they only have the disco's on bank holiday's and peak season). Lot's of people were eating with food prices ranging from about £4.50 for a burger and chips to £7.50 for Lamb Shanks.

The shop was a decent size. The kids play area was quite small.

The location was good. On the Saturday when it was wet it was an easy drive to a leisure park in Poole, where the girls went to the cinema while us lads played pool in the bowling alley and had a beer. There was a huge swimming pool complex, which had a small queue outside.

On Sunday, a lovely day weather wise, we cycled from the campsite through a woodland park on the other side of the A31, down to Hearn stopping to watch the aircraft taking off from Bournemouth International, continuing to Christchurch (about 2 hrs each way).

On the face of it Shamba is a very pleasant Site. The pitches are well defined and flat. There is an indoor pool which has a sliding roof which can be pulled back in hot weather (I presume). The Toilets and showers are spotless and well maintained. The on-site shop is well stocked, although as would be expected, quite expensive (a Medium sliced White Kingsmill loaf was £1.80) but you would expect to pay more for the convenience.

We went there on the Easter Weekend, and the pitch which we were originally offered was under a couple of inches of water. They kindly placed us on a dryer pitch and then complained that our tent was too big.

There is a 'Clubhouse' and take-away on site, but there is no entertainment (Apart from a disco ten Saturdays of the year) and the Take-away wasn't doing food during the day, or even in the evening when we enquired. It may be different during 'High Season', but as we were paying £30 a night, we did feel a little surprised.

The main problem we had was the electrics. Virtually throughout the whole of the Easter weekend we were constantly without electrics. No attempt was made to offer a partial refund, but instead, we were all blamed for using the electrics at the same time, which threw the breakers in the main electricity distribution board.

When I joined the queue of people complaining about the lack of electricity, it was explained that the pitches were wired in series, which meant that if a few campers in the 'ring' were using a kettle and / or heater, it would likely trip the breaker. As it was cold over the weekend, there was a real likelihood that more than six pitches would be trying to keep warm - the result was no electrics until the breakers were reset. A very unsatisfactory explanation and a ridiculous situation.

The site Manager said that if we all kept to using less than 10amps, we should be OK. We were using a Gas Heater, and a Gas Kettle, so the only electrics which we were using was an LED light and the singular other camper plugged into our post, was not there that weekend, and still we were out of power.

This is the only site which I have used, where we were affected by other campers using electricity which we paid for! Not good Shamba - It rather tainted our impression of an otherwise pleasant site.

Would we go back there? bearing in mind that effectively what you are getting is virtually a non-electric pitch and no entertainment on site, I think that £30 a night is very expensive, so sorry Shamba, the answer is no.

I have just returned from my first weekend camping, ever! We were a group of 4, two mums and two boisterous 3 year old boys.

The site was very clean (excellent shower/toilet facilities), staff were welcoming and helpful. We didn't actually see the pool or go to the park but what we did see was immaculate. Music/Radio was played in the toilet/shower room and in the washing up area which I thought was a nice touch. Definitely recommend as a base to explore the local activities and would go back for sure. Site was quiet but did have some road noise (personally didn't effect me but could for some light sleepers).

Local activity - can highly recommend Moor Valley which was free and just three left turns from the site so about 3 mins in the car - you just have to pay for car park (max £6) and if you want to ride the train (just under £5 for adult and child) or hire a bike (about £5 per hour I think) but everything else is free (two large play areas for younger and older kids, forest walks with regular stops at climbing frames) and a tree top walk - we were there for about 6 hours and we all enjoyed it. It was very busy while we were there but as it is so huge, it didn't make any difference - plenty of parking for all.

Also, there is a Sainsburys and Lidl up the road and also the Turbury (I think it's called) fish bar - lovely haddock and chips (big portions) in the same direction past Sainsburys.

We visited the site last September which turned out to be the best weekend break we'd had all year.

We particularly liked the heated showers / washrooms which were spotless throughout our stay.

We also managed to use the covered pool for a couple of hours which the kids loved. Again the changing areas were spotless, the bar area was an absolute hit on the Saturday night which hosted a disco & karaoke which went down a storm with the littluns!

The staff were top class (even when we were lost getting there)

The little shop is exactly what was needed for those always forgotten items although there’s a larger supermarket 1 mile up the road for the longer stayers.

The playground was also a huge attraction for the kids and being fenced off gave us peace of mind from cars driving past.

The only thing we could possibly fault was being plugged in amongst the caravanner's which left our 2 parties feeling a little boxed in however I believe as it was towards the end of the season the other parts of the site were having maintenance work done.

All in all a really pleasant experience of which we will be doing again at some point! Give it a go

Cannot praise the staff or site highly enough. We were rained out of Wales just three days before our holiday was due to start. Ann and her staff at Shamba bent over backwards to find a place not just for us and our huge tent but for my mum's caravan also. All pitches are spacious (we have a 23ft'er and trailer to go with and there was room for that and our van) with individual water taps and electricity points for each four pitches. Pitches were slightly offset so you didn't feel crowded at all, and all were level. Ground very well drained sandy soil.

Facilities were superb. Lovely combination of spotlessly clean loos, loos with sinks, showers and sinks etc. All with underfloor heating and radio. We didn't use the family bathroom but had good reports from those that did. We actually ended up staying on because we liked it so much. Although we visited the 2nd week of the summer holidays and the site was full there was never any sense of being packed in.

Pool is small but spotless and with a small peoples pool as well. Family changing, again with showers. Roof comes off if weather warm (right old suntrap there). Nice playground. Wardens all very friendly. Any kids running around after dark were dealt with promptly. Clubroom not massive but fine for size of site and the kids loved the little disco. Food was not expensive either which was a nice surprise.

Nice and central site for visiting Poole, Sandbanks, Bournemouth and Corfe Castle which is well worth a visit. Turbary fish bar up the road past Sainsburys (2 minute drive) is lovely and good value. BIG portions. Overall a lovely holiday for us and the weenies (10,7 and 11 months). Only small downside is possible road noise from the dual carriageway, but we didn't suffer the hum because we were at the back of the site. Would definitely visit again.

Just back from a 3 night stay on the site and really enjoyed it. On arrival a helpful member of staff showed us to our pitch explained the location of site facilities. He did state that the site likes to be kept quiet after the hours of darkness (which suited us).

As we were camping and did not require electric hook up we were in a field adjacent to the main site and about a 3/4 min walk to the reception and main facilities (inc toilets and showers). However at the top of the field was 2 portable toilets (quite flash ones with plumbed water and electrics) for late night quick visits. There was drinking water taps in the field and refuse bins.

The toilet blocks and showers were new and always kept clean. Never had to que for any of them. There was a heated swimming pool which was covered. There is a small shop and reception, also a club house with bar.

We did notice that there always appeared to be groups of children (4-11yrs) running round the area outside the reception, club and toilets, even quite late into the evening. Dont think we would have been too happy if we had been sited next to these locations.

The pitches on the field site appeared bigger than on the main site and we could fit our 6 person tent, table area and car in the pitch with no problem. We would definitely visit again but only if we could stay on the off site field.

We arrived up the single track road to a very friendly welcome, were given a map and information about the site and taken to our spacious plot by one of the many wardens. After setting up we explored the facilities, spotless toilets and free showers, basins in cubicles, a small but adequate pool, a well stocked shop, club room with bar and separate games room.

The site was pretty busy but had adequate facilities to cope, the were regularly cleaned and stocked.

We were in the first field with fields behind and adjacent, a convenient and private spot, the only gripe would be the road noise from the A31. Think I'd take ear plugs next time! You do however get use to it
We did extend our stay by an extra day as there was so much to do in the local area. The quiet beautiful new forest with endless walks and cycle routes, the amazing beaches of sandbanks and Buscombe, Poole had Tower park with a water park, cinema, tenpin bowling and lots of restaurants. Plenty for my 13 year old daughter and Bournemouth.
Lovely beach plenty going on and large shopping centre for those who want it. We also took a trip to Beaulieu where they have the abbey, house and motor show, featuring the top gear experience, a James Bond collection and the collection of cars and bikes a great day out we even had a Falconry display which held the attention of all, definitely something for every one and a full day out offering a free return visit!

I would recommend this site it was an excellent base for exploring the area with excellent facilities and friendly staff.
