We stayed at Shamba for just two nights, 2 adults, 2 children and a dog. We found the swimming pool, toilets and shower block to be excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. The dog walking facilities, although off site, were much bigger than other sites recently visited and very clean. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

We have just got back from a stay at this site and it was fab. We only stayed one night as it was our first trip in our Talbot. Have to say the site was immaculate, staff were very friendly. The shop had the essentials and the pool was fantastic. Could not fault anything on site except the key code into the toilets as it sometimes took a couple of attempts to get it to work but this was to stop youngsters getting into the pool so very safe. I didn't hear any noise from the nearby main road but the road down to the campsite is still full of potholes and no room to pass anyone. Great start to the summer with our new motor-home and will definitely be going back!

One of the best touring parks we have been to in along time. Facilities were all very clean and very new. The staff are very friendly and the location is very peace full. Yes the A31 does run close by however you cannot hear it. The dog walk is very large and close by to the campsite. We went during the school holidays the site was full but you never had to queue for the facilities.

We have just had a good week at Shamba. It is a very clean site, quiet, with reasonable sized pitches and a fantastic pool. My daughter loved the play area. The staff are happy and helpful, whatever you need. The only downsides were paying to use the family bathroom, ants and the road entering the park is very bumpy but other than that a fantastic site.

August 2005 A well priced camp site for the region especially considering the heated pool and new clubhouse facilities.
The toilet / washroom and showers were OK but annoyingly were in three separate buildings not attached! I understand that these are being replaced this year though.
Very easy to find and a good base for New Forest or Bournemouth beaches. The only downside would be the A31 road noise that can be easily heard at night. Earplugs for light sleepers!

June 2005 I would have to agree with the other reviews. The entrance road really does need those pot holes filled.
The site is very tidy and well kept even though we did feel like packed sardines at the busy times of our stay.
The pool was great for the kids and the play area kept them happy with a small trampoline as the highlight.
The showers were fairly clean but were the push button type. Trying to wash the kids and keep the water running was a little tricky to say the least.
You can only hear the road slightly but it wasn't enough to bother us. Overall we had a lovely time and would go again.

June 2005 Nice campsite, was impressed with staff helpfulness on arrival. Will definetly go again this year. Very clean and tidy. Kids loved the childrens play area. Good acces to main roads for local area plus motorway for further trekking. Sign for site could be a bit bigger, you are on top of turning as you see the sign. Road a bit potholey careful with low trimmed cars.

May 2005 Not our greatest camping experience and we will not be returning. The lane leading from the A31 is in desperate need of repair. Pot holes are abundant. The toilet and washing facilities are inadequate. There are no noise restrictions and our young children were kept awake well after midnight.
The pool was out of action on day one, the toilet block out of action on day two and the drains blocked for most of the weekend.
The positives - the staff are helpful and friendly and the shop is well stocked.
This site has big plans for the future, but getting the basics right is essential.

May 2005 We visited Shamba on the bank holiday weekend, the kids were disappointed to find that the swimming pool was not open.. probably our fault as we understoad it to be open at peak times, but May day holiday is not classed as peak apparently.
The club house is fab, as is the shop.. the toilets and showers are not really up to scratch but i was lead to believe that these are to be replaced very soon.
My gripe has to be the lack of dog facilities.. The park allows dogs onsite and charges you for this. There are a couple of dog bins but basically you are not allowed to walk your dog on the campsite which causes a problem getting dog from tent to dark dingy pothole road (this is where you are expected to walk your dog).
Apart from no safe area to walk your dog to do what dogs do, i also found it frustrating that if i wanted to use the loo myself there was nowhere to tie the dog up outside the toilet.
Overall not a dog friendly site!!

August 2004 Perhaps we just chose the wrong week but as we were pegging out the awning my 14 year old came back from the showers to ask if I'd brought any bleach! The showers and toilets were not clean while we were there nor were the bins emptied often enough causing problems with smell and wasps. Dogs are not allowed to be walked on site and the lane is full of potholes which were just enormous puddles we ended up going off site in the car to walk her.The road noise is very obvious and because of the rain the pool was mostly closed. Altogether not impressed and will not be going back.
