August 2004 We have just spent 5 nights at this campsite and thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the bad weather. The washing up and shower / toilet facilities are of a very high standard. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The camping field is very sloping but we managed to find a level pitch on the edge. This was to our benefit as all the weekend campers left and we had the far corner of the field to ourselves. It did mean a trek to the toilet but it worked off all those cream teas. We also saw a deer in the field next to us which looked as surprised as we did. Just one word of advice - make sure you peg the tent down well as it can get very windy. Would recommend it to couples and families.

August 2004 We've just returned from a damp weekend away at Golden Cap. It's a lovely site, with the main camping area being a big field, away from the main site, ideal for people who want a more secluded and quiet camping break as there's plenty of space to pitch. It's surrounded by stunning scenery and is just a short walk to seatown beach. However, a word of warning - if you do pitch in area 9, (the field), it is quite exposed and windy, and the loos and showers are quite a trek away, in fact they're in the middle of the static caravan area which is a bit odd and quite gutting when you have to go to the loo late at night through driving rain and howling wind as you walk past people watching tv tucked up in their cosy caravans! Although the facilities are very nice, (spacious showers, lots of loos and sinks,) they don't seem to be cleaned very often at all and were quite a mess by the end of our stay. The loos had also run out of loo roll and soap which was a bit of a pain as well, especially as a loo trip meant a ten minute round trek. If these things aren't that important to you there's lots to love about this site, (good shop, great location), but if you've got a young family and your bladder's not what it once was, the loo situation starts to annoy you after a while. I would recommend booking a pitch in the field with electric hook ups, even though you don't get much space around you due to the marked pitches. They should invest in a loo block in the main camping field!! Badger watch - nil!! Although friendly ducks came to visit every morning!

June 2004 Excellent site and fantastic scenery went during school time so was very quiet . Showers and toilets very clean a handy on site shop for all your bits and pieces and a pub just next to the beach . If you like walking you will love this place the views are fantastic . The beach is very stony but ten minutes drive to Charmouth will put that right. Some pitches were on a bit of a slope but ours was fine . If you have children the play area for our two was not very good , but with that being the only minor moan otherwise an excellent , clean and most important for us peaceful site.

August 2004 Highly recommended, if your staying for more than 3+ (Camping) days make sure you ask for area 4, it costs more for the leccy hookup but its worth it, caravanners will benefit from decent gravel pitches. Toilet block can be a let down at busy periods but still very impressive. One of the best 9 day camping holidays weve had.

every august for the past 5 year A Wonderful site surrounded by beautiful countryside. If you enjoy fishing walking or just piece and quite this is the place for you. The camp site does get busy at peak holiday times and the badgers do visit in the dead of night , but in my experience they only become a problems when people leave food outside of the tent. So clear up after you’re BBQ and you won’t be bothered at all. And remember we only visit for short periods of time and the badgers are residents all year round. We have visited this camp site off and on for the last 15 years “its great”

18 June 2004 We stayed here for 2 nights and it was lovely. The site must have been about 80% full but didn't feel at all crowded. Everything was very nicely kept and the free showers clean with plenty of hot water.
Right next to the beach (which was very empty considering the beautiful weather), this site is wonderfully located for walking the coastal path.
Nearby Bridport has a great market and lots of lovely delis to pick up picnic essentials.
We will be returning to this site.

16 April 2004 Wow! What a great site. We spent two nights here and had a great time. The location is superb for walking and the facilities on site are excellent. New toilets and shower block in very clean condition. Includes laundry and ironing facilities. The on site shop has the usual last minute items and all the staff were very friendly.
The Anchor pub is also ideal for a bite to eat in the evening - I can recommend the Fisherman's crumble - hmmm!!!

August 2003 It was my first visit to a camp site ever. We were in the overflow field next door to the main camp. We chose the top of the field, the reason that we chose this is because of the great panoramic view when you woke up each morning. It was the height of summer and you woke up to a fantastic view of the sea in the distance and sprawling fields . The white building - The Anchor Inn - added a focal point and the sea and pebbled beach completed a nice back drop.
The camp site was packed . However, in the overflow field , we got peace and a sense of being on our own despite other campers being nearby. It was so good that we stayed three days and this trial weekend developed into sixteen nights around Cornwall in a tent.
It was very picturesque and I was so pleased to go there and my first time be such a pleasant experience.
The only minor recommendation that I would make to staff is to clean the toilets more regularly. They were brand new and immaculate but grass tended to get trodden into the ladies and it was so upsetting seeing this every morning. If you were late riser then this tended to happen.
We would score this 8/10. You had a beautiful town on the doorstep to explore and Dorchester was just great for a day out shopping. I'd go back many times and intend to do this as it's "a find".

July 2003 Pleasant campsite set in great surroundings, a stones throw from the beach. The majority of tents however are left to pitch in a hilly field at the very back of the site in which people seem to try and camp as close to you as possible even though there is a huge empty field around them!
Unfortunately did not come across any badgers after arming ourselves and preparing for an imminent attack as a result of reading other peoples reviews!
There is a reasonable pub on the beach ‘The Anchor’ just outside of the site with plenty of benches outside to watch the sea from while having a pint.
On the whole the campsite is a good one with good clean amenities and plenty of space.
Only downside was the staff who were constantly miserable, could not raise a smile and unhelpful almost to the point of being rude. Otherwise recommended.
