June 2003 A clean and pleasant site in beautiful surroundings, with stunning views. I think we were lucky arriving soon after lunchtime on friday, which did give us a good chance to try and find a fairly level pitch for our huge Kyham Ridgi dome, as people arriving later only had the flat but sloping central area to choose from. Toilets and showers good and clean enough but staff were fairly indifferent. The Anchor Inn is within easy stumbling distance and serves at least three of Palmers real ales. The two pubs in Chideock are good, both serving Real ale. Food at the George was superb but booking for meals is probably advisable. If you do decide to walk up into Chideock I suggest using the concrete track from the corner of the camping field, rather than the quite busy nettle sided single track road.

May 2003 Just spent two nights camping at this excellent site. Toilet/Shower facilities are very good. Site is pleasant, well maintained, and just a short walk to a fabulous beach. The Anchor Inn pub does good beer and food and is on the beach front with lovely views.
Camp shop stocks most of those emergency items, and there is a SPAR shop and a village shop a short walk away in Chideock.
The coastal path in either direction offers great scenery. West Bay is a good destination for an out and back walk.

spring 2002 This site is 2mins from the pebble beach up & down a very narrow road. Modern facilities , small play area, typical expensive shop (take-away open only in busy season)with a frosty greeting from staff. Good pub virtually on beach. We have visited this site numerous occassions and pitched on main field opposite the toilet block where it is flat, the field used in the summer is a small hillock with 2ft high grass, water tap and a hike to toilets. This last visit we had to pitch on the back fence area due to parts of the flat main area obviously being converted for caravan use (gravel!) fine until 1am when awoken by a Badger INSIDE the tent. The staff response later was incredulous, insulting, condescending and down right rude!(to all who lodged complaints- 6 families were disturbed/ had food stolen -this can be a nightly occurrence as the animals are fed by people in statics and you've guessed it the staff can't/don't want to do anything??) Pity they couldn't reply to e-mail afterwards either because we tell everyone we meet and have now found alternatives along the coast to stay on which are cheaper too! sue
