We have just returned from a weekend at this campsite in our trailer tent. The road down to the campsite is a bit narrow but there are lots of passing places.
The site was fabulous as are the views. The lady in the reception was very helpful and informative. The shop looked well stocked. We could choose our own pitch so we chose one that had a view of the sea. The site was very clean and well maintained. The toilets were clean and the showers were lovely and hot.
The walk to the beach is literally two minutes. There is access to the coastal path from the beach. We walked to West Bay which was 3. 5 miles but be warned that they are some very steep hills to climb. The pub on the beach, The Anchor, was very good. The food isn't cheap but the quality was very good. The pub was extremely busy and getting a table was a bit of a struggle but it was worth the wait.
We will definitely be returning.

This is a great little site. Access to the site is down a narrow lane and so maybe difficult if you are towing and come across traffic in the other direction. A nice little shop with pizzas available, a two minute walk to the beach and pub! what more could anyone ask for.
The toilet blocks are clean and warm. Dogs are welcome on the site, and the staff are welcoming to clients. The site is in a great area for exploring the Jurassic coast.
It is part of a group of several campsites and they are all professionally run.

Hidden gem. Shop on site, with most needs. Friendly staff. Close to beach, although be prepared or pebble beaches along the coast. Seatown village has this campsite, a village pub and a car park. Other than that its pure isolation.
Bus stops are around 3/4 mile walk from site, but the walk over the cliffs is much better. Although be prepared for a climb. Golden Cap is highest sea cliff on south coast. 360 degree view from the summit is well worth the climb. Bridport is about 15 mins drive away where there is supermarket and shops.
Pitches are well spaced out and large. Good for children to play.
Only downside is I read a review before hand that said pitches are slightly sloping. This person must also describe mount everest as a bump in the road. About 6 pitches are level the rest are on the hill side. I had one side on ramps, with the ramp on chocks, and we still weren't level, so be prepared.
Having said that, I can put up with a slight slope in order to experience this site and the area again.
Pitches are on a 'pick your own' basis so get there early for a good selection.
Well worth the visit and we will be going again.

Arrival at this site down a narrow lane with passing places you needed to time your arrival and leaving so you didn't meet lots of traffic requiring a lot of reversing.
Reception couldn't direct me to a local National Trust trail however processed our booking in efficiently. All pitches on a choose your own basis so its a lottery as to how sloping a pitch you get. The site is on a slop always a challenge when in a tent!
We experienced a lot of rain and high winds during our stay so the ground extremely waterlogged and toilets always wet and muddy.
We had a quiet stay until the Bank Holiday weekend when there was a lot of noise with visitors parking on our pitch only to leave at 10. 30pm waking us up not a happy camper as we have experienced loud music until then not ideal when you are in a tent with children trying to get to sleep. Never any signs of a warden on site, although help was available when units got stuck on their pitches.
Fish and chip van on site Saturday's and the site shop did a good trade in tasty pizzas, one of the local pubs the George a 15 mins walk along a bridge path. Food and beer both excellent.
The Anchor is on the beach which is a 5 mins walk away. Pebbles and a steep shelf on it so lots of waves heard whilst on site a lovely sound to go to sleep to.
Site ideally located to walk along the Costal path, for visiting the Jurassic coast at Lyme Regus, West Bay and Charmouth and climbing Golden Cap which had fantastic views well worth the sometime steep climb although the path well maintained.
Overall an acceptable site with an excellent location shame that the facilities often wet (not always after it had rained) and the noise on site during the Bank Holiday weekend.

Golden Cap was the second site in our annual touring holiday, this time travelling with friends. On booking we requested two sites next to each other and were told to arrive at 12 for the best chance of this. Unfortunately on arrival it was explained that check in time wasn't officially until 3pm so not sure what happened there! Anyway, no matter they let us on and we were very lucky to be able to pitch together.
The pitches are an OK size although we did feel a little crammed in as every available space is used. The site is quite slopey but extra levelling blocks are available to borrow, toilets and showers are nice and clean - playing music is always good! - and they are a good size but a family bathroom would be useful. The on site laundry is a great facility and the playground looked nice but was only really suitable for older kids. The shop was really well stocked with groceries, magazines, toys, local cider and fresh bread and croissants. Freshly cooked pizza is available (every night?) and a fish and chip van serves the site on a Friday evening.
The beach is literally two minutes walk away and it's gorgeous, no sand just pebbles with amazing cliffs and a short walk to the sea. The pub on the beach is lovely and the little ice cream shack there sold a local brand in a good variety of flavours. There are plenty of nice country walks to do including some very challenging hills! The village was a 15 minute walk away although the pub there was closed and there didn't seem to be much else (although we didn't really explore it that much!)
This is a fantastic campsite with friendly and professional staff and I'm sure we'll be back.

We had a lovely long weekend here earlier in the month. The staff are very helpful and the shop is well stocked. Clean tidy facilities and a very well kept park. The fully serviced pitches are a boon for husbands with bad backs! We had a lovely view of the sea and cliffs, there is a village shop just up the road for anything else you might need and the Anchor on the beach serves very nice food if you don't fancy cooking.
I would thoroughly recommend this park.

Great site apart from a very narrow lane leading down to the site but right on the beach, small shop that's quite good, and a pub over looking the beach ans sea, loads of great walking from the site but very hilly views are brilliant, the sites is busy but very well run the shower block and toilets are clean and tidy
West Bay that's 3 miles (broad church filmed here) well wasn't impressed at all with it,
If you can get to Lyme regis its well worth a visit for the Jurassic coast area you can get a Bus there too. All in all its a nice site would go back

Lovely site with good facilities shower and toilet block is clean and spacious with some shower cubicles having toilet and sink in. Some of them are big enough for small pram or buggy which is brilliant. Has a good shop which sells a variety of things including fishing nets & buckets and spades. There is plenty of places to play for children whether its on bikes scooters or in the park. Yards from beach where there is a rock pool. The area is famous for fossils our children found some on the beach it kept them happy for hours. All in all brilliant location and safe and fun for children. Would go again and recommend.

I will keep this brief and summarise my thoughts on the golden cap site.
Positives
• Location is fantastic, beautiful countryside.
• Easy walking access to the beach 5mins and the village 15mins.
• Clean, hot, spacious, plentiful showers with the local radio piped through.
• Really nice genuine staff, lots of smile and wanted to help.
• The nearby Anchor Inn with excellent views and the food was good.
• Lyme Regis, Charmouth, West Bay and Bridport a short drive away.
• Felicity’s Farm shop between Chideock and Charmouth has excellent produce – pork and apple burgers are excellent.
• Priced to represent great value for money.
• Quiet, relaxing and a great start to our touring holiday of Dorset and Devon.
Negatives
• Find your own pitch could be a lottery, however most pitches are of a good size.
• Children’s play area was a little sparse.
The negatives are more observations, we have a very short list of sites we return to, and Golden Cap will be one of them.

We had a wonderful week here in mid July. The site is large but well run. We liked being able to choose our own pitch and there was plenty of room for our car, the tent and picnic table set. It was quite busy when we arrived on the Saturday but we were pleased with the fact it was quiet after 11pm and we felt that there were plenty of staff around to ensure that everything ran smoothly.
The site has an excellent shop and shower block. We used both frequently and we liked the breakfast van which served hot drinks and bacon/sausage buns etc from Friday to Monday mornings.
The location is superb, set in Dorset hills and right on the beach. We were very lucky with the weather when we were there and did a lot of walking up the local hills, along the coast and along the beach. One tip I would like to pass on is that if you want to climb Golden cap, it is much better to drive into the National trust car park in Langdon woods ( first turn off to the left on the hill west bound from Chideock although there is strangely no sign on the turn off itself)
This means that you have half the hill to climb, it is well worth it! It is otherwise a long walk from Seatown itself.
The ground is a bit sloping but we found a fairly level pitch C13 and had no problems. Bridport is a fascinating town and also sells anything you might need. We found a good chip shop Longs on the main street and just a little way down a superb pasty shop which sells the genuine Cornish article. We had a drink at the Anchor but apart from it's lovely location we weren't keen, everything was overpriced and staff seemed hurried and unfriendly. In the evenings we walked along the bridle path to the Clockhouse in Chideock, this was superb, lovely staff excellent reasonably priced food and drink and a nice atmosphere. We were very pleased with every aspect of our stay at Golden Cap but I think the best part of it was the fantastic staff who work here. They were very welcoming and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they really want you to have a good time. On a final practical note, the laundry room is great and maybe only needs the addition of a spin dryer to remove excess water from hand washed clothes, there is a free freezer for ice blocks and the wi fi worked brilliantly. We will be going again.
