A mix of statics and tourers. The site is reached by a very narrow road and despite passing areas, there were some hold ups and difficulties. Site is beautifully located on the Jurassic coast.but quite a few of the pitches are extremely sloping. The toilet block is getting a bit shabby and whilst the showers are hot, you have to keep one hand on the shower button. The gents block was often quite dirty. Rotting grass in gullies leaves a powerful musty smell. Shop basic but Morrisons relatively close. Bar, restaurant and swimming pool facilities available at nearby sister site. You are paying for the location and the costs do add up. Local pub serves good beer and basic but adequate food. Some units were rather noisy late at night and this caused annoyance to those affected. Beautiful coastal path and beach walks but overall, we would not return here.

A lovely site with great views and clean facilities. The local pub serves good food and a decent pint. A word of warning however - it can be WINDY, so try to pick a sheltered spot. Our tent was damaged as where three others along the same row. Tents 10 meters away at right agles to us were conpltely unruffled.

This will be our 3rd stay at this site, we love it here, peaceful, beautiful view, clean facilities and I beg to differ about a previous comment made about the shop staff, they were pleasant, helpful and very obliging. The shop was adequately stocked for a camp shop.did not expect Sainsburys/Morrisons standard! I have nothing but praise for this site Only downfall -we have to share it with other people!Ha Ha.

This was our second visit to Golden Cap, the first being in a static, now in our own tent, so we knew the layout of the park and which pitches were the ‘best’ ones. For this reason when we booked I requested a pitch in a particular location, I was very generous and even gave a choice of pitches for them to choose from to put us on! On arrival (at 2.30pm, we were told not to arrive before 3pm - naughty us, or so we thought!) a pleasant young girl showed me a map of the site then told me I could drive round and choose which pitch I liked from the ones that were free - naively I thought, great! On driving on to the site there was the grand total of 2 pitches to choose from, one squeezed on the end of a row and the other, slightly bigger, in-between a tourer and a campervan. Our tent just about fitted onto the pitch with the car next to us, we couldn’t put our side canopy up and there was no room to sit outside the tent. Avoid pitch K19! We were not happy bunnies! Having said that the toilet facilities are very good, modern and clean and the location is great, 2 minutes walk to the pebbly beach and Anchor Inn. There is a lovely walk up through Area 9, the overspill camping field, with views all over the area. The shop on site is ok, expensive but fine for a newspaper, bread and milk. They also sell some camping stuff. There is a high turnover of caravans, lots of people staying for only a couple of nights, and they were arriving at 11am, not the 3pm arrival time -

This our second visit to this great site. Stayed in area three, near to loo's and play park. Enjoyed nine nights. So close to the sea and you can find fossils just walking along the beach. Can be a bit tricky getting in and out of Seatown with the caravan, so don't arrive early as you can meet a caravan coming out. Lot's of people go back year after year.

What a great location for a site - on the beach - pub next door - scenery from the site is good too. Very spacious pitches. Beware the lack of parking restrictions before 24 May - if you are 1ft out you will get a ticket and the local jobsworth will not let you off! Get grass in the showers at weekends because Friday is lawnmower day. Will definatly use this site next time we go to Dorset

Fantastic views from our sea view pitch. But we are not sure if the extra money is worth it, as the sea can be seen from several areas on the park. Our visit was relaxing. Found this site was a lot quieter and cleaner than Highlands End.

A nice site in appearance. Use the back field for a real 'back to basics' camping experience. Although a word of warning: the hedges at the bottom of this field may provide you shelter from the never-ending wind, but they have open sewage works right behind them. Very stinky!
TOP TIP: Take a lot of heavy duty storm pegs & you'll be fine.
If you're looking for a holiday in which relax & do nothing is your aim, then Golden Cap is for you. However, if you want to visit anywhere half way interesting then expect a long drive.
PLACE OF INTEREST: Beer Quarry Caves are well worth a look. Not only a chance to step back in time and wear a funny yellow hat, but the tour guides are excellent story tellers. Good fun for adults and kids alike.
Only major downfall to Golden Cap is their staff in the shop / reception. Extremely rude and aggressive, I found them and the lack of supplies in the shop to be a real let down.

August 2005 Stayed four nights in the overflow field (area 9) in glorious weather. Site is in an excellent location, with a beach within 2 minutes walk and a brilliant coastal walk along the cliff tops (hilly, but my 6 year-old daughter managed it quite cheerfully for 5 miles). Site was very clean and well-maintained. Showers & loos good (a little grassy first thing in the morning, but this is a CAMP SITE!) Had loads of space in field (and this was during high season) and the site was very peaceful. The field does slope, however, and it took us a while to adjust our position comfortably. Shop is adequate and Anchor pub is nearby (but overpriced for some quite disappointing food - frozen cod portions in a seafront pub!) There is, however, a well-stocked SPAR within 5 minutes walk and a fabulous children's playground off-site which was immaculately kept and completely deserted! To find these, leave via the rear entrance to the site, turn right and walk down the lane.

August 2004 Stayed in Area 9 which is the very exposed overspill field but with beatiful scenery and fantastic walks. I opened my tent door to sea views every morning - lovely...
Onsite facilities: shop, toilets, showers.
Paid: £11.60 per night for two adults, tent and one car.
Shop stock adequate and reasonably priced. Toilet and shower blocks a real let down - dirt everywhere from grass, mildew, mould, dead bugs (which had been there for quite a while), chewing gum on the walls, window sills and floors!
Ideally situated for ramblers with great hill climbs and walks along the Dorset coast.
Good site let down by dismal toilets / showers.
