Have just returned from this site and although I cannot fault the location, the toilet block leaves a great deal to be desired. Whilst I appreciate it is old and outdated and I understand there are plans to build a new one for next season, there is nothing stopping a better cleaning regime being put into place. Even after it had been cleaned it still looked grimy. Perhaps Im just being a bit fussy, but having been on other sites I know it is possible to forgive any number of ills if the cleaning is up to scratch.
The top field is also on a steep hill and would advise extra strong pegs as it was constantly windy, even on a sunny day.

The location of this place is STUNNING. The harbour is beautiful and the views from the top of the cliff amazing. HOWEVER! It's expensive considering the facilities are very dated. Showers wouldn't stay on, were far too hot and the drains backed up till you were practically in a bath. We stayed on the tent field, the pitches were spacious enough but the bins nearby didn't get emptied throughout our stay. Once the bins overflowed the birds took to spreading the rubbish all over the field, which after several days of no-one caring we picked up ourselves. Didn't think much of the man in the 4x4 scrutinising us every morning (as he drove around the rubbish!).

We have just spent two weeks at watermouth cove holiday park, A great location, but very disappointed with amenities as this is advertised as a luxurious caravan site. The toilet and shower block very much out dated, showers hardly working most of the time, hit or miss whether you had one. It also says that there is entertainment in the club most nights in high season, the first week it was two nights, one was a resident singer and karaoke, and the other was the same singer, a quiz and horse racing. When I asked the manager about the entertainmaint he told me that they had only taken over the site in May. So the following week was the same as the first and when I spoke to the owner about the toilets and showers he asked how long are you staying, I said another week and his reply was if your not happy I'll refund your money and you'll have to leave the site. After paying thirty pounds a night we expected a lot better. Needless to say we will not be visiting this site again, as we can get better value elsewhere.

This was my first visit to this campsite so do not know what it was like under previous ownership the site was clean the showers were too hot for children but were cleaned every day the small shingle beach was ideal for my grandson with its small rock pools and small caves to explore. The new owners had only taken over a couple of weeks before we arrived but were making big improvements in making the site better, i.e. the kitchen was totally rebuilt so there was no food but having seen the work done I am sure future campers will enjoy excellent meals. The clubhouse was small but friendly with staff also making our holiday enjoyable. I will return again.

We just spent a week at this site. With its superb location - one end of the site is on Watermouth Cove itself and the other is on a small private shingle beach ideal for crabbing and rock pooling -- this should be one of the best sites in Devon. Pitches are large (although not clearly marked out so there is some confusion as to who pitches where), the two small pools are great if you don't have small children who need shallow water, and the site is handy for Combe Martin, Ilfracombe and Watermouth Castle. What lets it down however is the state of the toilet block. Ageing Portakabins with timed push-button showers that were too hot for children to use, and where the button pushes out after 1 second. Leaking toilet pans ensured a paddle whenever you needed to use the faciltiies. At £18 per night the site needs to provide better - particularly as Big Meadow Camping next door offers better toilet facilities (although no pool or club etc) for £6.50 per night!

I have not really felt compelled to leave comments on a campsite we have stayed at before, but on arriving home after our long weekend at Watermouth Cove I definitely feel the need! We arrived on-site Friday evening and received a warm welcome from reception which was in the bar as we arrived after 7pm. The pitch we were shown was great, a nice size and very flat. Unfortunately this is where the niceties end, on entering the shower/toilet area I was appalled at the state of the cubicles, there was litter on the floor most cubicles didn't have paper in them and to cap it all off not one soap dispenser had any soap inside! Obviously i mentioned the soap situation to the owner who's only response was that he can't do anything about it as "the kids nick it all" My wife also complained as there was none in the ladies either only to get the same excuse! The dispensers remained empty all weekend and no attempt was made to clean the cubicles or put bars of soap out. I feel this was exteremly poor especially for people staying in tents who must rely on this for general cleanliness. One last gripe, when staying on site expect to be asked if you are a paying custemer by the owner atleast three times a day which is what we got every time we walked through the park. I understand the need for security but if you are this obsessed by it then hand out passes or somthing on arrival, surely this would be easier than getting on everyones nerves each day.

Our second visit to Watermouth, what a gorgeous part of the country, this stunning part of the world is famous for attracting walkers and birdwatchers alike. Campsite clean. Hookups for caravaners. Children's play area next to an otherwise pretty stream containing a few rusty bins with rusty and wornout play equipment. Toilets - nice and clean Entertainment - great if you like Karaoke. Pool - 2 great pools, very cold Local shops. Hele bay 2 miles East, groceries etc very good. Combe Martin, 3 miles West all ammeneties and very good. Surrounding area - Stunning Watermouth Cove Holiday Park was a perfect place to stop. I say was, the last visit was fantastic, unfortunately the site is under new management and changes are afoot! prices are set to increase (already pricey) and the usual friendly faces at the shop are now replaced by extremely unwelcoming staff. The bushes and hedges where we used to watch the local birdlife, all mown down, the beautiful headland where locals and campers roam are now hassled by a huge man driving a huge 4 wheel drive asking if you are campers or not, we saw many people ejected from this beautiful spot in a 'get of my land' attitude, and unfortunate enough to witness one such elderly local person rudely sent packing in tears. We were so digusted at this conduct that we left and set up in the adjoining campsite 'Big Meadow' which we wholeheartedly recommend! So minus several Stars for this Campite!

We spent a brill ten days at Watermouth last year. Pitches a big enough for any size tent. Loads to keep the kids busy, at one end there is the Harbour for crabbing, fishing and just mucking around. At the opposite end of the site is the private beach, though small, is safe and clean, along with the bar, take away and games room and in the middle is a play area for the younger kids. The pools are good but god where they cold, even in August. The site is very clean and well maintained by the staff, who where very friendly. Even though it was full for our visit we never felt closed in as there is loads of space

We were in the camping field, and there was a big slope. That was the only downside to the fortnight we had here. The club on site was good, and a lovely little boating club in the harbour that is only open friday and saturday. The beach wasn't what I would call a beach but the kids enjoyed it, the pools were cold but ok once you had took the plunge. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this site.

Mixed opinions, we chose this site as it stated own beach, but not specified that it is a shingle beach, and is tiny. That said it is our only gripe.
The harbour is fantasic, our daughter brought her own net from the shop and enjoyed catching crabs etc all week. The harbour master is great so friendly, and a must is to and sample his fresh crab and lobster (get there early). The outdoor pools were too cold although weather good. Our daughter age 7 loved it, safe, friendly, and very personal, our gas ran out at 8:30 one night but they still opened up the shop for us. The shower block was adequate but would like to see it updated, playground for the kids was fine and central in the park so easy to keep a check on them.
Ilfracombe and Combe Martin are within 10 minutes drive, so even on cooler days, retail therapy is within easy reach. Will definatly return
