We loved this site even though we did feel hemmed. The owners are very nice and helpful the showers and toilets are not great and get quite stinky and dirty at times, though this is down to the individuals that use them. I must stress that the main camping field is on a slope and the bottom pitches bear the brunt of the bad weather and flooded badly. The childrens playground is ok in the dry weather. The bar is nice and gets very busy in peak periods. The takeaway food is very nice and good value for money. The beach and caves are fantastic our children never tired of playing in there. There is a fantastic headland walk with some spectacular views out to sea. We will definitely go back but it would be nice to see a few improvements like new toilet and shower facilities and a nice new payground for the children that is not sited at the bottom of the campfield. The swimming pools are very nice one is heated and one is not.

The site was easy to find and has everything you would want from a site with regard to location. Harbour, cove, swimming pool, shop, restaurant, bar and games room, playarea for the children, nice little shop. The weather was mainly poor we had I think two afternoons of sunshine throughout our weeks stay. The site was therefore punished and the bottom part of the site suffered with small ponds developing. Camping in tents on this site became very difficult. The childrens' play area then became a mud bath which was then an off limits area for our children as I had not packed our welly boots. The main problem I encountered was the shower facilities these were portable along with the toilets and as a familiy site I expected a good size shower unit, it was impossible to take all three children in the shower at the same time as I have done on previous sites. The water was a trickle and not particularly warm, my husband however found the mens to be too hot. We had a hard standing pitch which was slightly smaller than the others and therefore we were slightly squashed when awning and car was parked meaning the children had to play on the road. On a sunny week I am sure I would only have praise for the site they did their best to entertain but I guess the weather got the better of me. I would recommend the site and would go back, out of season.

This is a lovely site with lots of the facilities usually only found in the larger sites. We had an EHU so were in the main field on the floor of the valley. This put us fairly close to the toilet block which is a set of new portacabins offering all that is needed; washing, showering, cleaning etc. The site also has two swimming pools (both nice and clean), a shop (well stocked) and a small clubhouse (nice with varied entertainment). Our kids were able to explore the private cove and beach while being watched by us from the clubhouse garden.
The site is right on the coastline meaning the upper fields can suffer from the worst of the winds so pick your pitch with care and make sure your tent is well tethered, ours was surprisingly ok but some others got blown out completely. Also being on the coast there are coastline walks, fishing and a small harbour accessible from the site. Site security was friendly, helpful and efficient.
We don't normally believe in going back to the same place twice but we could break our rule here. It is a very nice site in a great location. Make sure you go rock pooling in Coombe Martin, a must on any day even rainy ones.

We recently spent 4 nights at this campsite, and overall we would give it a rating of 7 out of 10.
The area that this camp site is in is fantastic, the private beach and the caves are a great pace to explore and its literally right next to the camp site. The views of the harbour are also really amazing, and if you are lucky you may see some Dolphins just off the coast. The staff at the campsite are also really friendly and helpful and the amenities are very good.
Unfortunately, during our stay it decided to rain pretty much constantly, and our tent was on a slight hill meaning that when it rained the water poured through the floor of the tent. This was not helped by our next door neighbours emptying their inflatable boat of water and resulting in gallons of water washing through our tent. The neighbours were one of the staff / owners of the campsite, but they did give us a ground sheet and were very apologetic, so these things happen. They were a bit noisy though, the woman was pretty much always shouting at either her husband, her children or the dogs - which didnt make them look very professional.
The toilet and shower block were ok, but could have been cleaner. There was a cleaning rota inside the toilets but this was blank, never saw anything written on it!
Overall, this campsite is a really great place to go, but if there is any rain forecast you should go prepared, and the best pitch is away from the main pathway / road as otherwise it can get very noisy.

A good sized campsite not too many people , there was a group of 24 of us kids all ages from 4 -17 and all had a great time, kids loved the pool and down on the beach which is small but very pretty kids jumping off rocks and exploring the caves. We had a good pitch and the scenery was stunning, quite at night, but also has a good clubhouse to go and have home-cooked food and a pint. Showers block was clean, the staff were very friendly and polite. I would recommend this campsite and would go back again. Nobody wanted to go home!

We camped here over a long weekend of 4 nights. We were late to the site as everything that could happen with the traffic did, motorways closed, roads shut you know the problems, we arrived after 10pm at night in the end. Luckily everyone else travelling that day did too. We were expecting to have to sleep in the car but a man on a quad bike met us and took us to our pitch. It was very dark but we managed to get the tent up and was in our sleeping bags by 11.30pm not bad going really.
It is lovely place to explore for kids, my nephews really enjoyed it bless them after such a journey to get there. The cove is lovely and the watermouth is great to paddle down by the rocks and watching the boats. There is great views from the campsite of Watermouth Castle and over the rocks to the sea. Watermouth Castle is worth a visit if you have small children as there are a few rides there for them to keep them entertained.
There is great facilities on site there are a couple of toilet blocks and a shower block that are very clean but basic. There is a shop and swimming pool and club house, a bit cheesy but the food was lovely and they had entertainment on everynight. You have to get there early for a seat though as it gets very busy.
The shop is a bit expensive but there is a Tesco just down the road in Ilfracombe. It is situated in a great place for touring the North Coast of Devon. If you have never been before Woolacombe beach is definitely worth a visit, it is massive!
We would go back again as we really enjoyed ourselves, makes you wonder why so many people go abroad when we have such wonderful places on our doorstep. Would recommend a visit to the site it is good value for the money.

We have just returned from nearly two weeks at this site. First impressions as we drove in weren't particularly good however the welcome we received from the security man and 'quad man' (who escorted us to our pitch) was very warm. The main site was very muddy and I know had been flooded out earlier in the season. Some pitches were still very wet and they regularly added wood chippings and gravel to these. The childrens play area which looked fantastic was a mud pit and our kids didn't play in there first nor last! We were on the tent field as we didn't need EHU and we had 2 pitches because of the size of our tent (Royal Montpellier 9). It is the first time in 4 years with this tent but we wanted the facilities this site offered. Our pitch was slightly sloping but perfectly manageable however some of the pitches higher up were awful. A diablo 600 over the bank holiday weekend looked as though it was about to roll down the hill! That said the views from the top of the field were stunning - cliffs and the sea. As noted in previous reviews the tent field is very windy but the only minor problem this caused was at the start of holiday when the ground was still very wet and wouldn't hold the pegs in securely (although our new deltas held firm throughout). Several times a day 'quad man' went around the site checking pitches and I would assume safety issues. He was very friendly and even pointed out the best place to sit on the cliffs to see the dolphins. You'd often see him having a footie game with some of the kids.
One point I would like to make here is that the tent field is actually the dog walking field. All but one of the dog owners on this field were responsible and didn't let their dog roam but one dog just wandered about and toileted wherever it wanted and the owners didn't even notice. Several families near us had not been told that they were to camp on the dog field. The shop was reasonably well stocked and I thought very expensive but the staff were always very helpful and friendly. The ice creams were delicious. They sold a minimal amount of fresh food so we visited Tescos - about 8 mins drive away- most days. Our 3 kids loved the swimming pools. My husband definitely preferred the warm one! They were well maintained however we were not allowed to take our dog into the pool area which meant only one of us could take the kids. We always go for a site with a pool when camping with our dog as you are so limited for beaches. This is the first time we have encountered this issue. There are notices all over the place giving site rules including picking up after your dog (the penalty for not doing so being told to leave the site) so it would have been nice to have been trusted to use this area.
The food served in the pub/club was lovely and we had several meals there. The kids loved playing on the little beach overlooked by the pub garden. This meant we could sit there with a chilled wine and the dog and watch the kids play. Dogs are not allowed on the beach for obvious hygiene reasons. Our kids favourite part of the site was the private caves. We went down there at high and low tide and the rock pools were a real hit. The steps down are very steep. The dog is allowed down here though so this was something we could use as a family. My one major complaint about this site is the toilet/shower facility. The showers were tiny, definitely not big enough to shower yourself and the kids at the same time. The water dribbled out and you had to press the button every 60 seconds to keep the water running. We found both the showers and loos very dirty on most occasions and we resorted to only showering every other day because the experience was so unpleasant. Overall we had a really good time on this site and would return. Where else can you get a harbour immediately behind your tent and a cliff from which you can spot dolphins less than 50 metres in front?

We visited Watermouth Cove holiday park for four days over the bank holiday weekend. The weather was fantastic, clear blue skies all day which meant that this was the best camping experience we've had (2 x South of France, Italy, mid France, Littlehampton, 2 x Brecon, 2 x Wye valley). What a great location, coastal views, a small beach, a harbour. We took an inflatable kayak with us which gave us the option of using the beach. We ventured out on the Sunday with the intention of going to Woolacombe beach but gave up after 45 mins in traffic, mainly because the camp site is such a nice place to stay.
The pitches were a good size, staff friendly and security conscious (one the first day I was politely checked out three times). The portable toilet/shower block was ok but a little smelly at times. The club house was very convenient for an ocaisional drink and the shop was adequately stocked. The swimming pools are quite small so great for kids but no good for lengths, one is heated.
In our group we had a very reluctant camper who by the end of the holiday had decided she loved camping, although the weather may have been a big influence.
The acid test is whether we will return and the answer is that we will.

Appreciate wet and windy but would advise against the view sites. Very hilly and stony so you will not be able to put tent pegs in. Site at the time of our visit - lower field was waterlogged and children's play area mostly under water. Porto-loos on site not very pleasant.

We have just come back from a weeks camping at Watermouth Cove. Before going we read the reviews on this site but were disappointed by the actual site when we arrived. We found the toilet blocks to be dirty especially the men's. The best time to visit the toilet was straight after they had been cleaned but by the evening they weren't very pleasant. There was also no soap for washing hands afterwards. The showers although small were clean. We were also unlucky enough to have a week of rain which meant the field was waterlogged and very muddy, not helped by people driving their cars over the field to their pitches. The playground was also a mud bath from the rain so not very practical for children. The people who worked on the site however were very pleasant and helpful but we won't be going again as it wasn't for us.
