2001, 2002, 2003 - Total of 6 Wks I have visited this site many times since we took up caravanning. Reading some comments in other reviews I feel the need to come to their defence. I have no connection to the site except as a paying customer.
I also hope that they have built the new toilet block, but the comment about flooding is unfair as it seemed to me that it only flooded when there were unruly children on the site! The block is cleaned twice a day. A quick word with the staff if a shower is not working would have solved the problem - did the other reviewer mention it? If I have a problem with the showers it is that the water is tooooo hot for me sometimes.
6" of water at the beach? Must have gone at high tide when the water reaches up to the top bit of sand. Below that is some rocks then when the tide goes out a bit more there is a long expanse of beach! Dont forget the water level rises about 30 ft between high and low water here!
Club House - Alan, the owner, goes out of his way to welcome his customers and engages all in conversation. There are a number of people who have seasonal pitches almost all of whom are friendly and willing to point out places of interest to visit. Lets face it they have been going there years so know the area quite well.
Not able to get to your own pitch - I have seen this - Alan is sometimes too soft on groups in tents who seem to spread out over neighbouring pitches.
The new shop is up and running and was quite well stocked Sept 2003.
To sum up - Stunning views, Quiet locality, Friendly staff, Staggering distance between pitch and pub.
I will be going back there in September 2004.

May 2003 Stunning location, but the site is very run-down. The shower block was cleaned daily but always flooded. The showers had plenty of hot water but only one worked properly. Had a great children’s play park, again a bit old but the kids LOVED it! Loads of open area and some nice walks. Overall, worth visiting even if only for the location.

Aug 2001,2002 great family run site, small and quiet until there is a grand prix race on! clean facilities and plenty of space, great for families and for people with dogs. Does get very windy though!

May 2003 The campsite is in a lovely location opposite Watermouth Castle. The facilities, ie toiltes/showers were good and cleaned everyday. The site has its own small harbour which can get a little noisy in the evening with the sound of the boat engines. The pitches were of a good size but we had one on a slight slope which made putting the tent up a bit akward. Overall a very good site and we will definately be visiting again

August 2002 This site is set in a stunning location with a harbour at one end and a small beach at the other. There are cliff top walks directly from the site. For those with small children this could be a problem, but we loved it. We never tried the club house in the evenings so can't comment on that as we preferred to stroll down to the harbour and watch the sunset! There was a security code on the door to the pool and children had to be accompanied as there was no lifeguard. The shop was well stocked. The toilet block was a major problem but I believe it was to be replaced over the winter. In high season when we visited there were far too many units packed in to the space, which caused problems for people trying to move their caravans on or off the site. Overall though this is a beautiful site with a friendly atmosphere that we would definitely consider revisiting.
