This is a great site if you like bars, swimming pools, kids play areas and your neighbours.
We camped there this August and to say they are squeezing you on is an understatement! The pitches in the tent area (Pitches TA31-42 approx, can't remember exactly) are so small if you have anything even approaching a modern family tent you are going to have to get on very well with the people either side of you. Our guy ropes were crossed with the people next door. The closer to the toilets the pitches also got very uneven and stoney. A couple of the pitches were like a recently cleared builders yard. There were some other pitches which were great with loads of space around them (further up the hill from the TA pitches), but they seemed to be considered the worst on the site. They looked like the best ones to us!
The toilets for the tent area are inadequate and not in a great state of repair. The main toilets are very good.
The swimming pools are small but the kids love them and they were a source of much fun. The 'Private Beach' is a misnomer. The kids play area was pretty good although poorly drained. This led to a build up of mud below the slides.
The bar was great value and the food served hot and by friendly staff. The on site shop was also reasonably well stocked. Although 25p each to freeze a cool block seemed a bit steep.
So, if you like it busy and don't mind a squeeze this is a great site. The area it is situated in is beautiful

We have just returned from 7 nights at Watermouth cove park. (2 Adults and 1 Child). I would review this site with very mixed feelings, which I hope will be useful.
Arrival-
Very easy to find and we were met at the entrance by Ken, who was very friendly and helpful. We were sited straight away and he gave us a brief but informative overview of the site.
Pitch/facilities
Our pitch was very spacious and had plenty of room around our tent to park our car and sit outside. However I spoke to a number of other people further down the site who weren’t even able to park their car alongside their tent. The site did become very boggy and muddy during our stay, however there were some heavy showers during our visit.
There is a nice play area on site however while we were there it was a complete mud bath and all children using it ended up covered in mud (not that it worried them).
2 swimming pools on site, 1 very cold the other okish as long as you kept swimming.
The shower block is of the port cabin variety, quite small and ok for 1. At the beginning of the week they were quite clean, however as the week went on the standard seamed to go downhill. The only time I saw them being cleaned was on our last day at 9.30 in the morning which caused a bit of a problem.
The washing up facilities were very spacious with loads of hot water.
The views from the top field are stunning, however open to the elements. A number of tents were affected by this while we were there.
My main concern with this site is that they have chickens and cockerels that start at 4.30 in the morning and carry on until about 7.30.
There were also a number of caravan owners that appear to have been there for many years, which were very noisy through to the early hours of the morning.

To be fair the site has excellent and hot individual showers, a well stocked shop and not to tacky bar area, 2 swimming pools, access to a rocky cove and beach erm oh and it's in a lovely part of North Devon. Now the flip side of this is if you are unlucky enough to visit during the peak season you will find a busy main field crammed and I do mean space was at a premium.
You might as we were, be really unfortunate and be allocated a pitch that was a)facing the toilet\shower block b)5-6 feet from a drain that doubled as the grey water disposal site! c)had the main access road round the site intersecting both toilets and drain. So we had a vista comprising a white building behind a busy road in front of an unprotected (no splash guards) grid that people sloshed their waste water down.
Did kid's congregate outside the toilets playing football? yes,did people insist on driving up to the block and emptying out their waste water? yes(how lazy is that), did the ladies toilet door emit a thud every time someone went in? yes, and was that toilet area blessed with strong lighting that stayed on all night? oh yes.

Well, we were greeted very nicely and shown to our pitch which was large and flat and well drained (it was very wet on our visit)
When we booked we were told that there were swimming pools, on arrival we were told these were closed, and had been at the time of booking.
We were also told there was entertainment at the time of our stay - there was none.
The showers and toilets (although clean) can only be described as portakabins. It was also impossible to shower a 3 yr old without getting soaked.
The shop is small, but has a good(ish) supply of essentials.
There is a lovely pub down the road that has excellent food!
The location is amazing - we were just highly upset that we were told incorrect info when booking.

Family (both of us, our 3 kids and son's friend) stayed at Watermouth Cove for 1 week June 2009. We stayed in a one bedroom chalet which was, at best, adequate. The chalets are very reasonably priced though so we weren't expecting a luxury chalet but it could have been a bit cleaner/fresher. Kids liked the games room, and there is a lovely pub/restaurant beside it. The surrounding area is beautiful with plenty of places to visit - our favourite for the whole family is Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park - it was fantastic !
A disappointment for us was that the two outdoor swimming pools were closed the whole time - they had been filled by the time we left but were not yet open (they did look lovely though). The launderette was handy but expensive (£4 for washing machine and £1 per 15 minutes for drier). Overall we thought the site was lovely, the views are great and the garden/pool areas seem well maintained.

This was on paper a wonderful campsite, and it was to a point. The scenery was fabulous, the toilets and wash rooms were were awkward if you had small children, as they were specialist portacabins. The bar on site was tacky and disappointing. There were children on site, who's parents worked in the pub, who were a disappointment by swearing at young children and hogging the play area. That said the sites views were amazing and most staff were very accommodating. I would think about going there again, but felt it was spoilt a little by unruly teenage children.

Myself my girlfriend and another couple stayed on this site for three nights. Arriving Friday and Leaving Monday. I would score the site a 9/10 overall. Broken down into the following;
Arrivals:
I had Phoned prior to arriving to let the site know that we would probably be arriving between half eight and nine as we all had work till about six Friday evening. When we arrived we were greeted by a very jolly chap who showed us to our pitch and gave us the basics about the site.
Pitch and site amenities
The pitch size was very generous adequate for our six man tent and car parked next to it on the pitch. The grass was in a very good condition as was the rest of the campsite. The toilets were in very good condition always kept clean and never seemed overcrowded. And certainly plenty of hot water.
The views around the site were stunning. With a harbour one end of the site and a small cove with a beach the other. The bar served great meals and at a good price. Be warned though the meals are huge so if your not a big eater I would avoid the starters.
There was plenty on offer in nearby towns. A short drive in either direction from the park and you would find something to do.
There was a small site on shop which sold all your basics and a few extras. Staff were very friendly and always said “good morning” which was nice. Only slight niggle was that both pools were closed for maintenance for the month. Although not a major problem as we could use the beach, we thought it would have been nice to know when we booked. But this was only a small problem and didn’t really effect us.
This is a very nice site all round and is definitely worth a visit. We had a wonderful time. And will definitely be returning.

The site was lovely.
I loved the cove and the coastal walk that was actually on the campsite.
However, one thing that I was disappointed in is the fact the website does not mention that the site keeps cockerels?! They kept me and my boyfriend up all night cock-a-doo-a-doodling!
From 2am until 6am when we gave up and just woke up early.
This is quite bad considering most of the campers are in tents.
Apart from that, the pub was lovely, showers and toilets clean and staff where great.
Also its in a great location with fantastic views.

We camped here for 3 nights to test our new tent and introduce our kids (aged 1 & 3) to camping. As it was low season the site was quiet (only one other tent) and we were able to pitch on the main field close to all the facilities.
All facilities were clean and in good working order. Shower cubicles were awkward for bathing young children but were very clean and water was warm and continuous. Toilet and shower blocks were thoroughly cleaned daily.
Laundry facilities were good. There is a small shop but not well stocked out of season. There is an outdoor pool, clubhouse and games room but we did not investigate these.
Our kids loved the adventure playground and feeding the ducks which swam in the brook beside the site.
The site has the harbour on one side and a private beach with caves and rock pools.
A pub just up the road (walkable too) did a great Sunday carvery.
Site within short drive of many attractions and walking distance to Watermouth castle.
We would definitely go back out of season. Can't say how the facilities would stand up to the number of people using them peak times.

We arrived late in the evening and were greeted with a very friendly welcome.
The staff took us directly to our lodge as it was dark when we got there.
The clubhouse is excellent with a wide variety of drinks, the menu is very very good, and we strongly recommend the steak, which is beautiful.
We booked to stay in a chalet/lodge for the weekend on the basis of if it's a nice site, we'll come again towing our caravan.
We were not disappointed at all so we will be booking for a couple of weeks next year.
The ground did have puddles at the bottom end of the site, but that is to be expected considering the rubbish weather we have had in the last 2 years.
Give this site a try, its a little gem
