Just returned from a superb week at Watermouth Cove, what a lovely site, stunning setting with breathtaking views

The main touring field is flat with ample space and plenty of water points and bins. There is only one toilet / shower block which was always clean and we never had to queue (the only grumble we had was that the shower water was extremely hot with no way of altering the temp not good on sun burn't skin )

There is a club on site but we did not use it during our stay (other campers we spoke to said the food was good). There are 2 outdoor swimming pools with plenty of sun loungers which we did use, these were clean but the water was very cold (I think the sea was warmer)

We hired a couple of Kayaks from reception (very good value at £10 per hour) and paddled from the sites private beach very nice. There are quite a few caves around the site when the tide is out, but please take care as they are very slippery

In summary an excellent site that we will definitely use again

Lovely location with access to a small beach and sea fishing spots. Showers, toilets and washing up are modern portable cabins with very hot water but somewhat cramped. Shop is basic but provides the essentials.

A number of people we spoke to said the restaurant was overpriced and average quality. The pitches are generally flat but not generous. You could find your selves pitched within a couple of meters of the neighbours.

Given the extensive booking conditions and code of conduct we expected the site to be quiet and well controlled. This however was not the case and there was a lot of noise from the tent field until the early hours. We were then woken again at 04:00 by the camps resident cockerels who didn't quieten down until 08:30. At 09:15 we were then treated to noisy lawn mowing over breakfast. Two very bad nights sleep.

There are a couple of other sites very close which are much cheaper and quieter.

Just returned from a week at Watermouth Cove and thought we would give some feedback. The campsite is in a fabulous location with private beach, caves to explore and direct access to the harbour and headland walks which means there is something for all ages. The views from the headland are spectacular and if your lucky you may see the Dolphins playing in the bay. The caves and rock pools gave the children hours of fun looking for crabs and sea urchins and we were very lucky to find a lobster hidding under a crevice in one of the pools.

The shop is adequately stocked with bare essentials although over priced, but good for emergencies. The pitches were of a good size but the layout wasn't to our liking as it was very regimented and meant it was harder to socialise with those around you.

The negatives for us having camped at many sites around the uk for many years were: this was singularly the most expensive site we have ever stayed at, and therefore our hopes were high on arrival. Having stayed for a week we felt ripped off and over charged, because, although the location is lovely you could stay in any of the other parks within the area and visit beautiful beeches, the harbour at much lower prices hence saving you a lot of money.

The showers were very clean but worked on a push button system which is infuriating when you have to press it 12 times for one shower. They are also very small which makes it virtually impossible to assist small children. There are only hand wash basins which are very small in the toilets, so again difficult to wash yourself.

The launderette was ridiculously priced at £5 per wash. The fresh water tap is based towards tents with filling up small containers and to fill a 40ltr aquaroll you either had to hold the roll up to the tap which is very heavy as it fills OR try to aim with a 2 foot gap splashing and wasting a lot of water. The children's play area was locked at 9. 30pm which meant the only place for teenagers to go was the amusement area, again aimed at getting kids to spend money.

The staff access the site on quadbikes which at times we were amazed at the speed they drove at given that there were small children around. Touring and camping for our friends is about enjoying peace and quiet in beautiful locations, and on this site the location was fantastic however the peace and quiet was continually disturbed by several cockerels kept by the owners which ranted from 2. 30am and continued all day and all night, and for this reason we would never return.

Stayed for one night, in the middle of June.

Receptionist indifferent, other site staff outside drinking wine. Taken to pitch that really was the smallest available situated between the walkway from camping field to caravan field.

Noise from camping field continued until 1 am, no wardens. Wardens came round next morning at 10. 30 am waiting for us to move of site. To empty waste means stopping on the access road, blocking traffic.

Toilet and showers are just portable cabins.

The pretty little harbour mentioned is actually a private do it yourself boat repair/storage area, that has access only through one way gate.

Cost £26. 00.

This was the third year running that we visited Watermouth cove. This time it was me and my partner. The previous two stays had been perfect and so was this one.

Right from arrival we had a warm greeting and shown to our pitch from a very polite Australian man. The weather forecast wasn't the best so we found we were the only tent on site.

This didn't bother us one bit though as all the facilities were in great condition, shop well stocked and even the bar was open which was great considering there were so little campers on site. A fellow tent appeared on the Saturday and they looked like they enjoyed themselves to. Even with all the wet weather!

Watermouth is a great base to explore surrounding areas. We spent a couple of days in Ilfracombe around the harbour which was lovely. But the greatest scenery to be had is from the site itself. If you walk the headland walks you will be gob smacked at the rugged landscape all around you. I spent most evenings walking around with my cameras. The sunset over the harbour and around the headlands is quite something.

The site even has it's own private beach called 'Briary beach'. It has caves to wonder through and to watch the tide come and go is quite spectacular as the Bristol channel has something like the second biggest tidal range in the world. So one minute you can wonder through the caves and the beach. Pop back at high tide and the surrounding landscaped has completely changed.

The food and drink in the bar were excellent. Plenty of drinks and food to choose from. It's certainly well worth the wait for the food as it is freshly prepared and very tasty. All the staff were very friendly and made you feel most welcome.

The weather took a turn for the worse during our stay. (the biggest thunderstorm I have ever witnessed) but this didn't bother us and the ground drained well so no huge puddles laying about.

Overall I give this site a 10/10 for our stay and I am already looking forward to planning our next stay at Watermouth Cove.

We would not usually go for a site like this one. Our usual style is back to basics and no frills. However, this is a real cracker of a site. Although you have the dreaded pre marked pitches, they are a fair size, and for the most part level. Unless you are lucky enough that they let you stay in the top field, and then who cares if the pitch is not level, you have the best view in the world.

The site is very children orientated, the last time we were there we went on a midnight mission to oil the swings and stop the incessant squeaking. It worked a treat.

The shop is well equipped, and the kayak hire is highly recommended. The coastline is stunning, and what better way to see it.

The toilets and showers are clean and plentiful.

The bar is useful for a nice local drink, and the staff are friendly. Oh and of course you have the swimming pools too. So many things to do. We found ourselves booking in for an extra couple of nights.

The campsite is in a great location, with great views and situated next to watermouth cove harbour and castle.

Ideally located for visiting woolacombe or lyton and lynmouth.

The facilities on the site were excellent, toilets and showers cleaned regularly, the kids loved the park and play area.

There are rockpools (caves) to explore, paths to wnder down to the lovely sea views, then you also have the harbour.

We were very pleased with the site, definitely recommend it.The site shop was stocked with basic essentials, a tad expensive.

We have recently returned from a weeks holiday at the park. On arrival we were greeted very warmly by a lady who we later found out was the owner, and given brief information about the site and surrounding area. We were then shown to our pitch, which we found to be very spacious, big enough for our tent which is 7.5m long, a trailer and the car next each other.

Despite having a lot of rain the pitches seemed to be well drained, although sadly the play area was not which resulted in a lot more washing! We were relieved to find the playarea went quiet by 10pm, despite there being a lot of teenagers there during our week.

The private beach is ok.Nice enough for the kids to paddle, although no good for young children to swim, it has great sandcastle sand, and caves to explore when the tides out.

The shower/toilets were of a basic, acceptable standard, although the plug holes were clogged with hair, and the floors were never cleaned during the week we spent there. This is something which was talked about by many guests I met.

The harbour is beautiful, as is the surrounding area, we visited Combemartin (great for crabbing, nice little fish & chip shop), Hele bay (nice pub there-family friendly), and found all to be lovely.

On- site takeaway fish and chips was a disappointment, only had it once!

Overall, we had a lovely holiday. The location won us over, the cleaning issues are easily remedied.

This an excellent site conveniently situated for ilfracoombe, woolacoombe and of course coombe martin.

Nice friendly helpful staff. Well maintained pitches not too close together nice park clean showers with plenty of hot water although a little small and clean toilets we were here for a week and it was lovely always toilet roll in the loo and very well kept.

The caves and the private beach were a nice venture to for the kids where they can explore. Marks out of 10 I would give it 8 only because the showers although nice and hot were a little small and you have to keep pushing the button in to keep the water flowing which did become a bit of a bind.

One of the pools was supposed to be heated but was still very cold which our youngest found too much so didn't really get the benefit of the pools because of this also the weather wasn't too great the rest of the week to use them anyway.

Our girls are of 11 and 9 and both were really pleased staying here having plenty to do. I would recommend this site to friends.

I visited this site again after a lovely stay last year. This time it was myself and two friends. We arrived on the Thursday late afternoon and the weather had been awful all the way from Dorset. On arrival the rain was still coming down hard but that didn't hamper our spirits. We checked in at the bar and were showed a map to our pitch. It didn't take us long to put the tent up in the rain and were thankful the pitch was nice and large for our big six man tent.

We went to the bar every night we were there and got quite chummy with one of the barmen who was a very nice chap and always friendly.

The pool was nice and refreshing and a good source of amusement. Food in the bar was very good as were the drinks on offer.

The toilet and shower block were more than fine and served the campsite well, plenty of hot water which is always good.

The location is superb what with the private beach and caves and many walks along the headlands watching the sunset. During the weekend and when the nice weather came the site got busier but never lost its charm.

All in all another great holiday at this site one which we will definitely be returning to again shortly.
