Fantastic site, if a little difficult to get to (ie Don't believe your sat nav) use the instructions on the flyer the campsite send you.
First impressions are excellent. The site is well laid out with numerous electric pitches and a field set aside for non-electric pitches although this was a little sloped in places.
We had a designated electric hook up pitch with plenty of space for our tent and car to park alongside. The pitch was level with no stones to clear and the tent pegs went in very easily. The electric point also had a tap with drinking water for our pitch (I don't know if this is normal having never had an electric pitch before, but was much better than lugging great-big water carriers about).
The shower/toilet/pot-wash facility was all in one place and required a key (available for a £10 deposit at check in, along with a fob to gain vehicle access through the barriers at the entrance to the site) to gain entry, although if you forgot to take the key with you there were plenty of other campers going in and out regularly so you didn't have to wait long to be let in!
The children's playground was well kept (and very well used by our kids) it seemed to cater for 2 to 14 year olds, with older children using the games room next to the reception.
The owners were very friendly and were able to recommend various attractions in the area, including a good curry house (un-licenced) in Settle 2 miles away.
Literally two minutes from the campsite is the river Ribble, and given it was 25 degrees centigrade it was most welcome for us. Our kids bought fishing nets from the camp shop and used these to catch a few small fish.
The sound from the small waterfall could be heard throughout the night (especially when the neighbours finally went to bed at 1am!) and this proved very soothing.
A 10 minute walk led to the nearest village where we went for a pub meal. The bar manager was very nice and did explain there was going to be a wait for food, but it eventually arrived an hour and a quarter after we had ordered it and was mediocre at best. I suggest either going further afield for food or cooking for yourself.
In summary, this is an excellent site with spotless toilets/showers. The surrounding area is fantastic for walking, but also offers plenty to do for kids (e.G. White scar cave). The river at the bottom of the campsite could provide endless hours of cheap fun, depending on the weather.
We will almost certainly go back (and will try to persuade our caravanning friends to come with us).

Spent a Friday and Saturday night here. It was wonderful right from the start. We arrived to a warm welcome and checked in. Had a standard pitch and there was plenty of room, it's a fairly large site. We camped in the bottom field near the river.
Some reviews stated the river was noisy as there is a waterfall, but to be honest it didn't bother either of us, and I am a very light sleeper and running water makes me need the loo! It was fine, it's actually at least 20 metres away, the noise was more like breeze in the trees. It was a nice addition actually to just go sit and chill there.
The site was very tidy and well looked after. The toilets/showers, I could not fault. No extra fee to use and after a hard walk it was nice to get back and the showers still be hot.
The pitch was on a very gentle slope, unnoticeable with careful pitching. Good drainage and soft ground, we had a torrential downpour on Friday night but you wouldn't have known in the morning.
Superb quiet location, beautiful scenery and an idea spot for walking. Paths go from the site, we went up through Stainforth village and up Pen Y Ghent via Horton.
There is a small shop at the reception which just appeared to stock basics. Five/ten minutes drive into Grassington and there is a Booths supermarket. A pub is within walking distance over the river and up a short but steep hill, we managed it ok even after our 13 mile walk, thirst and hunger is a great motivator! Food was typical pub grub, we didn't think it was anything special but we would go again if we stayed here. Nice friendly, warm pub though with a very welcoming landlord.
Good dog exercising area, and a good size children's play area which all looked very safe and well maintained. Washing machines and indoor pot wash, also a games room but we didn't see/use this.
Regards the bridge, yes it is tight. I was in a vw golf and would not have wanted to drive over in anything wider, only a couple of cm either side of my mirrors clearance! The other road has good access for larger vehicles though.
To recap-A fantastic site and would definitely visit again.

Our first family camping trip away in our new tent and we choose a site fairly near home on a friend's recommendation.
The site is easy to find if you follow the directions given to avoid the very narrow bridge over the Ribble. We watched a few medium Astra Sized cars only just make it across unscathed !
A very easy booking in procedure from the friendly staff. We messed up a bit by following the advice about 'pitch any where down there' and didn't realise we'd pitched on a prebooked EHU point. Still thanks to a very friendly couple who agreed to budge up a bit and the staff's attitude, it wasn't a problem. In the end we moved over onto the non EHU pitches so we could be next to out buddies who were joining us.
The playground was brilliant for our group's kids aged 8, 6, 4 and nearly 4, especially the big field for footy.
The shower and toilet blocks were clean and warm always, as was the pot wash facilities.
We didn't use the games room but the shop stocked everything we needed, even a replacement for a damaged airbed. The freezer block refreezing service was handy but be aware there is a charge of 10p per block refrozen.
We had a walk down by the river and luckily remembered our fishing nets but we didn't catch anything for tea ! The water fall was very strong due to the rain and to prove a point to our 4 young intrepid explorers I threw in a big log and was quite shocked to see it not surface for quite some time after it went over into the plunge pool. It made my mind up not to let them go over in the future in a dinghy.
All in we had a fab time, even with it getting down to about 4c on the first night and bouncing rain with high winds the 2nd but you can't book the weather.
If you want a happy friendly family site near Settle we would recommend this one.

Great site, beautiful location with stunning views. Toilets and showers clean and warm. Great if you like walking and exploring.
Close to settle, ingleton and other villages. Can recommend the chip shop in settle!
Well organised site, hardstanding and campers field. Good children's playground and if the weather is good they can play in the river.
We have stayed a few times and not been disappointed.
The lane up to the site is quite narrow but don't be put off. Lorries, big motorholmes etc can all manage it.

Excellent site. If you don't want entertainment and enjoy walking and beautiful scenery then this is definitely the site for you. Lovely clean and secure site. Barriers with a key fob to get in and out although with the site being so remote I don't think there would be a problem with intruders! Very clean and tidy shower/toilet block. Small play area for the kids and a games room above the reception area although I didn't see it myself so can't comment. Very very generous pitches and the views from your tent on a morning are breathtaking! Would definitely come back again, even the poor weather didn't put much of a dampener on things!

This is our second visit to this location. Since last summer the site has been improved, the carpark and access roads appear to have been upgraded, also a wooden fence has been erected around the children's play area.
Our visit was marred by the weather but you can't do much about that.
We had travelled as part of a family ranging in age from 4 to OAP's and all had an enjoyable time.
I must say this is one of the best sites I have visited

Had an excellent 2 night stay before Easter at this site. The shower block, toilets and washing facilities were first class with plenty of hot water at no extra charge. We were in a standard pitch to the right of the main entrance and the gently sloping site offered plenty of areas to pitch the tent. The hard standing path through the field allowed good access to tent and vehicles and also meant you didn't get your feet wet in the early morning dew. The site was busy, but there was plenty of room, no queuing for showers etc and it was quiet after 10pm. The glorious weather was an added bonus for a site in a stunning location in the Ribble valley. The walk along the river into Settle (about 2 miles)is well worth it, with plenty of shops, pubs and an excellent fish and chip shop.

Facilities were very clean and plenty of them. Kids enjoyed the park and the games room and had a lovely walk in surrounding areas especially along the river. Lovely place surrounded by farmland it was lovely seeing all the new lambs running around in the next field. Generally a quiet site, just families having fun and kids playing just how it should be!
Visited the local town which had everything you could need shops, takeaway and pub (although we didn't go in the pubs). Sat nav takes you over a very very narrow bridge, only just fit a car through so def follow the instructions from the site website.

An excellent site,
A fairly narrow lane to get to it, but no major problems.
Once there the staff are extremely helpful and the pitches are great. We were lucky enough to have a water point next to us with no one else using and so could connect direct.
Toilet blocks immaculate, despite inclement weather, and ample hot water.
10 minute hilly walk to pub in Stainforth, where excellent grub is served.
Weather was very bad, but no problems on a grassy pitch. Very well drained. We had a very slight slope, but nothing at all to worry about.

Just come back from a one night stay at Stainforth. It's very local for us and I must say it could have been a million miles away for our complete escape from our stressful working lives.Absolutely fantastic and peaceful site. Spotlessly clean showerblock, laundry facilities etc etc with a view to die for. The owners are true hard workers and ever so friendly. Thanks to everyone involved with this campsite. We most definitely will be returning. Will miss you when you close for the winter.
