Recently spent a couple of nights at this site. It is a relatively large site stiuated in a excellent location. The site is accessed by a remote barrier operated by a fob which you are given upon arrival(refundable deposit) The toilets/showers/washing block is very good and well maintained. For walkers there is plenty of scope in the area. I stayed on a std Tent pitch and found my stay entirely pleasurable.Lastly it is correct as previously mentioned there is no mobile phone service, however you can use wifi (for a nominal fee)

Fantastic site set in the lovely Yorkshire Dales, pitches well kept electric hook up if you required, staff friendly, shop ok for supplies.
Apparently there is wi-fi connection, but not interested in that I'm camping & walking in the Dales???
Clean shower blocks & toilets (heated, so if you go when its cold you can warm up in the toilet block)also pot wash room & laundry room very clean(they also have ironing boards).
Children's area is OK (we didn't use this area)but a lot of happy kids about.
Nice walks to Settle village or walk over bridge at back of camp site up steep hill you will find a lovely pub for grub.
Only let down for me is no site entertainment or bar/pub.
Would visit again.

This is not my usual sort of site at all, but I was lured by the location and by the bargain site fee for a small tent with cyclist. It turned out absolutely fine. I pitched in the big tent field, which was half full of enormous tents plus two tiny ones - mine and another cycle tourist. It was rather nice having the other campers to watch, and the kids all running about, as I was cooking my dinner. Even though it was school holidays there was enough room to not be affected by noise from other campers, partly because I was on the sloping part of the field away from all the other tents. (I kept sliding down my mat in the night!)
The facilities are good and clean despite constant use - it is a big site. There were the odd bits of litter around the field, which I've rarely seen in other sites, but it's such a big, well-used site that's probably inevitable.
It's in a lovely location and you could do several day's walks without getting into the car. I'd certainly consider coming here again.

Just returned from this wonderful site and would definitely return, couldn't fault it. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable.
The shower and toilet facilities are very clean and of a high standard. There is a nice little park for the under 12's where my kids spent a lot of their time.
Whilst our stay we visited Forbidden Corner which is a must for those who have children, about an hour away by car.
Plenty of pitches on site.
Only downfall for me was there was no mobile phone coverage but there is a telephone box on site.
Nice shops in Settle, good supermarket and the Chinese Takeaway was very nice.

We have just returned from this beautiful site. It rained most of the week but the drainage was excellent and we had a non EHU pitch at the bottom of the site. Very quiet except for the noise of the waterfall( not fot those with weak bladders !)
Site was very clean and we did not experience smells in the wash block that previous posters commented on. In fact, considering the rain, mud etc I must say the block was very clean. There was, on occasion queueing for the ladies showers ( just 4 )whilst the pot wash area was huge in comparison.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful and there are good recycling plots around the site. There are EHU pitches next to the playground ( 8 I think )contrary to a previous post but don't know if they have recently been put in.
The playground is for under 12's which left my son with little to do in hooking up with other kids. The river/waterfall is great and folk took dinghies down for a rather wild trip down it !
Lots of beautiful countryside and we had a very wet 4 1/2 mile walk around Ingleton Waterfalls trails, as well as Malham Cove.
Settle has a great Booth's supermarket and good takeaway outlets - Chinese closed on the Monday.
I loved this site for it's tranquillity, cleanliness, location and price - we will be back and well done to the owners.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this site and would definitely go back again if I could book some decent weather. We had EHU pitches 68 and 69 - 2 families of 4, just close enough to the park to see the kids and far enough to not hear them :)
GOOD POINTS
1) lovely surrounding countryside especially for walkers
2) very helpful staff - my husband wanted to collect some worms so that he could take our son fishing so they lent him a gardening fork.
3) shop stocks main items and not over priced
4) there is a fenced off field especially for dogs to have a good run in
5) fantastic pub 10 minutes walk away with great reasonably priced food and very friendly owners. Provided a colouring in book and pencil for our kids and lollies after their meal.
6) games room with TV and arcade games at only 10p a shot - ideal for wet moments
7)Wifi which we could use from the tent to skype home with or watch iPlayer
8) facilities very clean and tidy - 8 toilets and basins and 4 showers to each gender. Never had to queue. Automatic airfreshner in toilets (no further explanation required) Pot room and laundry in a nice dry area.
9) EHU pitches are huge and non EHU you can pitch where you like from what I could see.
We have no complaints so we will just call them NOT SO GOOD POINTS
1) area tends to get a bit more rain than other parts of country but unfortunately sunshine cant be ordered.
2) take your ear plugs because there is a lot of wildlife ie sheep and dogs which will wake you up early
3) could do with a time lock on barriers as there are some very inconsiderate people who will drive around at unsociable hours ie I don't consider it acceptable to drive not 10 feet from my bed on a gravel path at 7am - if youre going to be up that early, leave the car in the car park and don't be so inconsiderate to others !
4) my 8 year old got a bit bored with the park - could do with something else for the older ones
5) don't let Sat Nav take you to the site as it will lead you over a very narrow bridge
6) the laundry room needs some signs to tell you how much the washer/dryer is and how long it takes so that you don't have to pop back every 10 mins. Also some indication of what the settings mean would be useful.
7) my biggest gripe is with other people as there seems to be a new breed of campers who don't appreciate camping etiquette or plain common courtesy. I suggested that washrooms could do with some J cloths or paper towel so that people can wipe down their mess after them but this has been tried and had to be stopped as people were just taking the cloths! The other thing is the people who don't seem to have any volume control or realise that tent walls are only fabric. There were a lot of passing hitchhiking walkers who went to bed early but I doubt they got any sleep for the kids who were still screaming, running around after a ball in a game that only stopped when they physically couldn't see the ball anymore in the dark.
We had a great time at this site marred only by the weather and the lack of consideration of other 'campers'

My partner & I have just returned from a weeks stay at Knight Stainforth and have had quite a pleasant time.
The campsite is in a beautiful location and plenty of things to do in the surrounding area. We did a lot of walking while we were there and can thoroughly recommend, Ingleton Waterfalls, Malham Cove/Gordale Scar, Wernside & Ingleborough.
The facilities on the site were adequate but as it was peak time there are only 4 showers in the ladies & the same in the gents so most mornings you found yourself queueing unless you were up early. The overall cleanliness of the facilities was not great and the toilet block often smelt of urine.
When we arrived there was 1 washer & 1 dryer out of order this still had not been fixed when we left, this was a problem due to the weather being poor & the campsite busy.
The children's playground was ok but focused on things for younger children.
The shop stocked all basic amenities which was helpful. Overall the site location & Pitches were excellent, but everything else could have been better.
A must is the Craven Heifer pub which is a 10 min walk away into Stainforth, the food is excellent & the people are friendly everyone welcome even my 7 month old chocolate lab!

This is a friendly and welcoming site. There is a well stocked shop and a games room with a TV for the kids. The pitches were of a good size and the wifi was a plus as mobile signal was non existent.
A nice play area for the kids and excellent showers and washing facilities. There was a washing machine and dryer which was useful as wre were on a 2 week holiday. Site was very secure with a fob operated barrier and a key for the shower block.
A lovely setting and unlike another reviewer I enjoyed the sound of sheep first thing in the morning and the children were well behaved. It's good to see kids enjoying themselves and being kids!

A visit to Hawes is thoroughly recommended.
Settle had a swimming pool and co-op. Only downside was the rain during our stay but that was hardly the owners fault

An excellent, family friendly site in a pleasant setting close to the river Ribble. The pitches are a good size and the site provides plenty of space for children to amuse themselves including a playing field, a small playground area and a TV room. The washroom facilities are well maintained and clean with no queues during our stay. On site there is a small shop for essentials and in the village of Strainforth about half a mile away there is an excellent pub where the jumbo Yorkshire pud is a treat.

After a quick phone call to the site to check availability we headed to the site. We followed the satnav and it took us a route that is totally unsuitable for caravans and the bridge it takes you over is over 6 feet wide, so I would suggest you check you have the best route in before you leave. The route in was fine for us as we were travelling in a VW
The reception also doubles as a shop and has most of the basics you would require and camping accessories too. We booked in and they explained where everything was and showed us the camping areas on the map.
Near reception is the games room where you will find fussball, pool table, sky TV, arcade machines and more. Reception and the games and tv rooms are across the road to the site, but it is hardly a busy road.
The site is not the flattest but perfectly fine to level out with ramps and fine for tents. There is a large mixture of EHU and non ehu pitches and you can pitch where you like in the non ehu fields.
The toilet / shower block is very clean and well maintained and has four showers in the mens and plenty of toilets. There is also the washing up area and laundry in the same block. There are indivdual cubicles to wash and shave etc.
Fresh water and bins are all over the site, so no lack of these. The playground is great for the under 12's and is on the edge of the main non ehu field.
Settle is only about 3 miles away in the car, however we walked along the river from the site to Settle and took around an hour, and was stunning walk with some great scenery. Try the chips at the chippy at the foot of the hill opposite the public carpark , they were delicious. Spar and Co Op and restaurants and pubs in the village too
We went to Clapham and took the caves walk, this was great as there is a sheet of things to look out for and kept the kids occupied on the walk.
Wifi on site works, but can be slow, but at £2 per day is not expensive. Dogs are welcome and this is a great site that I would definitely come to again when in the area.
This is a great site and I would 100% return if ever in the area again.
