Just returned from a excellent weekend at a top class site. We arrived on a wet Friday afternoon & were told that we could pitch anywhere we liked. But hard standing space was limited as there was ongoing upgrade work in the hard standing area, this looks like it will be excellent when completed. We decided to pitch in in the same field as the kids play area due to us having a 4yo & knowing she would want to go & play when the weather improved. The site owner was more than happy to site the caravan with his 4x4 rather than risk us getting stuck or churning up the field. He did this with at least 4 over arrivals throughout the afternoon. He even helped us pitch & when I realised we had not brought any leveling blocks he sorted out some timber blocks for us, this guy was a star.
The loos & shower were superb & very clean. The kids play area was very good & can be seen from anywhere on the main field. TV reception was poor with the stratus aerial though this didn't bother us & for anyone getting any withdrawal from the soaps there is a TV & games room at reception. There was no issues or charges with departing late on a Sunday allowing us to take the short walk to the Craven Heifer at Stainforth for Sunday Lunch which was excellent. Overall this is one of the best sites that we have visited in a long time & as its only a hour or so down the road for us I'm sure that we will be back many more times.

What a fantastic site! the owners could not do enough and were always about cleaning the site. The facilities are the best I have ever experienced. The only downfall is that it is so hard to get a booking that you will need to book WELL IN ADVANCE to secure your pitch! Keep up the great work and we look forward to getting in soon.

We booked in here due to the fantastic reviews we have read and were not disapointed!.
The weather forcast for the Easter Bank Holiday was very poor but we thought we would brave it anway.
We had two tent pitches in a nice flat field near to the toilet block and childrens play ground.
My partner and myself took our 3 girls all under 12 years.
The toilets and showers were impecable, very clean and nice hot showers which are free.
There is also a great pot washing room and a very well equiped washing and drying room.
It is a very short walk to the fantastic river with lots of small waterfalls, but keep an eye on the kids!.
The staff could not be more helpful and even said he would only charge us for one pitch! despite us bringing two mountain tents.
As it was early season the shop was not fully stocked but I am sure it will be as the season starts.
The kids loved the games room, leaving us to has a glass of wine or two.
Beware of sat nav taking you over the narrowest bridge in the world!.
You would have a nightmare towing a van.
The owners said the are changing the postcode to avoid this.
A short walk into the village and the Craven Heifer Pub.
The staff were great and welcomed all our girls.
The food is superb value and the home made chips are fantastic. The real ale is also tops.
It has a fantatic beer garden right next to a stream,it will be great in summer.
We woke on the Sunday morning to be greeted by 7 inches of snow which the kids loved.
The owners kindly got the tractor out to clear the road for us.
All in all its superb and can not wait to come back in the summer.Well done Knight Stainforth.

Visited this site second year in succession and have just sent an e-mail request for 2 tents for may 2008. This is a lovely, clean friendly site with superb views of the surrounding hills.
The site caters for families (there is no club)having a safe playground for small children and plenty of space in the main field for footy or cricket for the older ones(i include myself). The shower/toilet block is always immaculate with plentiful hot water. There is a small games/tv room if the weather is bad. On our last visit I found the on-site shop sold beer cheaper than the supermarkets in Settle. Just at the back of the site is the river where swimming and jumping off the nearby rocks is safe when the weather is good.
There is great walking in the area- Pen Y Ghent is not far away as well as the Ribbleshead Viaduct. Last but not least the prices are very reasonable. The lovely town of Settle is only 10 minutes drive away with ample pubs, cafes and shops as well as the Settle to Carlisle railway station.

Visited July 2007 but this was the latest of many stays and shame on me for not submitting a review earlier.
Location is great with some lovely views up onto the hills. Facilities are plentiful and always clean and tidy. Small play area for the kids is nice, as well as the games/TV room for when it's raining.
Shop is small but well stocked with the types of things you need on a camping holiday.
No pub/club on site which for us is what we wanted as it stays fairly quiet and you can make your own entertainment.
Overall a great site and one that we'll keep returning to.

Having visited Stainforth itself many times over the years I decided after doing a site search on here to try Knight Stainforth as a base for walking in the local area. I will without a shadow of doubt be back to this site as it really is a great place. The facilities are top notch - I have never seen such a clean and orderly washing / toilet block Great food at the local Craven Heifer a short walk over the bridge into Stainforth itself Awoke very early on a Sunday morning and had breakfast down by Stainforth Force but when we returned later there was all manner of dinghies, fishermen and swimmers enjoying the fun All this great entertainment plus the world's greatest fish & chips in Settle just a short drive away - time to get the tent out again

Our second visit this year to the site and we'll be back next year too. Fantastic location for touring Yorkshire. Site was busy but still very clean, plenty of hot water in the toilet block and quite at night. Settle is well worth a visit with plenty to do from the site on foot or push bike. I can recommend, the butcher in Ingleton, The Naked Man Cafe in Settle as well as the butcher over the road. There are two good walks in Ingleton and Malham. Site great, staff great, very hard to find a bad point !

Excellent site, very spacious pitch sizes, in a stunning location. We stayed for 5 days, there was plenty of space for the kids to play around without getting into too much bother. We enjoyed a number of walks and explored the glorious countryside by the river with the dog. Friendly reception staff, who helped to find somewhere nice to take the in-laws for a meal when they visited. Would highly recommend and will be returning

We came here in awful weather to walk the Three Peaks. Great walking and scenery all round. This site is probably the best I have ever been too. The showers and toilets were immaculate. The overall set-up is excellent. While we were there the games room area was not open so I can't comment on that. One small observation was that the play area was constantly over run with 14+ year old children who effectively made it a no-go area for the under 12's it was intended for. The real bonus here is that you can walk to the local pub easily and the food was pretty good too.
