Just come back from a 3 night stay at Christchurch and we had a brilliant time. We stayed Saturday to Tuesday and were very impressed. We paid for electric hook-up and on the first night we had caravan's around us. Often this means it's quite noisy, but the 6m rule meant we had plenty of room and weren't disturbed. And as it's off-season there was hardly anyone around from midday Sunday which meant it was very quiet indeed.
Only two of the three toilet blocks were open, the one closest to us was closed but it was no distance to the next nearest one. There were more than adequate toilet and shower facilities, which were well maintained and very clean.
The shop has everything you need and is open 9 - 5 every day which is very handy. Reception has lots of information on local walks and attractions. We went on a lovely long walk from the campsite down to river through the woods via Yat Rock.
We'll definitely be recommending this site to family and friends and hoping to return later in the year.

Just came back from Christchurch after having spent 8 days there. Weather wasn't too bad, had a few days of rain, some of the tent area got rather wet and some people did pack-up and leave. Site was really nice, the wardens were really pleasant. The on site shop was really good, had all the basic requirements plus hot bread in the mornings. Coleford was the nearest town which had a lovely Butchers and greengrocers. Only downfall to the site was that the toilet areas needed to be cleaned more than once at the weekends as they do tend to get a bit untidy. We are defiantly going back their next year.

Well just returned from this fantastic camp site over August Bank Holiday weekend. There was ten of us in total, 4 adults 6 children ranging from 4 to 15 yrs old. I booked this site from reading reviews below and we were not disappointed. The hottest weekend of the year also made this a brill time to camp. A well organised company Forest holidays booked via telephone one month previous. Booking in went smoothly remember £10.00 deposit for your key to get in and out of the camp site which is given back if you depart on time on day of departure. Although for an extra £3.00 you can extend your booking out time till 5.30pm instead of 12 noon which we did. The children loved it plenty of room for them to ride their bikes the play area was well used by all of them. The rangers came round at approx 11pm to tell everyone to quieten down which was a good thing we felt. Well stocked shop everything we needed, fresh bread, bacon, sausage, eggs, milk etc, etc also camping equipment section too. Toilet blocks were fine cleaned once daily although over the weekend could have done with twice daily as very busy. Washing up facilities good plenty of sinks. Views around the site were lovely plenty of walks, bike rides etc to do. Symonds Yat well worth a visit. Town close by Coleford, chinese, pizza, tesco express. Will be returning to this site.

This is a lovely site with views of the valley and forests. A partly sloping site but with plenty of space to find a fairly level spot. There are two large toilet blocks with facilities for dish washing. The reception/shop stocks good basic items but is a fair way along a track from the campsite so you will need to drive. Entry to the site is through a key card system so only campers can gain access. There are plenty of walks and cycle trails from the site and an activity centre and rope climb near by. There is also a dog walk and BBQ area. There is so much to see and do in this area we will certainly be returning.

Arrived here on Saturday before that dreadful bank holiday Sunday rain! Site was heaving so just a case of finding a spot. Three toilet blocks - they were fine. Shop full of stuff which is great. Went for a walk round Woodlands at night - that site is all in secluded wooded bays. This one is the open field type so plenty of place for kids to play on bikes. They didn't seem to be enforcing the 6m between unit rule. Lots of owls hooting at night.

Nice site, plenty of room even though it was quite a busy weekend near the end of high season. Toilets/showers good and clean considering the amount of people, showers were hot, only gripe would be lack of shower curtains, meaning draping towel over clothes on the back of the door to avoid soaking! Very good shop with all the basics and more, helpful staff even though they were pretty rushed when we arrived! Remember to have £10 note handy for key deposit, I think this on the Forestry Commission website now, but wasn't at the time and we were caught out, had to leave a credit card with them. Wasn't mentioned when I booked over the phone either. Play area for children near the bottom of the site, so try to pitch further away from that area if you want peace and quiet. That said, noise was no problem, but be aware that it is a large site and obviously popular with families. Lovely area of the country, good walking, plenty to do around the Forest of Dean and Wales within easy striking distance.

Have just returned from our first experience of camping and what a fab first time it was! I only booked day before and as I had paid over the phone the check in took about 30 seconds max! All the staff that we met during our stay couldn't have been more helpful - nothing was too much bother. We had already checked the site out, so we roughly knew where would be a good place to pitch up and because it's still early in the year, we had plenty of space at the top part of the site, looking down towards the play park. (Although for all the space there was in the rest of the site, we still had someone come along on the sat & pitch right next to us!) Our 5 yr old son thought the whole experience was fantastic, made friends within minutes of arriving and we felt the site safe enough for him to go down to the park on his own, with his new friends. There was only one toilet block open as low season (which was expained to us on arrival) but we had no problems with either the gents or ladies. Both were clean and tidy with plenty of hot water for showers. There were plenty of brochures in the reception of local attractions & a helpful book on 'Where to Eat Out'! The scenery around the site is breathtaking - Symonds Yat should be visited, it is a beatiful place to have a walk around and Monmouth had a lovely (little) Farmer's Market on Saturday, well worth a visit for local foods. All in all a fantastic site and were are already booking uo for a weeks stay in June!

Great site, in a lovely woodland setting. The showers were very good, clean and free. Toilets were ok, fairly clean, but hey it was Aug so lots of people using them! The best well stocked shop we've come across, even catered for us vegans! And was reasonably priced too. Hot croissants and Pain au chocolat in the morning! Has a ropes course activity a stones throw from site.
We did go on a lovely walk down to the River Wye, but wear stout walking shoes, it's a bit steep in places, but our 3 yr old managed it well. Once we got to the river it's flat and you will finally arrive at a lovely pub (can't remember the name!).
Overall a great site, and would be fantastic to go to out of season. We would give this site 10/10

Great site surrounded by forest with plenty of clean toilets, showers and sinks for washing up. However, there seemed to be a problem with the men's showers as my boyfriend's shower was cold and was just a trickle. Popular site too, we had a nice spot on the edge of the site, next to a picnic table, which we used. We were disappointed when a large group arrived and pitched right next to us when the space between tents is supposed to be 6 feet apart. Lovely walks nearby and nice towns too - Monmouth well worth a visit.

A great site for a weekend away. Plenty of walks and trails for everyone of all ages. Pitches were a bit on the cramped side & very regimented all in lines! The play area was very good but the shower & toilet block seemed to attract loads of kids with bikes hanging around it, which should have policed by the wardens. The showers & toilets were in need of a good clean & it was disappointing to experience such poor standards in this day & age.
