This will be our third visit in a year - new toilet block half built and should be ready for next season. Very friendly site in a lovely location with a stream running through it. Not commercial. Situated close to 'HEARTBEAT' country - Goathland & N Yorks Railway and within easy reach of Whitby and Scarborough as well as the wonderful moorland villages and landscapes. Three local pubs/inns all within staggering distance. Dog owners will also like the 'Dog Walk' provided by the site. Visitors around third weekend in May will also be lucky enough to see the 'Northern Minis Coastal Adventure' annual classic mini event participants who are always made welcome at Rosedale and are guaranteed to add a 'bit of colour' to your stay.

We stayed for 3 nights before the Aug bank holiday. We had a warm welcome and chose our own pitch which was very nice. The site is well organised not too cramped and has great facilities including kids playpark which caters for all ages. Having read some of the other reviews we didn't experience the problems other people seem to have had with the toilet block for example, as we found all the facilities tidy and regularly being cleaned. The showers were 20p a go and clean, there is a laundry room/utility room with a good commercial washing machine and tumble dryer in it. We had some very heavy rain whilst we were there but it didn't dampen spirits as the views are beautiful whatever the weather. The small village has a general stores and bakery which supplies most basic needs. There is obvious onging investment in the site and we will definitely be returning next year and we would have stayed for longer had they not been booked up.

August 2005 Great site, shower and toilet facilities basic, but clean and with no cold suprises! The site is pretty big and can get busy in the summer, but they take pitch allocation seriously, and you don't feel like you're hemmed in too much. (I was camping - dunno about caravans)
Staff helpful, and Rosedale itself is exquisite. Try the Rosedale circuit walk (leaflet available from the shop for 20p)
Two good pubs nearby (and one that I didn't get a chance to try) and the Abbey general stores & tea rooms do everything you could want, and a mean bacon butty for breakfast!

August 2005 A small site which is ideal for walkers or for a base for touring. When we were there it poured down and there was nothing to do except sit in the tent, which with a 13year old girl wasn't the best! The childrens playarea was still under construction with workmen in and out of the site. As for the toilet block, it was very dirty, some toilets were blocked, lots of cobwebs, ceiling panels broke or missing, lights that didn't work, a hairdryer that didn't work, and I didn't even venture into the shower area! It needed a major overhaul. All in all, I wasn't that impressed with Rosedale, even tho it came highly recommended by friends.

June 2005 A beautifully situated campsite in the valley - just beside the ruins of Rosedale Abbey (only one staircase remaining)! Toilet/shower block were a bit old and tired - but there was a notice saying thay've had planning permission for new ones to be built, but don't know when. 20p required for the hot water but I think alot of people must have put 20p in the meter as every time we went either for a shower or to wash the dishes (bar one), the water was hot enough and we didn't need to put any money in! The welcome was warm and friendly. I'd definitely go back again; especially once the new loos have been built!

May 2005 This is a lovely situated site in the middle of the Dales. 10 miles from Pickering, up and down small country lanes, roads a bit scary for 1st time caravan pullers, as I found out!in the middle of a valley, with a stream and lots of sheep around you. My only complaint was the toilet block, it was dirty and needed a good clean, there were cobwebs all over. The showers and washing up was 20p, but out of 6 nights, the showers were cold at 8am for 3 mornings. You don't find out until after you've put your money in! but they did say they'd refund 20p, not the point.

September 2004 WE took 2 tents and 2 cars, there were 4 of us plus a dog and it cost us £18 for one night.
The site was nice and quiet apart from one lot of people who insisted on playing their car stereo rather loudly.
Rosedale its self was lovely especially the little tea room on the green where we had afternoon teas (£5 for tea, sarnie and scone)
We ate at the pub closest to the campsite (the one with the games room) as it let us take the dog in. food was lovely...one of the best steak pies ive ever had. only downside was the kids larking around throwing pool q's around and generally misbehaving.....oh and a poor selection of real ales ;o)
The area around Rosedale is lovely and we did a couple of great walks accross the moors. The village shop selling hot pies etc was lovely. Definitely worth the visit

August 2004 I have been visiting this site on and off for the last 20 years! This was my first visit for 5 years and since it was taken over by Flower of May. I was glad to see that it has remained a quiet friendly site which is in no way "commercial". It caters for all types, from hikers through to touring vans. Scenery is great, village of Rosedale is small with only a couple of shops, but there are 3 pubs which all serve good food and are family friendly upto approx 21.30 hours. This site is ideally placed for touring the Moors. Give it a try. Recommended.

2nd August 2004 Lovely quaint place, nice and clean shower & toilets. Only thing is 3 pubs had no outside facilities like slide, swings etc for children and the pub with the games room kids had to be out by 9.30 bit miffed as obviously on holiday you want to stay out bit later. Put our tent up right by stream, should have gone over other side as were kept awake all night by the gushing stream so do take ear plugs if you are going to pitch right by stream.

June 2004 This is a very good site and well maintained, if you have stayed here in the last 4 years I guess you will have used the showers, the good news is they are now fixed.
Near the site there are three Pubs which all serve food, all of which are very good.
There are a couple of shops in the Village, the bakery is open 7 days a week and sells hot sandwiches and cakes. There is also a little cafe.
I think this site is well worth a visit.
