Just home from a two night bank holiday stay here. Was an absolutely lovely site, situated on the river bank, lovely open spaces for different units.

There was a lovely big play park for the children and the toilet and showering blocks were excellent. Warm and clean and well maintained. The site was well looked after and always someone on hand. Electric is pay as you go but very good value and we had a heater on all the time except the last day due to the weather being poor.

Good selection of shops for odd bits of groceries and for a small village a good selection of pubs! We went for tea at the white horse part way up chimney bank, very friendly and allowed dogs too.

The only criticism I would have is the dog walk is difficult terrain and up a steep hill which got slippy after the rain and was steep for my two year old daughter. A larger area for customers dogs would be ideal we just ended up walking to the reception/shop and back on the lead to exercise the dog when on site.

We had a lovely time and will be back

Stayed here over a Bank Holiday weekend at the start of May. Normally hardy campers, this was a first experience of a pod. Apparently the temperature had dropped to -4 the night before arrival, and it remained cold throughout our stay but the pod was surprisingly cosy.

We bbq’d most nights and the pod had a lovely decked balcony area with picnic table overlooking the brook to sit out on.

Loo/shower facilities were clean, warm and with lots of hot water! There is also a freezer on site (free) for freezing ice blocks. The site also feels very secure as there is a security barrier on entry.

We were fortunate to coincide our visit with the Tour of Britain cycle tour which actually came through Rosedale Abbey so on the Friday there was a great atmosphere with the streets packed. Village store, teashop and two pubs in the village. We tried out both pubs for a beer (both fronted by slightly miserable Yorkshiremen), but preferred the White Horse Farm Inn which had great food and fantastic views.

Great walking and cycling routes in the area across the Moors – fanastic (but hairy) freewheel downhill down Rosedale Chimney! Good location for exploring the North York Moors, Pickering and Dalby Forest plus not too far from Scarborough and the coast.

Love, love this Site, I have two children aged 11 and 9 and this is their favourite campsite, we go every year.

Rosedale is so pretty, the views are stunning. There is a great play area for the kids it also has two goalposts so the children all play together and play football. My kids love the stream that runs around the site, it's only shallow so the kids love it, the kids can play all day long, and not once have I heard the saying 'I'm bored.' It's a great place. There is no phone signal and very limited Wifi, but to me this is a good thing, I go camping to get away from it all.

There are two pubs in the village. We like the Milburn Arms, the food is outstanding and it's child and dog friendly. There is a great pub up the hill too, you can do a nice walk to it.

In Rosedale itself there are two tea rooms, There is a very small shop in the campsite. We go into Pickering and use the Lidl and Coop.

Surrounding area is beautiful, you are not far from Goathland, the home of Heartbeat. Whitby isn't very far which is a lovely seaside town. Dalby Forest is a great day out for mountain biking, walking, great play area, go ape and paint balling. If you don't fancy such an active day, a short drive will take you to castle Howard, and even the lovely city of York. North Yorkshire is my favourite place in the world and never tire of the place.

To me Rosedale is simply lovely with breathtaking scenery. Well worth the visit. The campsite is great. You can pitch where you like, the toilets are only a short walk away, it is Pay as you go electric, we stayed four nights and used two pounds worth, so it isn't an issue. You do need to take £10 for the barrier and toilet pass but this is given back on departure, everyone is friendly well worth a stay.

The booking procedure for the site was very good - although there was a question mark as whether a camper van with driveaway awning had to pay more than a tent with a car and electric hook up. But we didn't :-). Post confirmation was received within a day or so. Hence 2 out of 10

The site is well organised, and efficient if not the most friendly/warm welcome. The shop is adequate as are the facilities. Quite expensive as sites go - if the customer service/staffing improved it would be worth paying the extra as the village is gorgeous: the little village shop/cafe friendly and lovely; The White Horse a short walk up the hill - but worth it - is really friendly and sells a good range of real ales and great food;. If you fancy splashing out on handblown glass or watch it being made in the village is the famous glass blowers - Gillies Jones; Loads of great walks in the area for all abilities; National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby; Cropton Forest Brewery for a brewery tour; and North Yorks railway to the coast makes a great day out. Pickering a market town with all the food outlets from small independents, market and supermarket.

There is a lot on the reviews about electric charges - we were sold 2 cards for the two days stay. The person who took us to the pitch inserted one of the cards but the person before us had left 1 pound credit and we only used 40 pence. The next person would therefore have 1. 60 credit and you don't get a refund on unused cards - so its worth checking; its not expensive, although in our view, an unnecessary add on given the cost of the pitch.

This site was booked after a sudden ability to get away over the bank holiday weekend in late May. After much searching (I am fussy), Rosedale Park was booked for 4 nights. It appeared to be quite a large site from the information on the internet but when we arrived it was nicely spread out and we were given a beautiful pitch next to the river. The pitch wasn't huge although we have a fair size tent.

This is the first site I have ever been on that you pay for the electric using cards and not a fixed fee per night. I was sceptical especially as we have an electric cool box, heater, hairdryer, kettle etc etc. I thought, oh no, we will be paying for the national grid. But surprise surprise, after 4 nights we used £4 ! That is £4 total - amazing

The facilities were warm, clean and plentiful and never had to queue.

The site is in the village of Rosedale Abbey with a couple of pubs and coffee shops. It was a delightful place and had umpteen walks around it.

I will be returning, I loved it - if in doubt - go !

Just thought that the site deserved a review following our visit with touring caravan and dog!

Firstly a very prompt reply to the online booking facility - coupled with the fact that I received an email reply with my booking reference after paying deposit as I didn't have a pen to write it down - simple things impress.

Arrived on the Friday afternoon and expected the site to be much busier than it was - especially on the tent field as we have recently upgraded to a caravan. Despite a week of sunshine and good weather the site was quiet on the tent side - holiday cottages, pods and tourers were booked up

Site was immaculately presented as it always has been - we were shown to a choice of hard standing pitches and quickly managed to reverse into one without a problem. Our only regret was that we could have picked one a little closer to the 'facilities' as we do like to have a good hot shower - which didn't disappoint - the toilets are very clean and tidy - there is a mop and bucket to clear up after yourself to keep things tidy and presentable.

We had a good stay here - plenty of dog walking and being amused by the ducks and rabbits - when we could get the dog out of the river that's running though the site.

The grass was cut short, excellent play area for children and a dedicated dog walk.

There are three pubs in Rosedale (hic!) one is at the site entry, one is in the village centre - Milburn Arms and my personal favourite - the White Horse on Chimney Bank. You really do have to go here and sample the real ales and the food and view. Its also dog friendly as is the Milburn Arms. Unfortunately the Coach House isnt.

Mobile phones - don't expect any sort of mobile signal here unless you have a satellite phone - there isnt any - no facebook, twitter, email, text - perfect!

And a special note to the camp wardens who when I lost the pin from my motor mover key were only too happy to help out by letting me in the workshop to see what could be fabricated from their materials - a big thank you again - really appreciated - and we will be back for another stay soon!

This is my second visit to Rosedale in 2 weeks. This time we decided to stay in a pod. You can park right in front of the pod making it easy to unload the car. The pods are carpeted, have two spotlights, two sockets and a heater. Otherwise, they're like posh insulated sheds! There were three of us and we had plenty of room. They are supposed to be for five, but I think they would be a bit snug! There is a decked area outside, but it is only partly covered, so there is very limited space to cook if it's raining. There is a picnic table and benches for each pod - great when the weather is fine. The shop is very basic, but is open until fairly late.

The park is great for the kids and there is a 5mph speed limit, so they can ride safely on their bikes and scooters around the campsite. The toilets and showers are some of the best I have come across. They are cleaned regularly, and despite the torrential rain we had one day, they were never dirty. It's nice to have hot water for washing up, too! There is also a washing machine, dryer and freezer. The site is impeccably maintained and the site staff are very friendly and helpful.

I will definitely be back. I would say, however, that £40 a night for a pod is a bit excessive. You also get a card which allows you into the campsite and into the toilets and showers. You pay a deposit of £10 cash per card, although I do understand why they have to do this.

Just back from this peaceful site and had lovely weekend except from the midge bites I received. So beware, there are a lot flying around, due to the stream running throughout the site. Stunning location here, in a valley, in lovely small village in heart of the moors, but miles from anywhere.

Well kept site, and love how you can pitch anywhere with all the space you want. Good, large children's play area, also rope swings the children play on in various areas of the stream. The site is divided into sections, Huge tent area first, with play area, and few hard standing pitches for caravans, then further on, holiday homes and statics, followed by some pods, then a second tent field.

2 toilet blocks, which were fine, not the best I've used but definitely the warmest.

Only 2 sink units in the pot wash area.

Shop was adequate, sold the basics.

I would like to return but probably wont, because of the midges.

Large site. Seems like it goes on for ever, so expect a long walk to the shower block wherever you get shoe horned into. We ended up with a load of stored caravans!. Average shower block, no other facilities to speak of apart from children's play area.

The hotel bar close by is by far the more pleasant of the pub options, and you don't have a 1 in 3 hike to get there! Really nice modern menu, I'd recommend the corn beef hash with duck egg. Mmm!

All in all an average site, that no way in a gazillion years is worth £27 per night. Yes £27 per night and that didn't include hook up!. Outrageous, will not be returning!

Positive- Beautiful scenery, lovely quiet site, playground great, toilet block fine, shop adequate.

Not so positive- Staff could be more friendly and helpful. Pitch was at top of a steep bank, which therefore meant getting caravan in and out not easy.

Used nearly £5 electric in the first day, (we did have the heating on sometimes during the night) informed mgmt and was told they would speak to us the next day as they agreed this was too much-unfortunately they did not follow this up.

Electric prepaid cards non refundable-so don't buy too much.

No information regarding local area or facilities offered or given when asked.

We would return if the electric was not an extra cost but site fees already fairly steep without added expense.
