Our second visit to this site and we were so glad we returned. The pitches are generous in size and very well maintained. We stayed for 3 nights over the end of May Bank Holiday and although the site was full you didn't feel like they'd packed everyone in.

Given the bad weather (probably the worst we've encountered) the toilets and showers were always clean and warm!
One slight quibble - the electronic entry pad was not working.

The location is beautiful and such a fantastic area to explore for adults and kids alike. Would highly recommend a meal in the local pub "The Coach House" - it was excellent. The small local shop has the basic essentials.

Will highly recommend it and can't wait to go again !

Great campsite - we've been visiting for over 15 years now.  Relatively flat pitching space, good showers/toilets (brand new last year and free) and children's play area.

The site is in the heart of Rosedale village, so the amenities make up for no campsite shop.  There are 3 pubs, 2 tea shops, a bakers (which does take outs during the summer) and general store.

The site does get very busy during summer holidays and noisy.  Outside the holiday period it's really tranquil and you have the luxury of a nice big pitch.

There's a pitch and putt at Rosedale, plus there are stacks of walks from various points around the village.  Plus Rosedale makes an excellent base for exploring the Moors - North Yorks Moors Railway, Castle Howard, York, Scarborough all within reach.

Very nice site, barrier, toilets accessed by 'swipe' card. Tent pitches are sloping especially those next to river unless you go over by the little footbridge in the corner - A public footpath does run through this site. Flattest pitches are electric/tents or by the children's playground could be noisy.

Camping May Bank holiday without electric hook up was very cold at night - water out of the taps was hot enough to fill a hot water bottle. Stock up at supermarket no local shop. Local pubs bar meals looked ok.

If you are towing a caravan - do not use Sat Nav / post code to access the site. You will be brought down a 3 in 1 twisting hill (Chimney Bank) best set it for Pickering and then re set to avoid this.

Just returned from 3 night Easter break, well impressed with site.

While I'm sure weather helped (best Easter weather I can remember), site was grassy, nowhere near overloaded, pre-booked pitch was flat with EHU in easy reach. EHU places for tents are limited though.

Tents without electricity are free to pitch on the ample fieldspace (by the river was a favourite) with regard to proximity to their neighbours and with the agreement of the guide.

The booking office also serves as a shop, stacking a limited range of camping necessities, but no food or drink due to its small size). Found a Co-op at Castleton though, well-stocked and open 7/7 until 22.00, which is 10-15 mins drive each way.

A small river runs past the bottom of the site, and a good spacious playground for all ages at the top.

Had some concerns at first over size of modern toilet/shower block (4 toilets & 5 showers in Gents), but these were unfounded and I never needed to queue. The block was always spotless and cleaned regularly. Entry is by the same security card (£10 deposit) that gets you through site barrier, only one per party (although I'm sure they'd provide more if asked).

Washing-up facilities were busy though, with only two sinks.

A favourite gripe of mine is showers that are coin-operated and pre-set temperatures - so I am pleased to say that Rosedale's are free (or in with the price), tap-operated, last as long as needed and are temperature-controllable. Volume of water was mentioned from time-to-time by fellow campers, but always plenty for me.

Could have done with lights over mirrors, more than one hand-dryer (new but asthmatic) and hooks for stuff, but this is nit-picking)

Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, on checking in you're shown where on the site you will be on an aerial photo, then taken there by a guide who explains where everything is. Thoughtfully, small concrete slabs are provided for those with disposable BBQs.

One idiosyncrasy is a strict ban on gazebos. I suppose they can be used selfishly by some, but it does mean that the largest tents with interiors the size of Westminster Abbey are OK, but a 2 man tent with a gazebo isn't. Awnings though are fine. We use a cheap tarp clipped to the tent, so weren't affected, but it could be a point of contention for some.

3 pubs in the village (which is at the very front entrance of the site), our favourite was the Milburn Arms, traditional-style country pub which does excellent real ale and equally excellent and well-priced bar meals, with a good sized beer garden to the front. Regulars were very welcoming & friendly towards us "incomers", (not always the case on some places). There is a comfortable family room (not needed by us), and although there is a sign forbidding dogs, our fully-grown Irish Wolfhound (our friends' actually) was welcomed.

Picturesque village also boasts a very nice tea-room - sup your cuppa inside or out.

As for the area, for me you can't beat the N Yorks Moors for landscape walking or the local hostelries. Brilliant!

Will definitely return, and recommend the site highly.

Now very well maintained - toilets complete. Excellent varied walks straight out of the site - village has 2 pubs and 2 shops and 2 tearooms. Don't bring ALL your own grub - visit the local bakery, it's excellent. Black sheep beer in pubs - suggest eating at the 3rd pub, 300m up chimney bank.
Site staff friendly. Facilities good. New toilet blocks need towel hooks and lights above shaver points to complete.

Spent 4 nights here (arriving Wednesday, leaving Sunday) after the kids were back at school.
Glad to report they now have a brand new toilet & shower block. Ample FREE hot showers though pressure seems a little low at busy times. There are 2 sinks for your washing up. Also has separate disabled/baby change toilet facility and chemical disposal.
Entry/exit by vehicle is via a card operated security barrier. This key card also gives you access to the showers. Children have a generous play area, and the people running the campsite said they had all new equipment ready to be installed but had been too busy over the summer period to install it.
There's a lovely stream running through part of the campsite, and we decided to pitch close by it (We were able to choose our pitch ourselves as it was midweek and after the summer hols.
Having said that, it did become busier over the weekend with more campers arriving Friday night.

Generally its a tranquil site with good level pitches, electric hook up available though you'd be advised to book if you wanted an electric pitch.
The village of Rosedale has 3 pubs, a couple of shops and tea rooms.

All in, we had a brilliant time in Rosedale and will be going back again soon.

Visited the site for the Bank holiday weekend. We were greeted at reception by very friendly people who told us all about the site.We were four couples a five year old and two dogs we were advised to go to the farthest field because it would be safe for the child playing in the river as the bank is not steep like it is in the rest of the site.
The toilet block was brand new and immaculate always clean and lots of free hot water. Very good washing up fascilities and rubbish bins emptied several times each day. The owners did not let the site get to busy and we had plenty of space for ball games etc.We were only ten minutes walk from the village and the walks from the site were superb.
The dog walk areas takes you up a hill to a beautiful vantage point from where you can view most of the surrounding area. This is a quiet site in a truly beautiful part of the country. The village has all you need for a holiday small store that does home made bread on a morning great ice cream all day and even take away pizzas on an evening.
Three pubs all doing food and a couple of tea shops for afternoon tea. This site is a real gem and we will be back soon highly recommended.

The site itself is very pretty, with a stream running along one side of the tent pitches. The toilet facilities are OK, but the floor in the ladies seemed to be wet and muddy for the whole of the weekend we were there. The showers are not too good though, the water comes out in such a trickle that you have to gather water in your cupped hands to rinse the soap off yourself!
It cost us £51 for three nights (one tent, 2 adults, 2 dogs) which I though was very expensive for the level of facilities provided.

We have been visiting this site annually for a few years. The reason is the location which is superb, great views of the surrounding moors yet in the village so the facilities there such as the bakers and tea shop are useful.

The site has degenerated a bit in recent years, it is part of a Scarborough based group now and we will see what effect that has. The toilet block is looking a bit tired but a new one is being built. On the weekend we visited the site was full and felt it, tents were pitched very close to each other and there was a fair bit of noise.

However, the views and the local walks make up for a lot and mean we will be back.

A lovely location, for that alone the site is outstanding. But desperately in need of improvements, which to be fair are major and ongoing at present, consequently existing toilet blocks are a bit grotty and tatty to say the least, but pitches for MHs are good and level and fairly well drained and site staff are pleasant and helpful.

Local pubs are good but do not accept dogs, and the White Horse is currently very grotty and up for sale this month. Good idea to check with site to ascertain when refurbishment works will be complete.
