Just returned from Rosedale for our first camping trip of the year and what a start!
This campsite is an absolute gem and this was our 4th stay there. When we arrived we were allowed to choose our pitch, which was a very generous size with plenty more room for the kids to play.
The staff are so lovely and couldn't do enough for us.
It's in a beautiful location with nice walks, good pubs and it's set in a beautiful village, not too far from the seaside. There's a big playground, though our 3 kids never ventured far from the stream, complete with rope swings, that runs through the site.
The toilets and showers are plentiful and are always spotless.
We will definitely returning. Again and again.

Just had a great weekend in Rosedale, this being our third time.Lovely village and so quiet and some lovely local walks as well as two friendly pubs. Only half an hour drive to Whitby and numerous lovely villages on the way. Got a good pitch for our tent but we were disappointed to note that we now had to pay extra for the electricity. This was not the case last year. We thought this was included in the price when booking a hook up? Shower facilities ok if you got there at 7.00 a.M or earlier like I did however my daughter who got there 7.30-8.00 a.M. Reported that there was only a trickle of water coming through the showers, this happened on all three mornings. Toilet rolls could do with replacing on a more regular basis.
Would definitely go again and it is an ideal spot for people with young children as there is a good sized play park and they all enjoyed splashing about in the stream due to the wonderful weather we had.

Visited this site over the Easter bank holiday. What a gem of a site. We were pitched at the far end of the site on Mill Dam just by the river, we have never been to such a site as quiet and peaceful especially on a bank holiday weekend!
Would recommend the far camping field to tent users as was told it was quite noisy in the first camping field and also found the toilet block at our end better.
Electricity is not included in the price you buy a card from reception £1,£5 or £10 we used £5 over 4 days, not a bad idea just makes you more aware of what you use.
Rosedale has 2 lovely pubs both serve food, the food in the Coach house was lovely didn't try the food in the White horse but it certainly looked very nice and the views are stunning. 2 tea rooms, one with deli (very nice) and the other sells milk, bread etc and loads of different walks.
The owners are very helpful and the area is beautiful. Just one thing worth a mention, no signal for mobile or television, which made for a really peaceful break for us!

What a fantastic site this is. The area is beautiful and the facilities really well maintained.
The wardens are just so friendly and are so helpful, and actually enjoy meeting new campers.
Has two pubs that are within walking distance, both nice but cant comment on the food. Would definitely return here without hesitation.
Only downside if any was the noisy owls!

I believe this to be one of the best sites in the country. It is clean and well looked after. The staff are friendly and the location is stunning.
I visit this site quite often as there are many fantastic walks around Rosedale. The only downside is that with it being so popular you don't always get total peace and quite but you can't have everything.

Have just come back from a weeks stay in Rosedale and found the site very welcoming and accommodating. We took our dog with us who found the river and surrounding country side very welcoming.
The pub just across the road was not dog friendly but the White Hotse Farm Inn up the hill had just opened up and was very welcoming as was the locals. So much so that we joined in one of the locals 60th birthday celebrations.
The showers and toilets were to a high standard and even though the security barrier was not working it wasn't a problem. All in all a good holiday was had and we definitely go back again in the future.

This was our second visit to Rosedale, and is a very popular site with our 2 children. They love playing in the shallow part of the river on the main camping field, where it's pebbly underfoot (fine with Crocs on) and you can build a dam and splash about.
There are rope swings for older children, and loads of ducks who (if you are pitched right by that part of the river as we were) will come right up to your tent looking for treats!
There is a large spacious play area with a climbing frame /slide for younger children as well as a hard-core very high slide & climing frame for older children. There's plenty of space here to play cricket or kick a ball around.
The showers I can only describe as dismal! As we were there for 3 nights I only showered once and didn't bother trying to shower the children as the water was much too hot. The water pressure is terrible too. I did speak to a member of staff one morning and they are well aware of the problem but it is to do with water pressure at the mains and is seemingly out of their hands. But, top tip, apparently the shower block at the other end of the site (where te non electric pitches are) is on a different mains and the water pressure there is much better. I didn't find this out until our last day but I will definitely try that shower block next time!
There's a great pub opposite the site which has a games room where you can dine with children. There are also 2 lovely tea rooms / cafes which are not to be missed. It's a 30 min drive over the moors to Sandsend and the coast.
The on site shop will sort you out if you've forgotten your fairy liquid, but for anything more that that use the village shop. There's a fairly large Co-Op (bigger than it looks) in Kirbymoorside which we used.
Overall, a great location, the kids love it, but it gets very busy at peak times in the EHU area. I'm sure we'll be back!

We stayed in the top field for 3 nights in August 2010. Which is quite a walk from the site entrance. The utility block was spotless pretty much all weekend, and looks like it's been done up this year.
The site is in a beautiful location, with plenty to do around the area. The kids were kept fully occupied by the shallow stream at one side of the field and wooded slope at the other.
If you are a mixed party (tents + caravans) then I think you can pitch up together on the bottom field, but this was full when we booked, so the site owners did their best to put the caravans as near as possible to our field.
As others have, I would recommend the pub, and agree you need to book on busy weekends if you want to eat.

I was in a tourer with family and other members in tent
The site is clean and tidy . Toilets near park are well used as kids in and out all day .
Some of the caravan pitches are on a slope most are flat all stated grass you will need hard standing pegs as all hard standing now. Can get noisy in the park area
No tv signal at all or even a mobile for at least 4 miles from site ( I have tried all ways) you will need sat system
A tenner deposit for the gate. For waste water you need to be able to lift it up and tip down a normal toilet.
The pub over the road did not allow children in there after 9.30 and was expensive, we stayed at the caravan and tent had our own drink hope this helps you.

Have visited this campsite on several occasions this visit being our sixth
This site is best campsite we have visited by far
Fantastic couldn't recommend it enough
Kids loved it plenty of areas to play
There is a stream running along side with rope swings that keep them entertained for hours
Shower block lovely and clean staff are always very friendly and helpful
Pub at the campsite entrance which serves fabulous food
The campsite is in a valley so can not get a mobile phone signal which in my option is fab just to get away from it all for a few days
There is a public phone box on the site though to use
Brilliant campsite
