What a amazing site, we spent three nights here in August this year and this is our third visit to this site. Lovely views from the campsite. , in a very pretty village. There is three pubs in the village and over the times we have used this site we have used them. The village shop is fully stocked and with a little cafe too. There is plenty of lovely walks around the village and a very pretty Abbey in the village which we love visiting a friend of the family resting place.
The facilities are amazing hot water all the time and the toilets are always clean and the heat hits you when you go in they are kept so warm. There is a lovely play area in which our two children loved playing on and it was in good view of our tent so we could relax too. Staff are great very friendly, we had a problem with our Gas bottle and a member of staff tried to help us out to get it started.
All in all a great family site and we will return again and again.

Wow what a week, we hired a pod at rosedale and it was worth every penny. No tent to sent up. Just unpack and enjoy. Really enjoyed the days at rosedale. Staff where really helpful & site kept so clean & tidy. Had a rotten start to our holiday with the car breaking down but when we arrived at rosedale a warm welcome awaited us.
My son love playing in the stream & the park. No nattering, no mobile phones or internet made it an ideal location to spend fun family time. Close to lots off attractions but fun is to be had on site by all. 2 local pubs served fantastic food. Sit back, relax & enjoy.

Beautiful campsite in a fantastic setting. Returned after many years to find the site just as delightful, if not more so than before. Camped for the night in a tent right next to the charming little stream where children could paddle, play on the rope swing and fish.
Friendly and helpful staff, well-stocked shop and secure site with barrier entry and access to facilities only for those booked in (£10 deposit for key). Peaceful site, although almost full, with a lovely atmosphere. The children loved the play area, and the facilities were good too.
Beautiful village with family (and dog) friendly pub serving food at lunchtime and evenings, all-day cafe, village shop with ice-cream and a lovely little tearoom attached, all within short walking distance. If you're here longer and want to travel further afield, it's ideally situated for Dalby Forest, the coast and a myriad of other attractions a short drive away. My favourite campsite at the moment, if only for the amazing, tranquil scenery but with all the little extras, what's not to love !
One thing to be aware of though, because of it's situation there is little to no mobile phone coverage, but it's a small price to pay for such a lovely get-away and after all isn't that what camping's really all about ?

Large site in beautiful village with village shop, cafe, couple of good pubs within walking distance. Good facilities, popular with families but guess the showers etc would be struggling if site was full. Plenty for kids to do and good walking country - try the whole traverse of Rosedale! Especially good pub about 3/4 mile up steep hill towards 'Rosedale Chimneys'. One amusing note - we met up with family and friends from Harrogate - two male friends were almost turned away because 'they would be sharing a tent' - took some convincing to let them stay one night! EHU's were metered and paid with a plastic card - somewhat surprisingly proved much better value for us than the standard £2-£3 per night for 'leccy. (£2 lasted almost 3 days)

A wonderful campsite very child friendly. Beautiful setting with river running through it. I read the previous comments about the toilets and facilities, we did not encounter any problems although I could see that at really peak times one block may not be enough. They were however clean and very warm with underfloor heating. The children's play area was centrally located and very good my 6 and 4 year old were always to be found there.
We were guided to 3 possible pitches and told we could choose which was great. The first night by 10 pm the site was lovely and quiet. However by the time the second afternoon a group arrived who were hell bent on drinking beer. Despite various other campers and the owners wife speaking to them the noise continued until 3.30 am, terrifying my little girl. Whilst I appreciate there is not a lot people can do with a group who are set on a course we were all issued with an A5 sheet of paper including noise nuisance which said people would be asked to leave this obviously did not happen. The evidence was also there in the afternoon with a dinghy filled with cold water and filled with cans of beer. I think more could have been done to prevent the situation. Would I go back yes I would.

Good site with good facilities. 2 good pubs in walking distance.
As a solo camper on arrival I was quoted £20 a night, which even for high season is ridiculous. Given I knew a nearby site charging less I was about to leave when I was offered a pitch for £10.
So if you're a solo camper with a small tent don't just hand over your cash and pay the advertised base price, which usually is for 2 people, ask and negotiate. I prefer sites that offer a single person rate without the need to ask but this site was accommodating and it's a good site.
I'll return.

Have visited this site 2 years previously and felt this time the standards had slipped from before.
Its a lovely location with stunning views and beck running through the site make it great for families.
You pay £10 deposit for a fob which gives you access to the facilities block.
There are only 2 washing up sinks which are undercover but resulted in people waiting.
The toilet and shower facilities were what let the site down this time they were dimly lit and both mornings had run out of toilet paper in over 1/2 of the cubicles.
The shower having undressed then didn't work there is a sign saying water pressure may be low but didn't expect no water.
There needs to be a mop and bucket for wiping down after use or they need to be cleaned again in the evening as the ladies toilets by late evening and early morning weren't clean.
The other thing was the campsite owners were very regimented about things ie we were told to put the car in one position and then told again by another warden to park it somewhere else. Seemed as it was a nice weekend they were trying to squeeze the tents close together even though we were on an electric hook up.
Will revisit only when toilet facilities are improved.

This is one of the best campsites I've ever stayed at. I'll just give you a short summary to start with:
It's very clean and very well kept, there are excellent modern facilities, a great shop, a perfect paddling stream, a playground, and it's in a really lovely village with a very good pub and a couple of very good tea rooms.
My son and I camped here for just one night, it was a Monday and was after a load of rain, which is probably why the camping field was completely empty, although had dried enough to camp and they'd even mowed it.
The camping field is an attractive, slightly rolling field bordered by nice trees and a great stream, perfect for paddling in places (we happily obliged!). I liked it because I didn't feel like I was at a massive commercial site - you don't share it with statics and it's not flat, square and boring (but there's plenty of flat plots). There were handy drinking water stand pipes dotted round the field. There were quite a lot of midges at the time, but rather than being because of the stream (we weren't very close to it), I think it was because the ground was so wet after the rain.
That field adjoins a smaller one which has what seems like a newish facilities block and a pretty decent playground. The toilets are accessed using the electronic key-card (which you also need to open the security barrier at the main gate), this means only campers and not walkers etc can use them. The toilets/showers were very modern, very clean and a good size, but then we were the only people using them so I can't really comment on how well they measure up at busy times.
There's also a two-sink pot wash room (bit too small really), a laundry and a chemical disposal room.
The playground is definitely more than I'd expect for a campsite - especially when there's a stream! It has brand new wooden equipment suitable for most ages and some pretty awesome (ancient, but very good) climbing frames which wouldn't look out of place on an army base.
If the campsite itself wasn't good enough, then there's the village. It's perfect if you ask me - very attractive, but not too big. A typical remote Yorkshire village. It has a very nice pub (The Coach and Horses), directly opposite the site entrance, and another further up the hill which I didn't go to. The Coach and horses does very good real ale, enpough said. It's a modern/wooden/leathery affair, but very welcoming and homely. Pool table too. Children are only allowed in the games room though, but there's quite a few tables in there too.
Oh, and the shop is very good and the staff are lovely.

We have just had a very good weekend at this campsite - the only thing that wasn't good was the weather
In our party there were 5 caravans 4 camapervans and one tent so there was a lot of us
I was the organiser and had no complaints at all only praise for the campsite and staff
The toilets and showers where we were situated were spotless
The pub across from the campsite made us all very welcome and we had a wonderful meal on the saturday night
During the day many of our group went walking but I went to nearby Hutton Le hole where Ryedale Museum is, a real must visit, a really interesting place for all the family.

Paid a flying visit to this camp site while on a walking holiday. It was a really pleasant site and had a lovely relaxing atmosphere which was just what I needed after several hours of trekking through the moors!
The on-site shop was incredibly useful, selling all the camping essentials and the staff were friendly. The toilets were kept clean and tidy and there was plenty of them so there were no queues. The showers were a little disappointing, they were kept clean but the water was freezing cold! However, there was a notice stating that temperatures could fluctuate at busy times and this was a bank holiday!
Also, the play park is great if you have children.
