This was a great site, very clean overall, nice staff and security patrolling round the pitches every night. Only one disappointment the toilet blocks were very dirty only seen them being cleaned once no hand soap for 2 days. Showers were very powerful and the drainage around the cubicles couldn't cope therefore leaving a puddle in the middle of the room here we start the soggy jogging bottom dance! I did complain and was told that the cleaner was new and finding it hard to cope.

Other than that minor fault a lovely site with great bars and nice meals in the evening, breakfast is not up to much but overall good value for money.

Following a 1 week holiday within a group of 14 people, children's ages ranging from 3 -15 I found this camp had its highs and lows. Firstly we were greeted by helpful staff who had took note of our request to have all families sited next to one another. The pitches were large and had enough room for a gazebo and cars in between, however, a storm on the first night took the gazebo out of the ground and now we understand why staff told us to take it down at night but we never listened! (it took 6 of us in heavy rain in night clothes at 4am in morning to eventually get it down). Anyway, we decided to get the most out of the holiday whatever the weather as we had drove for 8 hrs through the night to get there.
We went to Looe, took a trip to Looe Island on glass bottom boat, caught a bus from inside campsite to Newquay, Flambards, great day out for the children, queued for over an hour, get there early!, Polperro, what a lovely little fishing village are to name but a few! We found the prices in the essentials shop on site reasonable and some items cheaper than the Coop in Perranporth. The curry night for £7.95 on Wednesday inc free pint was good value. Us ladies tried the cash bingo one night in the Surfrider bar which we found had no atmosphere and also it was freezing in there as they had no heating on and the doors were left wide open, we love bingo but never went back, we were disappointed. The sports bar and cabaret bar were good entertainment for the children as were the arcades which I expect everyone loves!
Our pitches were within 5 mins walk to the main bars/shops/arcades and 1 min walk to the showers/toilets/wash room/bins. We were very central to all amenities
All staff were helpful however the biggest downside of the week for me would have to be the shower/toilet block. I do not blame the campsite for this as I hold each individual responsible but on several occasions I left there heaving at some of the sights I came across.
I began to wait until the showers had been cleaned before using them, they are very powerful and very hot (children beware) i would also advise the use of flip flops in showers and they also get very wet as the drainage is rather poor in there. The showers are free but there are no plugs for hairdryers etc.
Due to the extreme weather conditions including hailstones we only had a power cut once, this lasted only a short time before the site corrected it, many tents were blown down along with many items being blown across the site. The staff at Perran Sands worked tirelessly to help all those affected by this.
Overall the site was good and the most important thing is that the children loved it, would not go back soon due to the length of time we spent travelling there and back!

Arrived back on Friday. Intention was to pitch camp, but weather on arrival was just plain silly. Wind was howling and lashing down with rain. I simply could not put the tent up. So paid a bit extra and got me a static for the week.

Staff were brilliant. Facilities good, entertainment and kids activities were fantastic. Have already booked another break for September, all gets a bit pricey in Summer, may try again with the tent.

Loved it, recommended.

Stayed here whitsun weekend for a week. The weather was awful, cant blame the site for this. We were pitched by the Blue block which was quiet, but the site had major problems with the boiler during our stay, sometimes the water was hot in the dish washing block sometimes cold, the taps in the toilets were also erratic but the showers were very powerful and hot. But visitors were advised to use the alternate blocks which were clean and you never had to queue which was good.

The pitches were ample size plenty of room for our trailer tent we were on a slight slope, but were given the choice to change if we needed to.

There was a walk to the entertainment area but it wasn't that far, The area was a lot cleaner and tidier than I remembered from a previous visit, a very good stocked shop, on site bakery, and gift shop. There was a hire shop for any forgotten items and a laundarette which was well used during our stay. A fish and chip takeaway , restaurant bar which was a little pricey and also a burger king. Further up was a indoor and outdoor pool both spotlessly clean but outside was far too cold to go into. The indoor pool was nice with a well used flume, also the site did activities during the day but all well advertised. Two amusements and a caberate bar which you needed passes to get into in the evening.

All in all I was pleasantly surprised and would go back no questions asked.

August 2007 was our 5th or 6th year at Perran Sands Haven.

2007 may have been our last one too.

Pitches have always been fine plenty of space and mostly level.

Club gets very busy, Swimming pool is not the best. Walk down to the beach is quite a trek but worth it.

Why are we not going back this year?

TOILETS. They were the worst I have ever seen on ANY site anywhere, some cubicles were out of order the rest were disgusting, blocked & overflowing, rubbish all over the floors, boys running in and out of the ladies toilets & changing areas.

The large refuse bins were overflowing I don't know if they emptied them but everytime I went to put rubbish in the bins they were always so full that the lids could not be shut.

Could and SHOULD be doing better. We have booked 2 weeks this year for less than what we normally pay at haven for 1 week. Maybe it explains why they had empty pitches.

Admittedly we had fantastic weather for our week long stay at this site, we found it a great site.  We stayed on one of the hard standings and wished we were on the grass near the dunes.  The only bad point was the toilet block, several damaged sinks etc.  The toilet block was closed for maintenance on our last day so hopefully they will carry out these repairs before the season gets into full swing.
Although the beach access is steep, the views make it very worthwhile.  Our kids found a great freedom here.
Loads of electric points and more taps than I have ever seen, I think we walked 4 metres to water, electric and drain and about 15 metres to bins (which were emptied regularly).
Perranporth has everything you will need and a large supermarket on the way to Newquay (15 mins).
One thing I would advise/request.please do not litter this area, it is very scenic and the litter and dog mess we noticed spoils it and threatens the wildlife.

Very mixed reviews of this site here. We stayed one night in September 06 and liked it so much we booked another (for only another £5).

Our dog loved patrolling the rabbit holes in the sand dunes, we loved being able to pitch where we liked. Fabulous private beach and yes, it is a bit of a walk from the touring park, but well worth it.

We found the showers amazingly powerful - the force of the water nearly blows you out of the cubicle.

One tip: do NOT be tempted to try one of their breakfasts. They're vile!

After a ten hour drive to reach the site, we were given a pitch that was level, but covered in rabbit holes and droppings, we visited the toilet facilities and they were just disgusting and as the week progressed became more filthy, they close them for one hour a day, for cleaning, but I never saw any cleaning apart from the refilling of toilet rolls and sometimes if you were lucky soap.

The police were on the site three times, dealing with drunken behaviour from the clubhouse and it was quite the most awful place I have ever visited.

To top it all off, when we tried to get away from it all and walk to the beach, we realised after twenty minutes of walking that the beach was miles away. Two words. Never again.

I would not like to see this site in the high season. While I was there it was only a third full and still had to wait for the toilets, yes it was only peak times and there are two toilet blocks but one was boarded up while they worked on it. Our electric hook up failed one night and yes you guessed it it was raining. The van next to me said it had been going on and off all day and tried to blame his immersion heater for it. They came out when phoned and found it to be a fault with the post we where both connected to so he plugged us both in on the other side and said that would keep us going overnight. For the rest of the holiday they never came back to repair the fault.

Staff were very helpful, plenty of amusements for the kids good shops, site was clean. Didn't like the super-tents in with the touring section they all looked the same and looked like army barracks they where all the same shape and colour. I would go back again but not in the high season.

This was our first time camping as a family of six.
The pitch was tidy, the park was very well organised with helpful and friendly staff.
The sand dunes were brilliant for the children and adults.
I would definitely recommend this site for its excellent location, facilities, and entertainment.
Can't wait to return to Perran Sands,a brilliant holiday for all of us.
