Had a brill week here can't fault it one bit all facilities A1, booking in first class, pitches bumpy but level enough without causing any problems because of the plots being sand mostly only thing that if it rained it was a long walk to the main area for entertainment at night which was very good the grandkids loved it but we picked a very hot week. Walk onto beach was a path winding down the cliff but worth it has the sea and beach fantastic. When the tide went out you could walk into Perranporth which was lovely. Defo go again to Perran sands but pick a fully service pitch closer to reception.

Spent 2 weeks of the school summer holidays here in our tent. We were on an XL grass pitch with EHU, number 266 to be exact. The site was full as you would expect in the first 2 weeks of August.

The site is mostly surrounded by sand dunes and is the largest site we have ever been on. We found it a little too big. We have a 7 year old boy and the play ground was at the other side of the site, so far away that we would not let him go and play alone as he would have been well out of sight and earshot. Also there was no open space for ball games on the camping field.

There were 3 toilet/shower blocks. 2 of them were fairly new and pleasant, but the one nearest to our pitch was the old one. It was cleaned regularly but in need of refurbishment. Some of the showers drained the wrong way so you got other peoples' shower water running through your cubicle.

The camping field did not appeal to me greatly. Our pitch was well worn and mostly bare compacted sand with very little grass. Our first impression was quite poor as we were next door to some what appeared to be employees' caravans which had obviously been there for quite a while. They looked shabby to say the least.

On a more positive note our son had a whale of a time taking part in the various activities on the complex. Most of these were charged extra, but we purchased activity vouchers online pre arrival which were a reasonable price. We did archery, fencing, roller skating, kayaking, aqua jets, aqua gliders and paddlers, pool party, easy gliders, golf, trampolining, water walkers and karts. Unfortunately the climbing wall was broken. All the staff were fantastic and made the holiday really. The only niggle was that you had to queue quite a while sometimes at the 'hub' to arrange activities.

The spar shop was well stocked and priced ok. We never used the restaurants so cannot comment.

Mobile signal is patchy on the campsite but stand in the right place and you're ok.

We walked down to the beach through the site. It is steep in places on the way back up, but not really too much of a problem even if you are a couch potato like me.

We never went to the 'nightclub', but we did use the amusement arcade one night which was good, plenty of machines to attract my son and the usual air hockey and pool tables !

In conclusion, the overall holiday and main facilities were good. The camping field was not the best but adequate. It could do with some TLC.

We love this site as it has everything for us. We have been going here now for the past 5 years and never tire of the park and surrounding area. We go for the standard caravan which is no frills and adequate for us with 2 bedrooms a nice lounge area, well equipped kitchen and adequate shower/toilet. The site has its own path down to the beach, it is a steep gradient which you don't really notice until you are on your way back up !( a chairlift like at Alum Bay would be perfection). The beach goes on for miles in either direction with lovely sand everywhere, the surf is of course variable and not really consistent during our visits. Be careful of the tide times as the walk to Perranporth along the sand is subject to the tide status with the small headland to the left of the steps here being impassable at high tide. Beware of the costs at the 'Watering hole' the pub on the beach, idyllic but you pay the price. The site is situated amongst sprawling sand dunes which our dogs love to explore and a path leading to the ancient St Pirrans Church being excavated by archeaologists - look out for the modern concrete cross and the old church and St Pirrans cross (ancient celtic cross) is to your right. The site has everything here and a local chain runs the site shop which sells most things and is not overpriced. The facilities on site are excellent but we go out of season as we are sure the place would be heaving during high season. We have found that the static vans are closely spaced so expect some noise from your neighbours! our only criticism is that the car parking areas next to your caravan can be a bit uneven and we grounded the exhaust pipe on the car when we pulled up outside and had to park away from the caravan. A minor gripe for such a lovely site and a lovely area. Do explore the old tin mines in the area and if you are lucky you may see them filming Poldark in and around St Agnes about 5 miles from the site. Shops in Perranporth are a bit limited but we go about 5 miles down the road towards Newquay to the Quantrell Downs retail park where there is a huge Morrisons and a Lidl too so get all your shopping there. Newquay is worth a visit and explore the coastal road towards Portreath. Wheal Coates engine house ruin is worth seeing just east of St Agnes head. Dont miss out on the Cornish mining heritage site area with Geevor mine worth a visit and the Crown mine ruins at Botallick is worth a look as its perched on the edge of the cliff and is another location where they film Poldark! We will be going back again this year enough said !

We have just returned from a week at the Haven site. I agree that it may not be to everyone's taste but we had a fantastic time. We have stayed before and used the pool but weather was so good this time, we only went to the on site bar. The site a night was quiet even although it was full and we never needed to queue for either the toilets nor the showers. My wife said her showers were ok, not spotless but with the shear numbers it was not unexpected.

The week's pitch was a real bargain and would we return? Absolutely!

We had one of the fully serviced 'European Pitches' at the highest part of the touring site.

Check in was easy and the touring site was immaculately clean and tidy.

As other reviews have said, the newer WC facilities are really top class. The provision of a bath in both the male and female is great for young families. The wait for this could be quite long but the site was busy.

We booked the service pitch having used them previously at other locations but on arrival I was glad that we weren't on the lower field which to my mind was a bit cramped in. All of the caravans and tents appeared to be a bit on top of each other. Having said that, there wasn't much noise late in the evenings given the number of people on the site and the on site provision of entertainment.

We did use some of the facilities on the park but to be honest, with such great beaches close by there is no need to use the entertainment if you don't want. The restaurants on site were good but there did seem to be a bit of an issue with staffing throughout the entertainment are of the park. Some of the restaurants were critically low on staff and there was some chaos about operating times of some of the kids activities (trampolines in particular).

We got lucky with fine weather but there would have been plenty to do had it been wetter.

The campsite was great, and we would return in the future, even if we didn't use the Haven entertainment facilities.

Well having just returned from a week at Perran sands we are already thinking about going again next year. We found that the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the location of the site is great. Set amongst the sand dunes that the kids played in for hours and in walking distance to the beach, although would be a steep walk back up so we carried on down the beach to Perranporth and caught the bus back(bus stop on site is great). The on site restaurant, chip shop and pub are pretty good and other facilities such as pool are good. Being in a tent the pot washing, showers and toilet amenities are most important and although the block we were closest to was dated compared to the others it was always clean, never a queue and plenty of hot water.

All in all, a great site in a great location.

This is the second time we have enjoyed a stay at haven-the best haven site by far. Facilities excellent, with a variety of eateries, pizzeria and Spar shop in main complex. Great toilet/shower facilities with a choice of which ones to use. The site is surrounded by magnificent dunes, providing a great scenic walking area for dog, but also can be enjoyed as a peaceful walk. The beach is not far, about fifteen minute walk from rear of site. If mindful of tide times, can walk straight across beach at low tide into Perranporth, if high tide you use the cliff top paths, which provide excellent views and is a great place to watch the sunset. The site is generally very quiet for a very busy site, and so quite peaceful. There is on-site entertainment complex which is actually pretty decent, whatever your age.

Went Glamping in the Geo Domes fore 2wks just got back. Had 2ks of sun on the beach every day. The Geo Dome were great and better than we expected only downer was at 5pm when we come back off the beach could not sit inside to hot LOL. The pool was great and the wardens were great even take your own telly for world cup. Would go again in them.

The company itself are not good greed comes to mine.

Went to ask how much 2wks in August was with own tent quote was £847, down the road a farm quote was £500 for 2ks, only different is no swimming pool. Down road leisure centre with one. Will be going there. Geo Dome is £1000 a week in August LOL.

Mixed views on this site. I usually plump for quiet sites with basic facilities but as a single mum with two children aged 12 and 10, and being away for 2 weeks, I decided to try somewhere with more facilities for the kids.

Upon arrival the signposting is poor and the main reception difficult to find by car (we headed for the touring park where reception was closed then had to drive round to the main part of the site). Once we found it, we had a lovely warm welcome and the lady sent us back to the touring reception where she then met us to check us in.

Tents and caravans are mixed together and it did feel quite hemmed in with cars parked either alongside or in front of tents/caravans. We were opposite an older shower block which was definitely in need of updating compared to the newer ones elsewhere on site.

The site has plenty of facilities including Spar (over-priced and very busy), swimwear/gift shop, takeaway pizza and fish/chips, 2 bars, Surf Bay restaurant, launderette and hire shop for surfboards etc. The food at Surf Bay was good and there was free wifi available there too although the reception of this was patchy. The launderette was extremely over-priced and I made the decision to take 3 loads of laundry to a launderette in Newquay rather than pay their over-inflated prices.

Other facilities included an amusement arcade, indoor & outdoor pool, bungee trampolines, all weather football/sports pitch and evening entertainment. We didn't utilise the entertainment at all and the kids used the arcade a few times. We also used the outdoor pool twice and the kids did a couple of pool activities in the evening, plus archery, which they enjoyed.

The beach is a LONG walk (or cycle as we tried twice) from the campsite and we ended up driving there and walking down the very steep slopes/steps.

My main dislike of the site was that it was noisy and there seemed to be a general disrespect for quiet times (usually after 11pm on other campsites I've visited). Several nights I was awoken in the early hours with people shouting as they walked past our caravan and there were several campers who saw nothing wrong in playing their music at full volume with no regard whatsoever for those around them.

There was also no phone signal and no 3G anywhere near our caravan which was very frustrating (although some may say that's a blessing!) so to get any kind of signal we had to either go up to the main part of the site or off site completely.

In view of the number of facilities I used compared to the amount I paid for this site, I would have preferred to opt for a smaller, quieter 5* site which would probably have cost me half the amount and been twice as enjoyable. I won't be in a hurry to return.

After a recent visit to Perran Sands, we thought it important to try and give an opinion that is as objective as possible.

We arrived later than the Touring Reception permits on a Friday evening so had to drive through the park to get to the main reception. This wasn't a big issue, plenty of space to get through and a big enough car park to site our outfit and go into reception.

We were greeted by a very warm and friendly receptionist who gave us a brief overview of the park and pointed us in the direction of our pitch. Very friendly and a great start to the holiday.

Arrived at our pitch to find someone had parked their car across it. We were lucky the site was quite quiet so we selected a couple pitches up and called reception with our intentions. They apologised and were happy for us to move.

We would consider the facilities on the site to be excellent. It is apparent that a huge investment has been made on the camping and touring side with two new toilet blocks that are fitted to a good standard. The main complex itself is a 10 minute walk from the camping and touring site but if you walk across the sand dunes you will get there a little quicker. The swimming pool was reasonable, although the indoor pool alone is probably too small when it comes to peak season and the outdoor pool is closed due to bad weather. There is also a flume for the younger children (although we couldn't resist!).

The entertainment in the evening was good considering the time of the year - great for the kids and bingo and an act for the adults a bit later in the evening. Drinks are slightly overpriced but not extortionate. The games arcade is a good size and has something for everyone with another smaller arcade across the way.

There is a well stocked Spar shop on site as well as a fish and chip bar, a restaurant and a pizza takeaway. All are open until relatively late and reasonably priced.

One reservation is that the beach is a fair distance from the touring and camping field and a good 25 minute walk - we ended up driving to the beach and it was a steep walk down to the beach which would not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Overall though, a super site which we will definitely visit again. Friendly staff, great facilities and convenient to the local town/beach if walking is not an issue.
