August 2004 Went here for a holiday in 2003, very disappointed. We booked a "Super-Pitch" but did not get a bollard only had electric and a hole into a drain no water hook-up. "Super-Pitch" had no pivacy at all, no hedge or fencing to mark pitch. even had people walking thro space for awning to get across site. Very poor toilets & showers. Site seemed to only want to cater for people in statics & that tourers were a problem. Have read about other Haven Parks & all seem to be about the same. Have found far better parks & for less money. Will never return !!!!!!

August 2004 Just come back from an excellent holiday at Perran Sands (despite a rather revolting 9 hour journey to get there). We stayed in the touring park with our caravan and three children aged 12, 9 and 5. The site itself is well laid out, and everything is well signposted.
The site did have a couple of things that I would like to have known about before booking, but nothing that spoilt our holiday: the pitches are rather small, and rather close together compared to other sites we have visited; the only pub on site is tatty and unloved; the shop is too small for such a large site and the cabaret on the night we tried it out was horrendous!!!!
On the good side, the toilet blocks were all open, and despite being a little old, were clean and plenty big enough for the touring park (the showers are fantastic - hot and powerful and free!!!!), the sand dunes make fantastic places for kids to explore for hours, knowing that they can see the caravan at all times, the outdoor pool was lovely and warm and the football coaching was a huge hit!
Just a small point to note - the staff were fantastic! We stayed when the weather was nice and hot, and the staff were chasing the kids round the site with water guns - really nice atmosphere and lots of fun. Would go again, but not unless we had children, as the site is very commercialised, but at least you don't have bored kids!

August 2004 The park was lovely, staff where friendly and the activities for children are excellent. Plenty to do with rain or shine.
The shower and toilet blocks could get rather busy - but then it was peak season.
Would not recommend this park for children in pushchairs or the disabled as there are many sand dunes and access to the beach is very steep. Although if you are willing to travel then you can find some beaches with easier access.
As a family we will definately go back - once the baby is older and we dont have to push her everywhere.
All the benefits of the name Haven but with the price of camping.

April 2004 I wanted to go to Perran Sands as I visited it approx 30 years ago when I was a kid ( Took us 2 days to get there from Liverpool as the car kept breaking down !!). Using their website I booked a pitch for a caravan 3 days midweek at the end of April , big suprise it cost £6, not £6 a night ,but £6 for 3 nights. I checked 3 times , but the same price kept coming therfore no mistake. BTW Weekends were £17 a night. The site was easy to find following the instructions on their website.
As it was the low season we were able to pick our own pitch. The caravan pitchs are a good size and flat. The caravan area is bordered on two sides by sand dunes. Unfortunatly on the days we went it was very windy and made any outdoor activities unpleasant.
There were 3 toilet blocks for camper/caravanners of which only one was in use on our visit. There were plenty of toilets, but only 6 showers I could imagine queues in the peak season. Beware these showers are almost 'knock you down' powerful, but very refreshing. The block however was looking tired and in need of tidying & some cleaning ( no excuse really as our visit was before the peak season).
As we have 2 young children facilities for them were top of our list , in this respect Perran Sands exceeded our expectations. There was a climbing activity area next to the camping area, but the real fun was to be had in and around the Tropicana centre. There were various rides etc near to the centre and a good climbing area just outside, plus a padded one inside. Arcades were plentiful (unfortunately). There is professional entertainment for the children during the day and into the night done by enthusiastic & accomodating staff.
A very well stocked shop is on site with good prices. Eating out in the bar opposite was a disappointment as the food & drinks were pricey , portions not particulaly generous and staff just going through the motions of service. However in the Tropicana centre they served a very good pizza by a young man who was helpful & informative.
There is a path to the sea ,but due to the weather we never made it to the beach. This is not the sort of campsite we usually frequent as it is rather commerical, however if you have youngsters I would definatley reccomend it particulary in the low season and particulary for the kiddy entertainment.

Booked up for whitsun I was surprised to find that one of the biggest caravan parks in Britain offer camping facilites on their sites. I booked up for Whitsun week this year at a cost of £200 which for all the entertainment passes, an extra awning, car and pup tent was considered to be reasonable.
