Booked as our preferred choice up the road was closed. Checking in so easy, great pitch, showers and facilities. Pitch included use of the Haven facilities which pleased our 4 year old but it is an acquired taste. But the location on the dunes is wonderful, and so close to possibly the best beach ever. So if you want to stay in Perranporth at a site with stuff to do when it rains but also a great touring and tent site this is for you.

Stayed for 7 days arriving on Monday, was met by friendly staff and as I am a wheelchair user found the staff willing to help out erecting our tent. Good facilities, nice clean toilet/shower. Was good to see that wardens patrolled the camping area several times a day. Entertainment was plenty, shops and eateries were good but have to make sure you got there early to avoid long wait. Perranporth lovely small seaside town, would highly recommend a visit.

Stayed here for 7 nights on a euro pitch. We really enjoyed it and couldn't find any faults. The toilet blocks are modern with heated floors and where always kept clean. We were on a euro pitch which was great, I personally wouldn't stay on the grass pitches as most of the caravans where pitched closely together with no real order to them. The complex has all the usual facilities found on the haven sites. We used the chip shop and papa John's which although a little expensive was really good.

Whilst there we visited crealy adventure park which is great for the kids and adults, our 3 year old loved it. We also visited lappa valley steam railway which we all enjoyed. Perranporth beach is lovely which can be accessed from the park ( down a steep walkway) or via Perranporth itself which has a car park right next to the beech.

Just a note to anyone who is going on a euro pitch. Most of the water taps are a fair way away from the caravan. I needed to use my 10m and 5m lengths of hose

Overall we had a brilliant time and will most definitely be returning

This was our first ever camping trip and I had been looking on the Internet for a good few weeks to find a good location to put up our tent.

We (or I) had decided for Cornwall and found the Perranporth location after surfing the net and finding some other good options, but something about the Perranporth Sands site looked different and better.

So booked it literally 2 days before setting off.

The drive was good with only a bit of traffic, as they are looking to double the A30 by the summer of 2016, so the future drives will be great :)

We got to the site and on first entry it wasn't super clear where the tent/caravan guests had to go, as all the signs pointed for reception into the main camp area, so we followed. Parked up and went to guests reception. They asked tent or static, so I said tent and she gave me a map and pointed me in the right direction. So basically go back to the front of the park and turn off at the first exit, so wasn't super clear, but it was a nice day so it was ok.

Got to the tent reception and there were 3 staff members stood there, while a lady was doing something on a computer the site manager and another worker were stood talking to each other and I was told to wait a minute. So I initially thought, great start so far to this holiday. But I waited for about 10 minutes and the manager asked me my name went to the back and got my ready made envelope, which he could have just given me when I walked in and waited for no apparent reason??

But once I got my pass and got back in the car, we drove to our pitch and started putting up our tent. We had some great neighbours Tim and Kaz and their sons Jack and Jack. (Long story) and really enjoyed our first ever day and night on the site. We had lots of walks with the dog, as this site is super dog friendly and was amazed by the toilet and shower blocks how clean and warm they were, as we weren't expecting this.

Staff is generally friendly and the site is full of entertainment, but we mainly stayed on the tent site and walked out dog in the many dunes and ocean path.

We loved it so much, we just bought a new larger tent and are now keen campers and looking forward to many, many more camping trips and a long holiday next year.

This was the most expensive site I have ever booked at around £62 per night to pitch a tent and for that price I did expect a better toilet/shower block. They had re-built two out of the three blocks and they were lovely, even had a bath for the kids. However we were pitched closest to the ones that hadn't been renewed, they were old, tired and often smelly.

There is direct access (through the caravan park) to a lovely beach although it is a very steep walk down. The beach has a shop and lifeguards but no public toilets which it really needs with being such a steep walk back!

There is a free freezer block service at main camp reception. All the staff we came across where lovely. The pool was nice enough, and never overly busy like most other haven sites. Good choice of bars and food on site. The site shop (Spar) was ok but there are two coop's in nearby Perranporth and a large Morrisons fairly close by too. We had a lovely takaway from the Massala Indian in Perranporth. Overall a lovely site situated in a lovely part of Cornwall.

We took advantage of an early booking offer so nly paid half the normal price. Our pitch was on a slope and the wardens were helpful in providing blocks for our corner steadies to down on. If you want a level pitch book a hard standing one. Where we were pitched was adjacent to the toilet block and were lucky enough to have plenty of room infront and to the side of our pitch. Some pitches do look rather cramped for space.

Toliet block was kept clean by the cleaners who were often in there cleaning while you went about your buisniess ! Showers are a push button type you get a very short burst of water (2/3 secs) never any issues for hot water it was plentyfull. Site wardens were always around litter picking and always say hello.

The club house does not offer a large soft play for children !The main charector shows are all pre recorded with the charectors miming to whats going on but the kids like it. Bar prices are what you would expect from a large site so take plenty of money ifyou wish to spend a long evening in there.

Many of the things outside you have to pay for like crazy golf and the tandem bike hire.

There are numerous play areas with in the touring areas so your child is never far from play areas.

I've given VFM as 8 because we had a cheap deal but given that peakseason could cost near enough £800 I personally wont pay anyone that price in peak season.

We stayed for 2 weeks in the beginning of june. My first impression was why make the long access lane into the site so narrow?, constantly having to give way to oncoming traffic. On arrival the touring reception was closed and details of new arrivals pitches were clearly displayed in the window, however ours wasn't. 15 mins of trying to ring the given phone no (mobile signal is almost zero) we offloaded the caravan onto a nearby pitch and drove up to the main complex reception, usual friendly haven staff gave us our pitch details and we were away and pitched up on a nice flat hardstanding. It is a BIG site. With a 4yr old it's a 10 min walk to the main complex, our son loved going over the dunes while we walked on the main path. Every member of staff were absolutely brilliant. Even down to the bar staff, they were friendly, switched on and unusual for a haven resort every one was competent. Even the big muscled security were brilliant with the kids. The kids evening entertainment was usual haven, friendly funstars and good interactive games. Nice size arcade area, but a tad small soft play area but our son enjoyed it. The pool was lovely and warm, and again our son loved the slide. (they let non swimmers over a certain hight use the slide) 20p non refundable to use the swimming lockers. The toilet block is very modern and 9/10 for cleanliness. The beach access road took me 11 mins to reach from the hard standing with a good trot on. The access road is fairly steep however, living in walkley, Sheffield (VERY hilly) it was nothing. People were pushing prams up and down all day long. The beach is very nice and sandy and perranporth is a nice stroll along the beach, but not accessible in high tide. All in all a nice site that for us was spoiled a bit by the wind but that wasn't havens fault.

Spend 4 mid-week nights here on a standard touring pitch with our motorhome. We will definitely return - one of the best maintained sites we've been to, and fantastic location.

Pitch: we were on a standard grass touring pitch with EHU in the touring area of the site (RHS on entry - on the edge of the inland sand dunes, facing the village and church spire of Cubert). It was pretty flat - some neighbours were using blocks but we found it OK. There's a good tarmac road round the touring area, with sandy/grass pathways accessing pitches. These access ways were a bit potholey and in some places there were also reinforcing mats over the grass to drive on. There were lots of clean water and grey water points to choose from, plus a drive-over emptying point. The water points had just been repainted, and were the cleanest we've seen - obviously had been scrubbed very recently. Very clean Elsan emptying point in the main shower block. There were fully serviced Europitches closer to the main resort access road, but these were quite a lot more expensive than standard pitches when I was booking. The Europitches are on steeper land, and are terraced so each pitch is higher/lower than its neighbour - great views across the dunes to Cubert though.

Shower blocks: These were easily the cleanest shower blocks we've ever been too (and we've been to some prize-winners). They look like they are very new, and were absolutely pristine inside. Lots of hot water. One cubicle with bath; one extra large shower cubicle, and several standard shower cubicles. All serviced regularly by staff who were very much in evidence cleaning, emptyping bins etc several times a day. Washing up room had several sinks with big draining boards. Also very very clean. Obviously, we were visiting off season, and it was mainly adults on site though so cleanliness might be a different matter in high season.

Site 'village': The site Spar was open 8-8pm and had a perfectly adequate selection of all the normal stuff - bread, milk, veg, frozen stuff, booze, newspapers etc. Prices were acceptable. There's a cash point on site and the gift shop and bars/restaurants did cash-back. Fish'n'chip shop, pizza takeaway, a couple of sit-down restaurants and bars. We didn't eat at any of these, but our neighbours ate out every night and said the food was good portions, at an OK price. Local fish and seafood on the menu. Pizza delivery to your pitch.

Entertainment: This seems to centre mainly on the kids, with a programme throughout the day and early evening for them. Live entertainment every evening started (for adults) with bingo at around 8pm, then some kind of audience-participation session, be it games, karaoke, quiz etc; finished off with a set by the site entertainment team (pretty amateurish, but entertaining enough). On the thurs, fri, sat nights there is a more professional live act that comes in (not the on site team). We saw a comedian who was actually very good in a bit old-fashioned, 80s way. He was quite near the knuckle, worked the audience really well and got the biggest audience and applause of the whole week.

Activities: Didn't use the pool or various activities (mini-golf, pedal karts, archery etc) but all well used by others.

Site and location: The site is on a Site of Special Scientific Interest - the highest sand dunes in the UK, with a whole range of unique flora and fauna. There are a host of walks you can do from the site, with various wildlife points of interest well signposted. Free leaflets with walks etc from reception. There's a half-hourly bus service from the site that goes to Truro/Newquay. And the huge, golden sandy beach is a 10 minute walk down a (steep) concrete access path/ steps from the site. Perranporth town is 1 mile from the site, via the beach, and Holywell 3 miles along the beach. Southwest Coastal Path also runs through the site. So much to do, you don't really ever need to leave the site, but if you do want to go further afield, the A30 was around a 12min drive - the Eden Project took us 35 mins, and National Trust Lanhydrock, about the same.

Stayed at Perran sands for a week in April. Arrived on Saturday and we followed the warden on his tractor to our pitch. The site was really quite. All the pitches that were being used were all by the toilet blocks. The toilet blocks were excellent and heated. As the site was quite our daughter could ride her bike and scooter about the park. There is a new child's play area on touring park. The dog walking is excellent. The warden were always about cleaning, cutting lawn, strimming so the park was really tidy. The weather was great all week so walked to the beach most days but the walk back is uphill (hardwork). Would definitely stop here again

Spent 2 weeks here and couldn't have gotten a better site. Friendly lady directing people when you first arrive. Reception took only 5 minutes to sort out the booking. They give you a map and show you where everything is. Disabled key is £20 deposit. We were on pitch 137 and it was not too green. (Summer use and the ground is sand/dirt mix which I presume is why hardly any grass where we pitch the tent. )

We were about as far away from the shops/bars/entertainment as you could get, but it was only a 7 minute walk. I'm disabled and walk slower than most, but did it easily. Pitches are big enough for our Montana 6P and awning and enough room for the car and seating beside it.

The Spar shop on site was very good for stock and not overly priced like some camp shops. There was a fish and chip shop and a Big John's also. The Surf Bay Restaurant food was a little expensive for those on a budget, but the food in all 3 places was good.

The night time entertainment was as cheesy as it gets but kept the kiddies happy. Beer prices were not extortionate either.

The disabled toilet/shower were kept very clean in both blocks. (Need a shaver plug point in them) The ordinary showers, like most sites, had a few hooks on the back of the door. No place to keep your clothes/towel dry. Otherwise they were also kept spotless.

The walk down to the beach is very steep. I went down but there is no way I could get back up. So we walked along the beach to Perranporth. 20 minutes and you're at the Watering Hole pub on the beach. Great place for a pint or six. Would I visit here again? Damn right I would. We're going back next year!
