Went for a weekend away to Perran Sands with the family.
When we arrived we went straight down to our pitch and was able to easily set up our Vango Amazon 600 tent and still had plenty of room for the car and trailer.
The first thing that the holiday park have renewed are the toilet blocks in the touring field these have been completely renovated, although the site was quiet the toilet block was kept spotless.
The other facilities have been renovated with a new restaurant being built and the main club room being modernised a lot of money has been spent by the owners of the site.
The playground in the camping field could do with being modernised and something there for the older child.
The site is in a great Cornish village with a very good surfing beach.
Will definitely be going back as Haven also seem to be having some great discounts on.

Just returned from perran sand and we have had a fabulous week.
Shower blocks were new for this year, very clean as they were done at least 3 times a day. Tents and caravans were mixed together,
There's a bar for meals with you don't need passes for. We had two meals here with our dog who was very welcome.
Indoor pool was great we used every day.
The beach was a great walk.
Would highly recommend this site, the facilities were fantastic as were all of the staff.
The local area blow me away was so nice. The buses that stop on sight saved me from driving everywhere. Perranporth was great lovely place. Newquay, St Agnes was great.

little disappointed they informed all the visitors they were under a amber alert for the bad winds last weekend just before we landed ( same morning ) but let us pitch 2 tents without warning us. Our tent collapsed 3 times during Sat nights severe wind and was in great danger of becoming a kite on Sunday. We did not leave the tent out of fear on Sunday. That is my only complaint though the camp and entertainment staff were great
The area had loads for us all to do with plenty fishing for the guys
I would have no problem going back here but I would be more choosy on my pitch area as it is on sand and some is quite exposed in the wind so you will need heavy duty very long pegs
Amenities were spotless and the heated floor in the shower room is a blessing when you have children in the showers with you ( as most mums will understand )
Best news is you can order a pizza at Papa Johns on camp and they will deliver to your pitch.
Just don't use the Orange network as to get a signal you need to be outside Papa johns anyway
But signal in most areas in Cornwall was dodgy to say the least
The others on 02 network seemed to be ok all over the camp and local area.

Just returned from perran sand and we have had a fabulous week.
As its along way for us to travel we did it over night, stopping off in services, only to find when we reached there they had a over nights park. Checking in and waiting for our pitch was a pain but we got there in the end.
Shower blocks were new for this year, very clean as they were done at least 3 times a day. Tents and caravans were mixed together,
Great play ground was good, older children were still on it after dark and could be noisy at times,
There's a bar for meals with you don't need passes for,
Spar, gift shop, burger king, amusements which you needed a pass for,
Indoor and outdoor pool again pass needed and family entertainment room, we saw Chico the week were there.
The beach isn't easy to get to all down hill so coming back up is a killer, there is no loo's down there so go before setting off.
Would highly recommend

I always read reviews when booking a site so I feel it's only fair to offer a service back and make an effort to start writing them myself!
Who went: Me (The Mum!) Fin (10) and Jacob (9)
Having never stayed on a site like this before I was worried before we set off. Also as we were booked into one of the Super tents I didn't know what our holiday would be like, well it was FANTASTIC!
I can't lie and have to own up that having beautiful weather really made it for us.
We arrived to book in and were met with friendly, kind and reassuring staff. Given a map and told which tent was ours. Off we went in search of our house for the coming week. Easily located, parked up next to it we couldn't wait to unzip the door to our huge pre-erected tent. I was thrilled!
I'd brought an extra table, kettle, toaster, rugs, bedding and we made our Super tent Super cosy. Although I hadn't needed to bring anything only the bedding, the extras I brought made it a more familiar camping trip.
The facilities (shower block and pot wash) were close by and brand new. Constantly cleaned and warm, fresh and although the site was full we didn't have to wait (I am an early riser though)
The rest of the site was also immaculate and everyone we met was friendly and just regular folk. I was worried, and I can't deny. A bit of a snob thinking some of the other families may be a bit loud, but I was wrong, everyone was lovely. We used the pool, the entertainment, the infernal 2p machines(!) and the crazy golf.
Each day we went off and had adventures. Eden project, Zoo, pretty picture postcard villages and fabulous beaches. No 2 days were the same.
If we were the kind of family that return and repeat holidays then I wouldn't think twice at visiting Perran sands in a Super tent again.
If I had to find any negative about the tent it would be how noisy they are in the wind. But I felt a whole lot safer and dryer than I would have done in our own tent. To drive off on our last day and leave the tent as we'd found it was a God send!
I believe there were families packing up early. Some had damaged tents due to the wind. For the extra £40 it cost to use their tent than mess about with mine was well worth it. Any Mum's reading this about to travel on your own with the kids then I can't recommend this option more.

It just wasn't for us. Last summer we booked 5 days here with 3 kids aged 9 to 12 in the motorhome. Good pitch, water pipes you cant attatch a hose to so take a watering can to get water into your van.
The beach is lovely don't get me wrong but we called it the hill of death.
Main problem I am sorry to say were the other people, my kids rode their bikes up to the shop and when they came out they had been taken and dumped a little way away with my daughters bell broken off. They went to the kids club when some 15 year olds gate crashed and started swearing at the organisers. The next day the lads crashed again and the entertainment team had to call security to get them removed. Kids went in the indoor pool and said it was small. Entertainment was ok but again its a seating problem, food in the pub was fine.
Bad weather kicked in so we came home after 3 nights.
Its just not my type of campsite I am afraid. I have not given the place terrible marks as it does what it says on the tin, it was just a learning curve for us and not for us again. Most peole are already aware of what these places entail but it was one of our first trips away with the motorhome.

We stayed here in July, we were quite lucky with the weather, although it does get breezy, as it is on the cliff top.
The site was busy, but the touring area is well served with 2 huge quite modern toilet/shower/dishwashing blocks, which were constantly being cleaned.
Our pitch was supposed to be an extra large one, but we were a little disappointed with the size of it, just managing to fit our Meridian 10 in the allocated space. The nearest water outlet was a pushbutton type, and so took ages to fill our container, but we found another one a little further away which was a normal tap, so we used that one instead.
The site is one of the nicest locations we have ever stayed at, with plenty to do without having to go off site. The walk down to the beach is very long and steep, and we gave up halfway, and drove down into Perranporth and used the beach there instead, which was beautiful and a popular haunt for surfers and hang-gliders, which was intersting to watch. The sea is clean and clear.
Perranporth has a good selection of seaside shops and eateries, and is kept very well. Worth the long drive!

Stayed in a supertent as wanted my fix of camping but my knee is not well so would find tent pitching difficult.
The ready erected tents are in the touring area so share all the same facilities. Overall we loved the park and area.
Pitches appeared generous and set amongst sand dunes which was lovely. Toilets, showers and washing up were modern and spotless. The lovely cleaner seemed constantly present and always appeared cheerful. Special mention to Brett a young warden who was exceptional.
There is a lovely play area for children which was well used but never any problems with rowdy older children.
A landtrain visits throughout the day to take you to the complex and shop, although the walk by path or sand dunes was pleasent.
The beach looked beautiful but it was too steep for me to try and walk. Only access by foot and most people appeared exhausted when they returned up the path. No toilets or facilities on the beach so something to bear in mind. Perranporth has an accessible beach with parking nearby, £4 charge for the day but all monies were donated to local charities so it felt good paying the charge!

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of June. The basic pitches are at the top of the touring area near the exit and the bus stop. They're on a slight slope but nothing to worry about. It's about a 10 minute walk to the entertainment area and 20 mins to the footpath down to the beach. And what a beach, it's well worth staying here just for that!
We didn't bother with the entertainment complex - 20 minutes of really awful comedy one night put us off trying anything else. It looked like lots of people were enjoying it though so maybe just a taste thing!
The wind was definitely a problem - our tent held up really well but it was put through it's paces and I was thankful for the storm straps. It was like sleeping in a crisp packet a couple of nights!
The new toilet/shower block was very clean and a credit to the site.
Overall much better than I expected from a big complex with friendly staff, good facilities and a fabulous location.

Let me start by saying we had no problem with the camp site at all and we left very happy people after our 7 night holiday at Perran Sands with our 2 Pug dogs.
First of all, easy check in. We got to pick out our own pitch as they hadn't allocated us one so we picked our pitch and set up in extremely strong winds that day! The pitch was a perfect size for our Vango Icarus 500, Front Canopy and our car next to the tent. We experienced a couple of days of rain and had no problems with our pitch and surrounding pitches. Be careful though as there were some pitches that had huge puddles on - You never know whether a pitch is bad until it rains unfortunately.
On to the toilet/shower block/wash up areas. Luckily they have just revamped two of their shower blocks for 2012 so we were extremely happy with the cleanliness of the showers and toilets. The only nit picking I will do is they could have designed the shower a little better with maybe a shower curtain and a little place to sit on! Otherwise no complaints in that department. The wash up area is all under cover in a room with a door. If you're camping in a tent I'd make sure you pitch near the two new shower/toilet blocks as I had a quick gander at the old block and it's a little outdated compared to the new ones (Saying that though their showers had a curtain and a bench to sit on!)
The park is huge so expect a lot of walking around depending what you wish to do. The main entertainment complex is a short walk from the campsite but once you find your route it doesn't seem long at all. All depends where you pitch up!
We only used the Spar shop in the main complex which is like a mini super market so easy to pick up any essentials if you don't wish to travel. The park is surrounded by sand dunes which is great if you love walking whether on your own, with your children or with your dogs. Our dogs loved exploring around the dunes.
I'll finish off with surrounding areas Perranporth and Newquay. Both lovely places with gorgeous beaches which all welcome dogs. We spent one day sitting on Perranporth beach with the dogs and spent a few more days on different beaches in Newquay including the renound Fistral Beach and if you love surfing - You're in the right place for it.
