Cracking site fabulous beaches. Holiday ruined by gale force winds for 6 days and rain. 25 tents were lost on site, luckily our voyger 6 managed to stay in one piece. We came back 1 day early it was that bad.
People slept in their cars and loads of kids crying.
Having said all this perran sands is a great place, top staff, and perranporth itself is pure brilliant. Please check the weather before you go. Do love this place and its not their fault the wind was crazy.

Usually stay clear of these sites but went on a special offer price thought we would give it a try being in term time. Must say we were pleasantly surprised.
2 new shower blocks kept very clean by a young lady who worked tirelessly.
Ground was well drained when it rained. Not the prettiest touring area but apparently undergoing some updating and landscapeing over next few years.
Great entertainments for families if a bit expensive. Great dog walking in dunes huge area. Plenty of wardens who were helpful and pleasant. Will return to this site

Went on the sun vouchers as I have several times before and this site is easily the best I have visited on the cheapo deals. Our caravan had a truly jaw dropping view over the coast, it takes about 5 mins to walk down to one of the finest beaches in the UK, flat on one end for kites, surfers etc and beautiful soft sand and rock pools towards the town end for the kids. This end did seem to have a lot of dogs at the time we were there, but I am assuming that was because it had turned to October during the weekend. The town itself is ok and has a couple of boozers and shops and there is a great bar on the beach which does good food.
Not a huge fan of holiday camps as such, but I tend to use them just for the accommodation rather than the facilities. But this one seemed ok if you like that type of thing. And there was a refreshing lack of tracksuit wearing, bulldog wielding loud mouths you often get at these places.

A last minute booking. Staff very friendly. Touring/tenting pitches a VERY long hike to main area, probably want to drive up there.
Great bus service to Newquay. Truro st. Ives ( last bus from Newquay 23. 30) only one shower block remained open out of three, looking very tired but then I guess it is the back end of the season. You could tell most of the guests were on £9. 50 holidays.
Site was OK at £75 for 6 nights though we stayed at Tenby at the start of the season and it was 100% better.
Great area loads of places to visit, Henleys Cider Farm was great for a wet day.
wouldn't rush back to Perran Sands but for a cheapy last minute with the grand kids would be OK

We stayed at Perran Sands using the Sun Holidays vouchers.
There was a slight mix up with the booking on my part to be fair, but the staff couldn't have been more helpful, going out of their way to make sure that we were happy.
We used the pool on a couple of occasions and it was lovely, but due to us having fantastic weather, we made use of the beach and didn't really use the facilities very much. The access to the beach was a fairly steep pathway down, but its gorgeous once your down. Absolutely wonderful and we walked over to Perranporth along the beach and via The Watering Hole pub for some much needed liquid refreshments towards the end of the day watching the sun set then caught the bus from Perranporth back to the site.
It really was one of the best holidays we've had in this country, aminly due to the location and weather. We went to the club one night although preferred the Mash & Barrel. There are 2 different clubs although one looked a bit dated. We found the site tidy clean and facilities were good. I would certainly return.
The location means its not too far to drive to Newquay, St Agnes and further to St Ives, Lands End and other places of interest long the bottom of Cornwall.

We have just returned from this site, I must admit I did worry about going there, as the reviews have not been that good, however I need not have worried at all. We had a flat pitch which was very large. We arrived at 9am and our pitch was empty so they allowed us to pitch, which was great. The facilities were very clean, and had plenty of hot water, and toilet roll, even though the site was full, there was never a queue for the shower or toilet. The wardens keep the site very clean and tidy.
The playground is great for the kids, also a little train runs from the main facilities around the park. We didn't use the facilities much as went out a lot, but when we did they were very good, the kids are well looked after with kids clubs, and lots for them to do.
There is a beach with is fab. Perranporth is worth a visit, lots of little shop, and a coop which is much cheeper than the spar on site.
We did go to the Cornish Cyder Farm (fab tour and lots of free samples)which is only 3 miles away.
Perran Sands is great for families and couples, however we didn't make full use of everything that they had to offer. Having been to a few Haven sites this has to be the best we have stayed at. I would go back to this site due to its location, and next time stay longer as its a long way to Cornwall and with so much to see and do on and off site I would like 2 weeks there. I give this site 8/10

Just got back from a 2 week break at Perran Sands. Overall, we really enjoyed this holiday.
The site is well kept with flat, large pitches. Being on sand dunes does give great drainage, even with heavy rain. There are 3 large toilet blocks and are as clean and well kept as can be expected on a campsite.
Family rooms with baths if you have children (lock combination is given to you when you check in). Pot washing area large and covered and most importantly there is constantly hot water for washing up and showering.
The camping area has a nice feel and our 8 year old son enjoyed cycling around the site and playing in the fabulous play area which is set in a huge sand pit.
A short walk to the main facilities including a Spar shop, pool, amusements and take aways. Although these facilities are handy, a short drive to Perranporth gives all of these too.
Personally, we found the main area servicing the static caravans a little 'chavvy'. The 'Funworks' amusements were like the lair of the lotus eaters for children and unless you were prepared to go to the evening entertainment 2 hours early you have no chance of getting a seat or seeing the show clearly.
The kids club is not a kids club, but a few organised events, you cannot leave the kids and they take no responsibility for their safely so we saw no point in sticking to their timetabled events.
The other advertised facilities (which are numerous) - archery, karting, water walkers, aqua jets, wall climbing, trampolines to name a few were all at an extra charge and you have to buy an activity card and often book in advance - we found this too expensive although if you have 2 children the second can go free. The swimming pool closes for a long lunch and kicks you out at 5. 30 to make way for the 'owners club'.
You also have to pay for the hair dryer with 20p's and I have very short hair and 40p didn't dry my hair - I became obsessed with collecting 20p's.
Overall, although we enjoyed it we probably won't return to Haven as we found it was over priced unless you make use of the facilities and evening entertainment. We could have got our holiday a lot cheaper but we thought we would use them more than we did - even though we had some very bad weather.

Just got back from a terrific weekend away at Perran Sands,
when we arrived we where given a pitch although our pitch was okay some of our friends that came with us had problems as there was a caravan on their pitch, this was quickly rectified,
our pitch was pretty level and managed to take our Vango Amazon 600 tent and Car and still had plenty of room for sitting outside, we also had other friends arriving later on in the day and again the warden managed to arrange it so that we were all together.
The site has a lovely park for the children to play in, the toilets are kept reasonable clean although the showers are a little cold but with it being mid season this is understandable.
There is a club room although we didn't use it as we wanted to keep it a cheap holiday, to get to the main room you have to walk through the arcade and this can become expensive especially with our 9yr old son.
The swimming pool is good fun with plenty of events going on in the evening they get out inflatable castle for the children to play on again our son enjoyed this, there is plenty of entertainment for the kids, Archery, Coca cola football although the Archery you have to pay for this.
There is a bus service nearly every hour and this is a great way of getting to see some of the other surrounding areas such as Truro and Newquay.
The site is fairly big and although this was the busiest I have seen the touring field we didn't feel like we where on top of each other, with plenty of walks around the campsite which is surrounded by sand dunes our dog loved this.

Having done a few haven holidays we thought this would be as good as last year, however this site was a big disappointment in many ways. This hasn't put us off using haven again in the future. But we will never return to perran sands:
Positives:
Location 1mile from perranporth and 8 from newquay.
Site is situated on sand dunes so has good drainage.
Views from cliffs over the Atlantic beautiful sunsets.
Negatives:
Bouncers at family club were more like nightclub bouncers.
The campsite is too far away from the main facilities ideally should have its own shop/pub/club.
Showers/toilets etc need an urgent facelift.
Constantly windy even on the nicest clear blue sky days.
The reception staff were helpful but ultimately had little local knowledge.
The spar shop is only open until 1900 although it is fairly priced.
Outside the park morrisons is your nearest supermarket in newquay although perranporth has a good coop which is open until 2200. It also has a weatherspoons which does good food and beer at reasonable prices, scoobies chip shop is good if you fancy fish and chips.
I wouldn't recommend perran sands to friends for a camping holiday as I feel haven have neglected the campsite compared to other haven sites we have stayed on.

We got a great deal on this - £78 for 7 nights with EHU! We did book 11 months in advance though. The pitches were a good size, our Outwell Idaho XL (huge)sat comfortably next to the car.
Pitches were flat and accomodating Perranporth was lovely, a great co-op for all the basics and lovely pubs and little shops. Newquay wasn't too far away, well worth a visit.
The site was ok, we're regulars to Haven's static holidays but found this site to be disappointing in comparison.
The camping area was miles away from the main complex with the shop, takeaways and entertainment. This meant a long walk with three children to use the pool or see the kids shows.
Our nearest toilet block was closed 2 days into our stay and so we had a fair walk to the next block.
It was incredibly windy and our footprint was ripped from it's pegs when we were packing up and literally torn in two by the wind! I would not visit here again.
I'd rather pay more for a site without entertainment and go out, explore and find our own!
