Just had a long weekend at this site, apart from the weather it was very enjoyable. Staff very friendly and helpful, on arrival were show to our pitch and constantly asked if we needed help. Facilities were very clean and quite local to all pitches. The views from this site are fantastic (even if the wind turbines out at sea are a bit of an eyesore.
Couple of little negatives, the hard standing pitch we were put on was very narrow, it was surrounded by a kerb on 3 sides and I had to balance our Aquaroll on a storage box as it would not fit between the caravan and the kerb, same problem with our step I had to put it half under the caravan which made it very difficult getting in and out of caravan, I could have put it on the grass but it would have resulted in a wide gap to step across. I could have got over this problem by moving our caravan tight up against the kerb I could have then got the Aquaroll in and put the step on the grass but when I realised this I had already dropped the legs and put the wheel lock on, but I still feel for a super pitch (all services)it was very small.
Nearest shop for papers is 10 min walk away and sells basically nothing else, its just across the road from the nearest pub and next door to the chippy (which closes at 8pm) Access to the beach is none existant, we did manage to find some steps just across from the old lifeboat house but the bottom step is around 2 foot 6 of the rocks below, so impossible if you are less able. I can't deny there is an amount of noise from the A55 and also the train track (one runs one side of the site the other runs on the other side so no escape)But the noise is at a minimum and caused us little trouble.
I thought the cost of £21 per night was quite good, we paid an additional £2 per night for the super pitch which to me is worth it. Would I go again?. Yes I would and I would recommend the site to anyone wishing for a nice base close to some of North Walses best attractions.

For the site :-
Nice and tidy.
Staff are good and numerous.
Good location if you like to be close to the sea and a good cycle track.
Against the site :-
Its expensive for what you get – I think its because they have so many staff and then have high overheads.
Too many pitches, every inch is being used to squeeze in more and more van. Stop before you ruin it !
Some of the showers need refurbing ( at main reception point)
Showers are very very wet – I mean everything gets wet in the cubicle. How about a shower curtain.
Could be noisy for some rail line on one side busy duel carriageway on the other

We have passed this site numerous times on our way further into Wales and always wanted to try it. Wow - are we glad we did. A beautiful, well maintained site. Excellent tarmac access roads, well kept grass areas and bins / water / grey waste never more than a few meters away. The toilets are cleaned several times a day and never shut for cleaning, a great idea, no more wondering what time are they closed ?!?
The staff are excellent and have a wonderful knowledge of the surrounding area. The no. 12 bus runs along the coast bewteen Rhyl & Conway giving access to most places worthy of a visit. Yes, the A55 is a bit noisy, but you DO get used to it and it is worth tolerating to stay at Bron Y Wendon.
We will be visiting more than once in 2013 as it is just over an hour from home.
If staying, you must walk along the coast towards Abergele and visit the Tides Bistro. Fantastic food in a lovely ambience and a great location.

Arrived on the site and was escorted to our pitch. The lady then guided us on to our pitch ( all staff very helpful). We had a sea view and was situated in between both shower blocks and the water utilities.
Shower blocks were cleaned several times a day and the water was piping hot. The site is kept in excellent condition with the grass being cut daily. An ice cream van visits the site daily. Yes the first couple of days you can hear the A55, but after that and a couple of glasses of wine you don't notice it.
There are 3 pubs within walking distance from the site one of them being the Fair View Inn which serves good food at reasonable prices.
All in all a superb site, great location and very helpful staff. We would not hesitate to visit again.

Well what to say. Brilliant spring to my mind. It was exactly what we hoped for. A large hard standing pitch. With a sea view, and what a view about 4 feet from the pitch was the drop down to the sea so you literally looked over the water. I will however say one small thing that you may want to bare in mind. If you are like us wanting that sea view and so go on the edge then make sure your awning is up to the task of withstanding that sea wind. Ours was but I don't think I would have liked to use just the normal pegs you get with one of the newer porch awnings. The wind does come in strong.
The facilities on site are ok. The showers were ok, the water pressures a little low but the showers are free and they don't use the push button system. The reception is manned 8 till 8 and there was always someone there. They also have wi-fi at a fairly ok price too.
The only two tiny snags I would bring up is one, the games room is only a room with a ping pong table in it so I can imagine when there are a lot of kids on the site this doesn't really keep many of them entertained.
Also the pitches are 5 inches sunk so if you happened to have a wide awning then it may not fit and it has to go inside the hard-standing pitch footprint. But even taking that into account it was a lovely site with a fantastic view.
Also with it being only a few hundred yards away from the A55 express way accessibility for Wales is so easy.

The reception was efficient and brisk, we were shown to our pitch but not shown the games room or told about the wi-fi we didn't see the information until late in the day and at £3 day we did not bother.
The grass was nicely mown, the bin area was clean but not much recycling. The shower were clean and lovely and hot.
This site has lovely views of the sea, but the beach is a bit of a let down, rocks and boulders.
The pitches are grass and hardstanding, quite close together we were surrounded on all sides.
The noise from the A55 was not nice and the site did not have a holiday atmosphere in our opinion. There was very little within walking distance and because of the road noise we went off site during the day.

Had a fantastic 8 nights at this site. Site is very easy to find of the A55 (less than 2 minutes). On arival reception staff were very helpful with checkin and walked us to the hard standing pitch. Member of staff also help direct onto the hardstanding so we were positioned to fit the caravan and awning in.
Site is positioned between A55 and railway line, but the pitch we were on was above the railway, so only noticed trains as they went past, and below the A55 so there was only a low hum from the road.
Individual pitches are spaced out and it does not feel like you are being crammed in.
Ther are plenty of grassy areas for the kids to run about and play. The staff did request no ball games around the caravans, which is understandable as I would not want my new caravan being hit by a football!
Toilet blocks were spotless and cleaned regularly. Always plenty of hot water available for showers/washing/washing up.
Aparently there is a games room with a ping pong table and TV, but we did not get to use.
The TV signal is excellent with just our 'mushroom' and TV card plugged into a laptop. There was no need for satelite/big arial.
We would highly recommend and are intending to visit again.

We stay regularly at Bron Y Wendon, as it is only an hour and a quarter from where we live.
We know the site from the time my husband worked in that area of Wales, building the A55 road thirty years ago, when the site now occupied by Bron Y Wendon was where the concrete was produced and plant and vehicles were stored.
It has been nice seeing the site develop from its use when the motor way was being built to how it is now in its mature state. I has been interesting to see, like a time lapse film we have seen trees and foliage grow and take shape.
Bron Y Wendon is a large open site divided into large grassy areas. It has views of the sea from most spots on the site, with the railway down a steep embankment between the sea and the site.
Their toilet and shower facilities are very good, clean and well maintained. There is a games room in what was a former farm house. Parts of the house are available to let as apartments for visitors without caravans. There are two large shower blocks and a lavatory by the games room.
There is no shop, club or restaurant on the site. I'm not sure about a play area visitors would have to check the on line information or enquire at the office. I can't recall seeing tents on the site but its worth checking whether they allow pup ents. Motor homes are also allowed.
Dogs are allowed.
The beach is accessible down a steep road from the site ans is only a five minute walk. There is a pleasant walk along the beach and the river taking you towards. Abegele and a cafe situated on the beach about a fifteen minute walk away. The cycle path network runs along the beach from Abegele to Rhos on Sea, which you can see from the beach and indeed from the site.
In the other direction it is on a five minute walk to the village of Llanddulas.
We have always found the staff of Bron Y Wendon to be friendly and helpful. The site has the usual electric hook up and dishwashing, laundry and water/waste facilities. It is convenient for Colwyn Bay and all the surrounding holiday destination being the gate way to North Wales.
We have stayed at Bron Y Wendon regularly over the last twenty odd years. It is a relaxing, spacious, clean and convenient site. We hope to visit again and would certainly recommend it couple and families.

Only stayed here one night thank goodness. Site well maintained, set on a slop looking out to sea. If you were near the railway lines it was a long trek to empty waste and chemical toilet. Showers almost scalding. If you are noise intolerant as I am you will hate the noise from the A55 it is constant day and night it gets into your head.
I visited this site many years ago when it was only small, there used to be a gate at the bottom of the static field which was a short cut to the beach. This has gone and now you have to walk down the road at the side which is very steep. Not recommended for people with walking difficulties.

We visited Bron y wendon at the end of June, arriving about 7pm, very pleasant and helpful staff, you are escorted to your alocated pitch and instructed where everything is.
All pitches seem to have a good sea view, the site is sloping and few pitches are level so minor levelling is required, the site is very well kept and as a barrier entry system which is easy to operate,
There are two facilities blocks which again were spotless, the one we used had large shower rooms and plenty of hot water,
The site is a stones throw from the A55 and there is a constant rumble of traffic which is worse at the top of the site, a train line runs below the site, but is not that noticeable,
For motorhomers water fill up could prove a little tricky as we had to find a stand pipe and block the road, but by far the worst is the motorhome waste dump point, very poorly thought out, a member of staff has to remove a large metal plate and its in a very awkward position, best to bucket away,
Great for cycling along the sea front to Rhyl or dog walking, pubs are close by but we didn't visit,
All in all a nice little site for a weekend away, take your bikes and enjoy
