Recently had a one night weekend stay at this site with my 5 year old daughter (her first camping trip). I found the site to be excellent, with friendly staff and a first class location. We got directed to a spacious pitch with a sea view.
The site facilities were excellent. The toilet block and washing facilities were clean and tidy. There is a small play area with a slide and a couple of swings, which only kept my 5 year old busy for a short time. There is an adventure playground within the nearby Culzean Country Park and this was better for keeping children occupied.
There are plently of places to walk in the area, but you will need to use you car if you want to go shopping or visit the surrounding towns.
All in all we had an excellent overnight stay, in pleasant surroundings. I would recommend this site and will be returning myself in the future.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the site staff were helpful.
The place was kept nice and clean. The toilet/Shower block was ideal and even OH had a shower (not normal for her to use them as she is a fussy person when it comes to shower cleanliness.)
This site is a mix of hard standing and grass (mostly grass) and we were lucky to get a HS with a loverly view of the sea and the Isle of Arran.
With 2 boys 6 and 3, there is not a lot at the park on site for them but for a small fee it is definitely worth getting a pass to the castle grounds, where there is an adventure park and access to a quite beach.
The site shop has the basics like milk and bacon and at reasonable prices. If you need something more there are some shops in Maybole and ASDA in Girvan.
Anyway I can recommend this site as a good base to explore the Ayrshire Coast.

Visited this site at the end October, so probably not at its best.
The site staff were terrifically helpful and we had a choice of pitches. Limited but all necessaries for a good breakfast in site shop.
We chose to have a view, overlooking field and across sea to Arran. The sunset was beautiful even in Oct, and I`ve never seen so many pheasants in one field.
Toilet block was dated but spotless. Showers only lukewarm and could have flowed better.
Disabled toilet/shower was excellent but `Baltic` unless heater had been running for 10 mins prior to entering.
Excellent stop off to visit castle, due to reduced rates if staying on this site, week long family ticket should have been £30, but was only £15-keep site receipt just in case!
No recycling facilities an chemi loo facility was at far end of site.

It was nice to come to such a nice, safe enclosed site but yet still had a fantastic outlook across fields to the sea. We found a deserted beach by car up the road a bit. It was stunning in the evening with the castle on the cliff in the distance and a backdrop of shrubs and rocks and trees. The castle grounds take a while to go round but your ticket lasts all week. The grounds incorporate a deer park, adventure playgrounds and more but take a buggy for wee ones! Alternatively there are ample car parks. There is also a great beach in the castle grounds which was a real sun trap and with a bad summer this year was the only time the kids have been able to paddle in a calm sea. The camp site felt laid back with a more `campy` feel than others which we like- ie people sitting outside. I caught the loos being cleaned and checked at 11pm! as well as the usual times. Loved our time here.

We came here as a a tester for our newly acquired second hand tourer. It was brilliant. The staff were so helpful and cycled us to our pitch then guided me in reversing onto it. Made me look like I was an old hand at it, I was well pleased with myself.
Man in next caravan even helped us erect the awning as we were complete novices.
The site was immaculate and silent after dark. Toilets clean as a whistle and showers free and warm.
We walked round the dog walk and along the beach to Croy shores. The weather was great. We came back along the shore and ended up in the castle grounds, we had a little something nice in the coffee shop then made a hasty retreat back to the caravan.
Beautiful area and beautiful site. Would definitely recommend it.

As one would expect the site is very well maintained and the facilities are immaculate. We experienced some midges, but the strong winds kept them away most of the time. Bring some repellent.
The tent pitches are in the middle of the site, unfortunately the pitches with the best sea views are reserved for hardstanding with EHU, but you can still get views between the units.
The site got slightly busier at the weekend, but there was still plenty or room; being a C&CC site, you are never packed in and there were plenty of washrooms and showers.
If you stay at the campsite you get reduced admission to the castle next door, we're not sure of the costs as we're National Trust members and got in for free. However, it is worth a visit, you could spend a full day visiting all the buildings and the extensive grounds.
The sea views are to the north west looking towards Arran with fantastic sunsets from the campsite but we wandered down next to the castle onto the beach which was deserted in the evening. Sunset was about 10.00 pm in June.
The drive along the coast road to Ayr is very scenic. Ayr is a nice town and worth a look. A large Tesco with petrol is out next to the racecourse. You could day trip to Glasgow from Ayr by train or bus very easily.
Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

On arrival the managers couldn't have been more helpful, booked in and met by gent on a bike, who asked us what pitch type we were looking for. Asked for electric, flat and perimeter and that was just what we got, with a fantastic view to boot! Our tent overlooked a sloping field down to the sea, with Arran in the background. Plenty of room to pitch and not too bound by guidelines, as my sister was coming with a little pop up for 1 night, and they said no problem anywhere near to you is fine !
Toilet and shower facilities immaculate and bins emptied every day. The little shop was basic, but had all the necessities including local eggs, bacon and sausages and fresh bread rolls. Great walk down to Culzean castle and gardens and entrance free on foot, but you would have to pay to get into the castle. Taking the car for a family would cost you £30, but if you're on camp it's £15 and that lasts your length of stay ( but at Culzean entrance they do not tell you that, so keep your reciept)
This site is one of the quietest we have stayed on (apart from the odd noise from the resident pheasants)
Maybole is approximately 3 miles away and has a chinese takeaway, somerfields and most general stores should you need them.
There are 2 downsides to this site, 1 is, there are only two washing up sinks, and no.2 is there are a lot of pitches which slope quite steeply. I think a lot depends on luck and how busy it is, but if we had had a different pitch ie. One sloping with no great view then it would have been a different story.
We would definitely return.

Firstly the facilities are very good, clean and well maintained. Enough to go round. And something I personally like, lots of lovely hot water!
The site staff are really superb and make you feel extremely welcome, they definitly want to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
Culzean castle is okay for the visit but don't be lead into thinking your're camping in sight of it or anything like that. You're not, its a hike through the woods away. And you can't see anything from the camp site in that direction only trees. Lots of em! There is a nice view over the bay to Arran to compensate.
You are camping in a sloping field thats arranged in terraces.
Pitch sites are good and even and the grass nicely cut. The ground gets hard for pegs after a few inches so take the mallet, nothing unusual about that.
Not far to fresh water or refuse and parking is by your pitch if you want it. Prices are reasonable.
Downside lots of dogs! Not sure at the level of local attractions in the area either. You best research that before you go.

Fantastic site. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, patient with children and generally pleasant.
The site itself is as well appointed as you'd expect from a C&C Club site. Lovely walks to the nearby Castle are great, bring the bikes!
Toilets and showers were immaculate, the shower cubicles roomy.
Highly recommended.

The best site in the world, if you have dogs or children go here. My father came form Troon and we used to visit this area as children and it's still amazing. The walk through the woods down to segganwell is wonderful, it's a spectacular place, sand, rock pools, scenery, this is my favourite place in all the world. Were back home in Peterborough today and yesterday we spent 3 hours walking around Culzean and didn't spend a penny (oh a word of warning ken's can of coke cost him a £1). But no entrance fee and you are just left alone, everyone's so friendly. We are planning next year already two weeks next time. Miss you Scotland.
