Friendly staff, nice clean facilities. Lovely woodland walks, stunning scenery. Culzean castle is well worth a visit and you can spend hours walking around the grounds admiring the flowers etc.

Nice play area for children but would suggest that you request a pitch away from this if you want some peace and quiet as it can be quite noisy in this area at times.

Souter Johnnies Inn nice food but if you like veg with your meal suggest you order them as a side dish!

A quiet site for the size with beautiful views & sunset over Arran. This is a typical club site in terms of toilet and shower facilities which were well kept although could've done with a sweep later in the day. The site seemed popular with young families. We only stayed one night, possibly not much to do locally if staying longer & no pub within walking distance. A convenient stop off point for the Arran ferry.

Just got back from this site and had to put a comment on. This site was excellent, toilet block always clean, and the fresh flowers are a lovely touch. The shop had the basics but was fairly priced. My kids liked the park and exploring the surrounding woods was an adventure every day for them. I was only supposed to be staying 2 days and ended up staying a week ! The wardens were very friendly and helpful. If you want a nice quiet site in gorgeous surroundings then you have to visit. The sunsets (if you get the weather !) are out of this world. Please note you are a few miles away from civilisation though. Will definitely be returning here.

I have stayed at this site on several occasions and would say it is my favourite site in this area.

The facilities are always clean and tidy, although the toilet block is an older block it is always clean and regularly painted and maintained. There are ample showers 4 in ladies and 4 in gents, dishwashing facilities and laundry area, there are even 2 Whirlies for drying your washing. I have even seen the wardens cleaning the toilets at 11 o'clock at night.

The security is excellent. There are 2 barrier gates one for exit and one for entry, both are kept shut at all times and you feel secure in the knowledge that the gates get locked at 11pm and are opened again at 7am. Any cars not recognised by the wardens on entry, and the wardens come over to check who they are visiting. We had this when we had someone come visit us and we were really impressed that the wardens had noticed the car our visitors had come in was not on a pitch on site. So very secure.

There is a small kids play area although our kids ages 14 & 11 have now outgrown it but they find plenty to do round the site. They visit the castle on their bikes or cycle along to the swan pond in the castle grounds or go for a wander down to the beach. They are never bored here.

There is a small shop on site selling milk, fresh bread rolls, local sausages and bacon, black pudding & eggs. Shop also sells a range of biscuits, tea, coffee, sweets for the kids and chocolate bars for the adults along with crisps, cans of juice and ice cream. So no worries if you forget something the site shop will have something to keep you going.

There is plenty to do visiting the castle and grounds can take a few days to cover the whole area, taking picnics at the swan pond or a trip to the beach.

Nearby is Maybole which has a Somerfield and is open to 10 at night so handy if arriving at campsite later on, Asda is in Girvan about 7 miles away not a huge asda but has everything you need and more.

I have had many a good weekend at this site and look forward to many more

Stayed at this site for two nights myself husband and our two dogs. Lovely site, we got a great welcome from the wardens. Facilities were spotless and there was a great dog walk through the woods

We visited the castle and grounds (we are National Trust members so no charge). Security was very good with a barrier both on entry and exit.

Would stay again.

We have just got back from this site and have had a wonderful time. The site was very well kept and the toilet block was always clean and tidy. There was a small play area for the children, but they still thought it was great. The views were fantastic and everyone was friendly. The castle and grounds were awesome with plenty to do and getting a ticket (half price with staying on the site) which lasted the whole week was worth every penny. The only downside as such was there was not a lot to do immediately outside the site, apart from the lovely beaches which were great for rock pooling, although they did tend to get quite a few flies about! The closest town did not have much going for it, but it was the start of the season so that might pick up a bit.

Have just come back from this site and it was a wonderful experience. Great location and views. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Toilet block was always spotless

Some pitches sloping but we had quite a flat pitch. Small swing park was well used by children but adequate for size of site. Didn't like the fact the children were playing ball games around the tents but this is one of the only downsides of the site.

Electric hook-ups are a bit of a distance from where tents are sited so take an EHU with a long cable

Small shop in reception selling basics like rolls, eggs and milk.

Regular bus services stop outside of the site (Believe buses go to Maybole, Ayr and Girvan)

Look forward to a return visit to the site

We visited this site as it looked good online. There is a steep slope on it, the worst playpark we have seen at any site, but mostly the price charged per night. Very expensive with nothing to show for it.

Culzean Castle did not recognise the camping tickets and was also very expensive to get into. This is one c & c c we will not be visiting again, not until the club spend some of their money refurbishing the site.

Having stayed on this site three times, the last time for three weeks in October. I would just like to reiterate what a lovely site this is. Ok the site facilities are basic and there isn't a large play area for the kids, but they are more than adequate, and not all of us want or need these facilities.
The site wardens Andy and Margaret were marvellous, we had two blow outs on our caravan on the way up from England, so ended up arriving on site on a low loader. Margaret and Andy helped us no end.(thanks again)

The views are stunning, walks are amazing, beaches are beautiful and the Scottish people so friendly. Still my favourite place in the world. Haste Ye Back

Very basic site with minimum facilities.(to describe two swings and a slide as an adventure playground is perhaps stretching the imagination).

We are not caravanning and camping members but to be charged £23 for one night in low season came as a bit of a shock to say the least especially with such few facilities available.

I also found the staff very dour and made to feel as if they were doing us a favour (going by previous post maybe they were just having an off day) but by far and away the most annoying thing is the fact that there is a gate which has to be opened each time you enter or leave the site at all times. This gate is situated on a very muddy at the time road which means getting out of your vehicle and stepping in to mud which you obviously carry back in on your shoes.

Over all I was very unimpressed by this site and there are other in the area which I found much better I will therefore definitely not be returning.
