We have just come back from our first camping trip and are planning on going back here again in a couple of weeks! The staff were very friendly and helpful, took us directly to our pitch and explained were all the amenities were to us. We took 2 children age four and six with us and we never seen them all weekend as they spent it on the big play field and park! Which was directly opposite the tents so you can see them but not to close to hear all the noise! Toilet and showers were always clean and presentable when we used them, plenty of hot water. I would certainly recommend this campsite to anyone who has children!

Very, very impressive! On bank holiday weekend this site was clearly full but never got dirty crowded or waterlogged (even after a flash flood!) The site is clearly very professionally run and the staff were helpful, showing you directly to your pitch. They kindly charged up my rechargeable lantern every day for free, sent a new bin over to our field within a short time of being asked, and provided a lovely setting for our weekend. The huge childrens playfield has great equipment and although the loos and showers were a bit of a traipse from where we were pitched it was worth it! Free hot water in the showers and free hairdryers (in the main block only) added to the value here. Would recommend this site to anyone.

Have just got back from St Helens and we had a really good trip, the staff where very friendly and you are shown to your pitch following a golf buggy, we had plenty of room between units and the pitches are flat, showers are really nice but dont like the key system to get in, as you only get one key, so if somebody is having a shower you have to wait to go to the toilets. There's a really good play area and plenty of room to play football, We had two really good days out on the bus which stops right outside the campsite, 1 to Scarborough and also to Pickering, which is really nice, there is a steam railway, a castle and a fun fishing lake at the trout farm near the railway as well. We also had a bike ride from the campsite up into Wykeham forest which was really good only saw 1 car in 2 and half hours. The pub is only about 5 min walk down a wooded path and the people running it are really welcoming and its children friendly, there's a pool table and the food its fantastic and very reasonable, I would definitely recommend it. We have decided we will go back next year, as there is still a lot we havent done in the area, but will do without EHU and stay in the tent field which was very pretty as we where the only trailertent/tent on the whole site and are not use to being surrounded by caravans even though everybody was really friendly, just didn't seem to have the same atmosphere.

As 1st time caravan owners, this Easter weekend was our first trip out. I struggled to book anywhere as every site we wanted to stay at was fully booked even back in February. Eventually I found St.Helens through this website & they had space. If St.Helens is typical of what we can expect on future expeditions then we will be very happy! On arrival we were made most welcomed & were quickly shown to our pitch by a very helpful warden. Being Easter the site was busy, but we still had space around us & didn't feel too boxed in. Our pitch was an all grass affair with electric hook-up. It was flat & was within easy reach of a shower & toilet block. The block was absolutely spotless despite a busy weekend. All credit to the cleaning staff. The newly installed water heaters for the block went on the blink on the Friday, resulting in a temporary lack of hot water. Within a few hours workmen had been on site & the problem was sorted. After that there was hot water a plenty. There is a small shop on site selling basic provisions along with a small take away/cafe. No bar or restaurant though, however there is a Pub/Hotel just down the road. Sadly the food there left a lot to be desired. The childrens play area was literally the size of a football pitch & had a good selection of swings, slides, balancing poles & the like. Our 2 & 5 year olds thought it was great. Scarborough is about 15 mins drive in one direction with Pickering a bit further in the other. It is a great base for exploring the East Coast, or doing Flamingo Land & the North Yorks Moors. If you want pools, bars, entertainment, etc., then it's not for you. However if you want a peaceful site with great facilities in a rural setting with a freindly & welcoming approach then you can't go wrong.

Good quiet site with shop, take away, laundrette and games room for the kids. Shower/Toilet blocks were spotless and showers free. There is a dog release area near reception and a smaller dog walk at the top of the site. The nearest pub is a short walk (literally 2 mins) through the woods, serves food and has a beer garden. The site is a good base for both Coast and Country with good access. Will certainly visit again without the pet pooch and make use of the pub.

On arrival, we were made very welcome by the Wardens of the site. Our pitch overlooked the Play Area in a HUGE field where there were no more than 10 tents on at any one time. The wardens were turning people away as they claimed they were full!
Even after 2 days of rain, this site never suffered from mud!! ALL the toilet blocks were spotless, (even after the rain!) and the wash cubicles in the ladies even had a "shower head" to wash your hair. They also provide hairdryers in the main toilet block by the reception. Having to use the Launderette (because of the weather!) we found the driers to be excellent value for money. 40p for 30 minutes and this had dried a sleeping bag and 4 towels!! The shop was basic but had everything we required. They offer breakfast from 8am (with bacon baps to die for!)
Movement around the campsite is restricted for vehicles between midnight and 6am, so we had no early morning wake-up calls from cars.
Altogether a very clean and spacious site, good value for money (£9.00 per night for a family tent, 2 adults and 2 children!) one which we will definitely return to again!!

July 2004 Lovely site with friendly staff. Nice and clean toilets, only problem was there was only one shower in the toilet block next to where we were pitched. Luckily it didn't seem to cause a problem as we never had to wait to get in the shower as people seemed to go at different times. Hot water is free. There is a laundrette on site, a cafe, shop and games room and a nice park for the children. Site is close to Scarborough and not far from Flamingo Land and Eden camp which we visited on our stay.
You need to have a £10 deposit when you first arrive to obtain a card for the barrier into the site and for a key for the toilet blocks but this is returned when you leave. Also girls dont bother taking a hair dryer or anything with you as the toilet block that we used did not have an electrical point and there was also no hair dryer to pay to use so make sure you take things to pin your hair up if you need to use equipment on it.
This was a great site and we would definately go back again.

May and June 2004 This is an excellent site with good, clean facilities. There are 4 toilet blocks which are spotlessly clean. Also free showers with plenty of hot water, good washing up facilities, good launderette and a small shop. There is also a childrens play area and football pitch. A caravan storage facility is offered. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Site about 6 miles from Scarborough. Have been going there for 7 years and always enjoyed it. Would recommend it to anyone.
