We visited on Spring bank holiday, and stayed on the playing field in our tent, along with another family. As the weekend progressed more and more tents arrived! They were packing in as many as physically possible, and the facilities just weren't up to the job. The toilet block nearest to us had only one shower, and was only cleaned once a day. By each evening the loos were revolting. There were only 3 washing up points in that block too, one of which wasn't working properly.

The ground was stony, but not usuable, and the spot we were pitched in was very sheltered. Probably a good site at a quieter time, but full of noisy rude kids and the shop was rubbish.

We stayed here for a few nights just after Christmas. We had originally booked another site but after various problems with the other site we came and stayed here. We arrived at 7pm and had to get the warden to book us in but he was very helpful. As we had 2 dogs the warden suggested we camp at the top of the tent field away from the caravans. There was a toilet block and washing up facilities in the tent field but as it was out of season all the water and electricity to these had been stopped.

The main facilities were very clean and there was plenty of hot water. I liked the idea of the private cubicle wash basins (in the female toilets - not sure what the male toilets were like) and there was a hairdryer in each cubicle.

We had to pay a refundable £10 deposit for the key to the toilets and gate barrier.

There were lots of rabbits on the site and the dogs loved watching them as well as the few deer that also visited!

All in all we would visit this site again.

We have just spent 3 nights at St Helens with another couple. The site was booked by our friends and having read the reviews we were a little worried, especially about the attitude of the staff.

I have to say that we had no problems at all! All of the staff were really friendly and one of them even helped me and my friend to put up our tents when he saw that we were having problems!

The facilities are excellent. There are plenty of showers and they are always hot as is the water for washing-up.

I would recommend this site to anyone. We had a brilliant time and will definitely return next year.

We happened upon this really nice site by chance and loved it. Yes its quite big and was very busy (bank holiday weekend) but really friendly helpful staff and nice and quiet in the evenings. Shower blocks clean and spacious with lots of hot water and far from crowded. Good location for coast and lovely countryside.

Lovely site set in a beautiful location. The tent field is easily large enough for 25+ large tents, with room for plenty of play space left over.
The only main drawback is that the field is overrun with rabbits and there are lots of holes around the main warren making it hard for kids to run around some of the area. Good park area for kids suitable from toddler to 11/12 yrs.  Shower and toilet facilities are clean and well maintained. Toddler bath facilities (in the ladies only though) are a welcome addition. Site is set back from the main road, although the traffic starts early and can be noisy if the road is wet. Easy to visit Scarborough from here, a 15 min drive to the park-and-ride scheme (40p adult 20p kids one way; free parking; bus every 10 min; 7am-7pm). Good laundry facilities, wifi, 2 internet p.C.'s, shop, cooked bacon butties etc. The caravan side of things looks nice, well spaced out and well maintained pitches. Nice friendly staff. Would I go back? - yes!

Me and my husband absolutely love this campsite.  I used to stay here with my parents when I was a lot younger and loved it then.  So, decided to visit again with my husband.

When we arrived, we went into reception, the warden was a great help and gave us a choice where we wanted to be, even though it was July.  He gave us an excellent spot, with water just next to us, just a short walk to the showers/toilets and washing up facilities.  He was extremely helpful and even said we could have somewhere else if we preferred.

The showers always had hot water in both Ladies and Gents.  The toilets and showers were clean and well looked after.  We didn't think much to the cafe, but you don't come camping to eat from the cafe.  It was only because we were being lazy.  Everyone was really friendly.  The pub is a very short walk away, a lovely pub to both sit inside and out of.

We had our dog with us, and he was very welcome.  There is a great walk for dogs.

All in all, a very impressive campsite.  We will most definitely be visiting again and very soon!

We got to site around 2pm and all was well until a friend informed me he was also coming to the site but was stuck in traffic so I went see manager he said "yes that's no problem but to go see the warden next to office when he arrived as office shuts at 7pm" Our friend got there at 7.10pm so as the manager said I went see warden he burst out his little log cabin saying" its not an emergency this isn't I'll do it this once but don't be making habit out of it" I replied "I spoke to the manager and he said its fine" The look on the wardens face was like it was going to explode. He didn't speak when friend went to pay didn't tell him where toilets or anything was and then slammed door. This really did put a dampener on what should have been a pleasant weekend away.

Facilities were OK apart from my partner says the top field ladies showers didn't get hot. The gents did thought, and she then used the main showers at the bottom of park. Cafe was OK but took about 20 Min's to cook bacon sandwich.

Now the good bits brilliant location for Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, RobinHhoods bay. Also go and see Goathland AKA Aidensfield (Heartbeat). Nice steam trains and a nice little cafe also there, a lovely pub you can walk to. Reasonable prices and about 5 min drive is the Dennison arms. You can get 32 ounce steak and get loads for what you pay but the downside is you have drive. I also found out about a couple who live there provide an awning service. For a small fee they will put you're awning up. We have left our tourer in storage at this site for £250 for the year.

We stayed at this site for 4 nights. I have to say I was very unhappy at the attitude of the wardens on this site. On arrival we were shown to our to our pitch I voiced my concerns at the distance to our closest hook up but the warden jumped back on to her buggy and was gone. As I feared our lead wouldn't reach so off I went to reception to see if a different pitch was available. The warden wouldnt check for a different pitch and told me I had ''mickey mouse equiptment'' and I could either buy a new cable from him for £26 or move on! a very nice couple on a seasonal pitch helped us out by lending us a lead-if it wasn't for them I would have gone home!

The site wasn't too bad although after such a bad start it was easy to find a lot of faults! There are plenty toilet and shower blocks. The showers had large cubicles but were always cold and worked on a push button system. Hair dryers are provided free of charge.

There is a shop and take away/cafe on site we only went once and although, according to the opening times, it should have been open, it was shut. There is a small play area which our 8yr old did enjoy.
We did have a problem with noisey teenagers at night-i went out several times to ask them to keep their noise down

We used an excellent fishing lake close by the staff there were fantastic giving our son a free fishing lesson which enabled him to catch 25 fish in 1 day!

The site is very easy to find-straight off the A170.

We have just returned from st Helen's after a weeks break, I have to admit the amenities are great, plenty of hot water and very clean, although lack of consideration meant that you had to mop the cubicles after other people before you could use them even though mops are provided.
We found that the caravans were far to close for comfort from the front right hand corner of our van to the left rear corner of the van in front of us was a grand total of 11ft is this acceptable I ask.  We had to park next to the fire point as it was the only place next to our caravan to park but this meant having to reverse our car to get out. Not ideal when there are children playing near by.
The day before we were due to leave we voiced our concerns on how we were going to get our caravan out to be told don't worry we will get it out for you, in the end we had to move the van 180 degrees before we could hitch it back on the car and leave the pitch.
After speaking to some of the seasonal caravan owners it would appear that most of the pitches have shrunk this year. It would appear that greed is taking over and safety is getting left out of the equation.
Overall I have to say we were disappointed.

Fantastic site, this is our second visit for the weekend and would like to stay longer, the staff are very friendly and the shower and toilet blocks are very clean, we stayed on the adults section of the park on the first visit and on the family park on the second visit as we went with friends who had children. We were very impressed with the way the staff keep control of people who play ball games around the caravans. the shop and cafe offer good quality meals at competitive prices and the local pub was excellent. There is an excellent dog walk area where you can let them off the lead for a run, there is also an excellent playground for children and a few animals too. We will definitely return to st Helens.
