Brilliant site. Facilities very clean and spotless. Cafe great with food cooked to order. Downe hotel, the food was excellent. Not sure we will be back, sadly, due to irresponsible owner of boxer dog which attacked our yorkie and then claimed it was 'just being friendly'! REALLY! Recommend even so!

What a fantastic site, we regularly use CC sites and this is the equal of their best sites. Spotlessly clean fantastic facilities, best dog walk we have ever seen and so close to so many things by foot, public transport or car.
Booking in was quick and easy, everything explained and shown to our pitch nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic serviced pitch close to reception so a little road noise from A170 but not much. Cafe and shop well stocked and toilets/showers sparkled.
Good walks to nearby villages and pub all on footpaths/quiet roads, quite busy but no noise, bags of space and a great play area. The dog walk is huge and had Llamas, sheep and pigs in adjacent fields. Not forgetting the donkeys.
Cheaper for a fully serviced pitch than West Ayton CC site was for a normal pitch so good value for us.
We will be back

We camped in a pod for 4 people. It was a bit tight will all kit in but if you get electrics it does come with lights and heating. The pod and the campsite is a spotlessly clean with the toilet/shower blocks excellent with free showers. We used the cafe on a couple of day for breakfast and it was always good value and good food. There is a local pub just a short walk from the campsite and this was kid friendly with good food. The is an excellent campsite and only a 10 min drive to Scarborough.

This is the 2nd time we have visited St Helen's this year. The site always looks full due to a lot of tourer vans which are there all year round as a static caravan.
As in June, it was a nice quiet week, even with the Pickering War Weekend being on the start of our holiday.
We chose an all service pitch, but really this is not necessary, the hard standings were just as good except for the waste water drain and tap.
You will need rock pegs if on a hard standing pitch, but there is also grass pitches to be had. It rained most of the time we were there but the pitch we had was well drained, friends of ours did get a little water collecting on their pitch at some point, but not too bad.
If you are a senior they also offer a weeks fee for £87.50 & £97.50 depending on when you go, the fully services pitches will be a little more than this but you still get a discount. They charge £2.70 per day for awnings which In think is a little dear, but when added to the discount fee you can go for just over £100 which is not too bad these days, the caravan club sites are more than this.
There is a section for adults only, but these are nr reception and nearer to the A170 main through road from Pickering to Scarborough so you will get road noise at peak times, that's why we like to go to the back of the site further away from the road.
The showers blocks are very clean, there is free hot water, and 1 free hair dryer in cubicle 1 of 2 in the block near us, plenty of sinks and toilets. There is at least 3 toilet/shower blocks around the site, and cleaned every day.
There is also a small café on site but at this time of year closes in early November.
There is a large play area for children with 2 climbing frames and a large grass area for ball games etc.
There is a lovely dog walk, along the way you pass Alpaca's, Sheep, Pigs, & Donkeys, great for the children to see. The dog walk leads you into the small village of Hutton Buscel, but there is no shops, pubs etc there but a nice place just to wander around.
We caught the bus from Hutton Buscel to go to Scarborough & another day to Helmsley, but we found out later there is a bus stop outside the park on the A170 itself.
We really like this site, especially the pitch we had on our last visit as it was clearly marked out from the one next door with a small hedge to separate. The grass pitches are just a number plate on the grass, would be better if these too were clearly marked out, this is just my personal opinion, so that your neighbours know where their pitch ends and yours start.
Would I go back again, yes I would, what's not to like, you are so handy for Scarborough, Whitby, the North Yorks Moors and many more lovely places of interest, roll on 2014, we will be back.

In the last 24 years we have toured the length and breadth of the British Isles, this is the best site of the lot. Spotlessly clean, staff always willing to go the extra mile. It's a busy site, but bags of space, especially on the adult only part. Animal friendly a fantastic dog walk! with donkey's pigs llamas, to visit on the walk. Wonderful showers you just walk in and press a button, the laundrette is in tip top condition, nice little shop and cafe, you will never be bored here and I'm sure you will return as we have done many times. Please visit. Julie H. U

Stayed for 10 nights between 15/25-08-13. The site was full and we got one of the last remaining pitches. The check in was slick and easy and because we had stayed several times before we were not given any information although the guy on reception did ask. When we found our pitch it was in between two existing rows of units just behind one of the toilet blocks, as a result we did feel a bit cramped especially at the weekend. Although many of the touring vans were not occupied and it is clear that many people just leave their vans on site during the season. This meant although we did feel hemmed in it was not really all that busy.
The toilet facilities are a little dated but they were spotlessly clean and the shower cubicle are large with endless hot water. There is an excellent dog walk by the fields which contain alpaca's, donkeys and black pigs, which our grandchildren loved. There is also an excellent park area which again they loved. It is a pity that the indoor games room has been closed as the kids would have somewhere they could go if the weather is inclement.
St Helens is an excellent park, in a great position 6 miles from the coast outside Scarborough and close to Thornton le Dale and Pickering which are great to stroll around.

Just visited for 3 nights. Upon arrival found staff to be very friendly and helpful and shown to pitch. We had a superpitch and was under the impression that some were families and some were adult only but were informed they were now all adult only, this isn't something we have been on before as this is the first time our son didn't want to come away with us and will not be looking for adult only again a bit too quiet for us.
Although we didn't need it the children's play area looked really good and toilet block were really good and clean, café good with very well kept grounds.
We apparently broke a rule and used our rotary clothes airer behind the caravan and was instructed to take it down as apparently the lady of the manor thinks they look disgusting and she hates them, These were the words used by the member of staff, I thought this was a bit much as we were trying to dry two towels after having a shower This is the reason we will not return as bit too strict with rules, I took it down although was not happy about it.
Area is really nice, local pub is dennison arms which we went in then came straight back out as we thought this was a filthy place that stunk a bit and was looking for a meal and sorry but I prefer a place that makes a bit of effort if they want my money but there is an excellent take away chippy nearby.
Overall a really nice clean well run site but we wont return as we found atmosphere a bit stuffy and there are plenty of good sites in this area.

Lovely site convenient for visiting Scarborough, Filey and Whitby. Also near to Dalby Forest, Goathland, Pickering, Hole of Horcum and too many other interesting places to mention. We ended up extending our stay for several days because there was so much to do! Our dog loved the dog-walking area adjacent to the site, plenty of room for him to run about and explore. Not just a five minute walk this one, more half an hour at least! Facilities kept clean and tidy at all times, staff very helpful and friendly. Little café on-site handy and food from there very nice. Sunday lunch saved for us until we got back from cycling in Dalby Forest, a nice touch. Large playground for children, plenty of leaflets in Information hut if you need ideas on what to do. Some road noise can be heard, especially at busy times if you are pitched in Adults only area, not sure if it is as loud further back on site. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and could have quite happily stayed even longer!

Stayed 4 nights over the new year period. Despite the wet weather we had a great time on this site. On arrival we were given a warm welcome by the warden and his sons. After been shown to our pitch they offered to help us if we needed it. We stayed on a super pitch which had free wi fi and a 16 amp hook up.
We were close to reception & toilets/showers, which were immaculate whatever time of day we visited. Plenty of hot water in the large showers. The free use of hairdyers was a nice touch. Launderette with iron/ironing board next door to toilets. Due to the time of year, the site was pretty quiet but we walked around it and it really is lovely. The dog walk is super with the sheep etc not bothered at all by the dog.
There's a pub a few minutes walk from the site entrance and a good spar/garage 2 miles away. The warden and his family are so friendly and really go out of their way for you if you need their help. Really nice people. Overall it is a large well kept site & well situated for Scarborough and we will definitely return

Deciding on a break after the excesses of the Christmas holiday, we set off for St Helens after boxing day. A warm welcome awaited and there was a choice of pitches - all hard standing. The toilet block is maintained to a particularly high standard and the laundry facility was much appreciated. Nothing was too much trouble for the wardens. The site is convenient for the coast so Scarborough and Filey are within easy reach. An enjoyable stay which we hope to repeat this coming season.
