We passed the entrance to this site while staying in the area. We requested a brochure and went for 5 nights last week and stayed 7!
It's a large site, but divided into paddocks which give a great secluded feel. We stayed on a super pitch which was excellent. Our 2 berth tourer and porch awning looked even smaller than they were!
Toilets and free showers were spotless and the cleaning times were well published, other sites please note.
There was a small shop with a cafe that did take away food. We never tried this service as the opening times were limited as it was close to the end of season.
There was a games room, which again we never tried, but it is a good addition for inclement weather.
The site has three resident wardens and a good barrier system, so security is top grade.
The whole site is very well kept. Lots of landscaping and flower beds.
Whitby was 26 miles away and Scarborough 6. A decent pub was adjacent but very quiet on the one day we visited.
We stayed in the adult paddock. My children are all grown now, and although I like to see kids having fun, it's also nice to get away from them too!
Lots of wildlife, including pigs and alpacas. The pigs must be friendly as there was hand washing equipment fixed to the fence!
We will definitely be staying again, weather permitting at Christmas, but as regular visitors to Oswalds Mount, next year too.

Fantastic site, set in beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed a long weekend in late July and was so impressed we booked for another week as soon as we got home. Wardens were happy to help us when we arrived about 7. 30pm.
All the staff are friendly, helpful and courteous. The residents who have seasonal pitches are lovely and again very friendly and welcoming - especially to novice caravanners like us (thank you to Vera for the cups - which I forgot to pack).
Although we do not have a dog we took advantage of waling with our 3 yr old daughter around the site to see the animals and wear her out before bedtime. Our friends came up to visit us whilst there and although not usually keen on camping they said they would happily camp at St Helen's, as it is so lovely and peaceful and a stones throw from Scarborough, Dalby Forest, Robin Hood's Bay etc.
Clean shower and toilet facilities are the most important aspect of any campsite, and these did not disappoint. Cleaned daily and kept clean by all residents too.
We would highly recommend this site to anyone. Can't wait for our 3rd visit there.

Wonderful site, staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean toilet and shower blocks, staggered cleaning times so one is always open, lashings of hot water. Very big dog walk, has pens with sheep, pigs, and alpacas on the inside of the walk, dogs don't bother them at all!
Children's play area, the activity hut has shut down which disappointed the children in our group. Wifi on site but signal was none existent near adult only area, aerial is situated on top of toilet block but is not high enough to send out signal in to the lower areas of the site.
The site is well situated, for visiting whitby, Filey Bridlington Scarborough.
Looking forward to a return visit next year.

Brilliant! Just got back from a week at this site today, had a great time with my 7yr old daughter and dog.
Play area according to my to my little one was the best especially the zip wire.
According to my dog the dog field was also great lol.
As a single lady on her 1st year of touring the staff when I first got to site where very helpful, when I booked I requested a site over looking the play area and it was perfect( not giving the number sorry) I will be needing it again.
I could watch my daughter play with her new friends with a glass of wine in 1 hand and my kindle in the other very comfortably.
The dog walk was great you can let the dogs off there leads to have a good run before you head to a great dog friendly beach in filey which is only 20 mins away.
The site gets full but you still have plenty of space between vans but book early I think it will get full quickly.
Highly recommended.

We have only been caravanning since last October. We decided to store our caravan at St Helens.
We have just come back from a wet but very enjoyable Easter break.
I would like to congratulate the staff there on a sterling job in keeping the site in an immaculate manor, even though the site was at its capacity and very busy.
All of the shower blocks remained spotless, clean and well equipped.
The cafe has just been taken over by new management. The full english breakfasts are great value for money and the home-made cakes are to die for.
Once again I cant say enough about the staff. They seem to go that extra mile when you need help and always have a smile for you in passing.
We were going to tour our caravan from St Helens camp, but I am extremely happy with the set up here so why move? The location is central to all major east coastal resorts plus the added bonus of being close to Dalby forest and also the North Yorkshire moors.
Cant wait to go back in the May bank holiday when hopefully, fingers crossed the weather will be a little more kind to us.

My family has just visited St Helens Caravan Park and found it to be delightful. Arrived quite late on Friday 26th August and the wardens opened up the office and then showed us to our pitch. All very friendly and helpful. Facilities were excellent. Constant hot water for washing up and showering. Shower Rooms and toilets were spotless. My daughter brought her dog and was in awe of the large dog walking area as I was too. A dog heaven.
A group of campers got very loud and rowdy but the wardens came down and dealt with it straight away. The next day everyone in the vicinity was given a free weekend to compensate. A lovely gesture. We did not use the children's area but it looked great with lots of climbing frames etc.
If I had to make one negative comment it would be that the tent area we were in could have done with some lighting as it was quite dark to walk to the toilet block but this did not stop us from having a great weekend. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone.

*Would definitely return*
I phone booked 4 nights at this site. (ended up staying for 5)I was asked on booking if I would prefer a pitch on the play field or on the quieter field. I opted for the play field as the 4 kids are 11 13 14 15.
The site wardens showed us to our spacious pitch located at the bottom of a large dedicated camping field which also contained a great playground for both little uns and bigger kids. Loads of space for ball games etc and the tents themselves are all lined up on the far side (about 12 pitches)with a couple of camping cabins which looked brand new.
The field is well drained, completely level with slightly sandy soil(no problem for tent pegs)and sheltered. We had rain over two nights but no muddy conditions. Grass is kept short. At least 2 water taps on this field - we were next to one and put our wind break up to give us privacy.
One way systems in place for driving and a security pass is required for a £10 deposit to get through barrier. Roads on site are either tarmaced or gravelled.
No electric hook ups for campers - but we don't use these when camping. 25p per ice block for our chilly bin at the shop is all we need.
Toilet and shower blocks all on touring areas. Kept super clean and well maintained. Free hot water. Shower blocks closed for 1 1/2 hours after 11. 30 am but these times seem staggered so there is always a shower somewhere to use. The toilet block nearest our field has one shower and also has a covered pot scrub area lit at night.
No lighting on tent field so you can take full advantage of star gazing opportunities.
Teens reported being disappointed with games hut - but as I did not enter I can not comment.
Did not use cafe but lady there always busy preparing food.
There is also a laundry room with dryers and irons.
There is another quiet camping field. Daddy bear reported this seemed isolated from everything so this would suit those seeking kids free camping.
From a campers view point what I liked most about this site was that the camping area felt like it was not an after thought like so many mixed sites and it was completely separate from the tourers so no tv noise at night or that intimidating feeling you get when camped next to tourers. Even the teens said it was great to get away from tv! best comment of all!
LOCAL AREA
10 minutes from Scarborough for great fish and chips. Whitby another great trip but avoid visiting on Saturday in Folk Week as we did - town sooo crowded. But great parking (£4 for 6 hrs) up by Abbey then you walk down steps into town. Filey 1/2 hr away. Greatest discoveries were Sandsend beach and Runswick Bay (1:25 access) both north of Whitby for evening BBQs.
Walked up Roseberry Topping but good drive from campsite. Ravenscar also great for coast walks.

Had two great nights at at this very nice site inland of Scarborough just off the A170 to Pickering road. St Helens has three shower and toilet blocks of a good standard and very clean with the newest block being heated.
The pitches were fairly level and easy to peg into, no hookups for tents but the rest of the park was fully wired.
We enjoyed the very large dog walk past fields with Alpacas and Sheep.
Only negative points are nothing to do with St Helens- not much in the village and the nearby pub was very expensive.

This is a great site, really well situated for filey, scarborough, not too far from Whitby and Bridlington. Lovely little villages nearby on the Pickering Road, such as Thornton le Dale. Dalby Forest for walking and cycling. The site has very large clean shower blocks with free hot water, small shop and cafe, laundrette etc. Has the best play area I have ever seen in a caravan site, including a zip wire etc and lots of space for children to play. Wardens are very friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble. Lovely pub/hotel very near and other pubs in West Ayton that also do very good food. Highly recommended. We have left our caravan in storage for the year which is also very reasonable compared to other sites in the area. Only negative at all prices per night are a bit on the high side, but I suppose you get what you pay for.

Went for 7 days stayed for 9! that says it all the camp site is the cleanest I've ever been to with very helpful staff.
Tent pitches are large and marked so bags of room. Water available on tent fields.
Toilet & shower blocks plentiful and very very clean.
Great play area for the kids and for dog owners a massive well looked after dog walk.
Small cafe/shop not too well stocked but good non the less you can order a daily paper.
Small farmers market in pub car park on Friday mornings from 8 (just outside camp)
Pub just outside is friendly and dogs are allowed in bar, Food is good there but don't go there if you are hungry as you don't get much for your money (example I ordered scampi and chips. 7 bits of scampi and 12 chips £8. 95 but it did taste good!)
Great little information booth on the site with loads of leaflets about local attractions and takeaways also good book/game swap facility.
Small video game/pool room cabin on site 50p / game open 9 til 9.
Great place to go very very friendly and amazingly clean will be going back as it is also well sited near York, Bridlington, Filey, Scarbourgh, Whitby (not that I would recommend Whitby expensive parking and very very crowded)
Would highly recommend this site to everyone
St Helens is great and we will be going back.
