This is an absolutely excellent campsite highly recommended for anyone. Brilliant facilities, easy reach of Richmond and what more can I say other than 10/10. There is well stocked shop, a great park for the kids to play in. Ours were in there all the time and because of the way the tent pitches are situated you can keep an eye of them at all times. The owners are really friendly and most helpful and the pitches are flat and spacious.

Our second visit to this site (see earlier review.) Site now under new management for this season. Again an excellent stay and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had a group of 7 families staying together on the site and we all had an excellent time. On the down side the Take away ran out of food and was forced to close early on the Friday night. On the plus see below and now they show you where to pitch which is a great improvement on the previous year. Looking forward to going back again next year if time allows.

Just come home excellent weekend kids loved it! Great campsite, clean & tidy. I have three children aged 1, 2 and seven years and they loved it, we went down to the river with a dingy and the kids had a great time. Would recommend this site.

We spent a great weekend here. The site is excellent. There is the added bonus of the river flowing alongside which all our children loved. We took a dingy which was fun. The owners were fabulous allowing us to put our tents where we wanted so our group of 4 families could be close. I don't think I can add anymore to the already glowing reports on this site as its all been said. Just go and see for yourself you wont be disappointed.

Just got back from a 2 night break and I have to say that we were disappointed with the camp site. Having read excellent reviews on here, we were looking forward to a campsite with brilliant facilities but it was not to be. When you have to pay a deposit for a toilet / shower block key, you would expect a "modern" "immaculate" toilet and shower block.WRONG! The toilets (although there were plenty of them) were dirty, smelly and full of mud. The showers ( all 2 of them) were cold, dirty and wouldn't look out of place in the 70's. This is a large site but the toilet block and waste disposal / water tap were placed at each end of the site meaning a hike to get to one or the other. The spacing given to tourers was shocking! We could hear everything going on either side of us! Playground was very basic and once the kids had swung on the tyre a few times, were bored! The good things about this site was the location and the take away (although again, this wasn't open on the Sunday morning for bacon sarnies as mentioned on another review but could have been too early in the season) At the end of the day, this (so far) has been the most expensive place we have stayed at and were really looking forward to a brilliant break but we were most disappointed with the majority of things.

I would highly recommend this site for a visit to Richmond. It is beautifully clean and well kept. I have a personal preference for smaller sites, as I am a single parent and wish to allow my young son some freedom whilst feeling quite sure of his safety. The playground is fenced in and situated by the shop and on the same field as the tent area so I could allow my son to run freely. There is the river which runs alongside the camp but it is a shallow part and allows some fun if you happen to take a dinghy!
This site is fairly small and open, with the tent area being on one side and the caravans on another. The site focuses on the family break but welcomes other parties, mindfully ensuring that the ones who go to party should do so but respect that there are also families holidaying. The shop is excellent and the takeaway very nice. Toilets excellent and the showers were brilliantly hot and soothing! There is chance of some lovely walks alongside the farm land and the river. Very pretty place set back off the road- will go again as soon as I can.

July 2005 We visited this site for one night to 'try out' our new tent.
The site is in an excellent location in swale dale in the middle of the scotch corner / richmond / catterick triangle. Situated on the river swale.
The site has excellent all round facilities. The childresn play park is varied and large, the shop well stocked and the take away .... heaven... mmm chips at 10.30 pm siting outside the tent!
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
We had an excellent time and the 'try out' a success.
The plus's Excellent childrens area Exellent Dish washing facilities Eccellent showers Friendly Staff The Take Away Brillient Location
Negatives We had to find our own pitch in the busy tent field.
Would we go back .... yes we plan to go back next year for a long weekend.

July 2005 nice pleasant site albeit very busy with quite a few kids running around, toilets were spotless. Staff were quite pleasant. Bad points a takeaway that closes at 7pm on a saturday night and doesnt open for breakfast until 9.30 on a Sunday no use at all if you are late arriving and early leaving, also shop prices were on the high side.

July 2005 We visited this site by accident. We weren't supposed to be going to Richmond but we're glad we did. The site is on a good sized area, espceially for tents - wouldn't fancy being on the hard standing for the tourers, bit too close together. The river is a great attraction, the walks are good and the toilets and showers are good. Most of all the atmosphere is relaxed, especially on a night. There are a few who stay up late but respect others are asleep. Anyone heading up north after their stay should stop off at The George at Piercebridge for lunch - best beer garden in the UK, seriously!

September 2004 An excellent site. We pitched next to a relative in a caravan, next to the river. The river is a superb source of entertainment for kids, our youngest and her cousin spent hours fishing with a net for tiddlers and caught a fair few. Beware of the river though, it is fast flowing and whilst beautiful to watch, could be dangerous if you fell in! The shop is OK and Richmond is about a half hour walk away. There is a little post office in Brompton, they sell the fishing nets, the best £.085 I've ever spent! Owners are pleasant and the feel of the site is very laid back. Not really sure what the 'teenager' rule is about, but doesn't affect us just yet. All in all, can't wait to go back.
