First time camping and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The warden met us and told us where to go etc. Toilet and shower blocks were nice and clean. Pitches were nice and level. However the uk weather let us down, it rained and was windy but we stuck it out. Will be visiting again.

Lovely clean and tidy site that is just a few miles off the A1, easy to find. Small park, but kids were happy with it. There's a river running along side the site which kids loved to play in, was a bit cold if you ask me. Shop and takeaway on the site which is ideal if you arrive late and cant be bothered to cook, nice too. Small village nearby which has some pubs and shops, but we never went there. Two large caravan shops nearby too, just incase you forget anything or just want too browse. Also on a sunday there a market on at Catterick Raceground, which is OK. Staff were very helpful and friendly showing you too your pitch helping unhook etc. Only downside was when we arrived we found out they had double booked and someone was in in our pitches we wanted, near the park, and they had to put us somewhere else. They let us stay all day Sunday because of that, normally kicked off at 12. Apparantly they have just sacked some wardens because they have been hopless and double booked loads of people, so should be sorted now. We will definitly go back again next year!

The owners at Brompton on Swale couldn't do enough for me. This was the best site on the tour. I turned up cold and totally exhausted, but they took me in and even reopened the site shop to let me get some much needed food! This site also has a small chippie which opens for breakfast as well.
A £5 deposit for the toilet block key was reasonable, especially as I nearly lost it in the first half an hour! I was given a fair amount of freedom as to where and how I pitched, even on a busy site on a bank holiday weekend, and I was allowed to spend a second day there without any second thoughts.
The bins were regularly emptied and replenished with new bags several times each day, certainly sufficient with the business the bins were receiving from the other campers.
Although they didn't have my camping gas in stock (the CV270 or 470 small bottles), it is very difficult to criticise the site or its owners and family, although I think their big cat did give me a pet flea, which I found next morning!
Highly recommended.

Lovely site, set on the River Swale which the children were always playing in. The pitches were a decent enough size. Toilet block was close enough and were very clean with 3 great showers (free). You must remember to take the key to enter the toilets! No power points for hairdryer etc. but there is one you can use for 20p. Washing up area next to toilet block but were only 3 sinks, of which one had no hot water. Small shop on site, we didn't use this so can't comment. Takeaway does good pizzas. There's a playground for the kids which you can easily see from the tent area. Richmond is only 2 miles away with lots of nice pubs and places to eat. The only down side of the weekend was the weather and the dog next door which constantly barked!

Just returned from a weekend at this site, we have been a few times before and I have to say we are never disappointed. The staff are very friendly, when you arrive they take you to your site and help you position your van. The toilets are always clean with plenty of hot water in the showers. There is a dog walk just off site and plenty of other walks nearby into Richmond. All in all a very nice site which would certainly go back to.

Stayed at this campsite a couple of times and always found it a great place to camp.
Shower blocks always very clean even back in June when we has all that terrible rain.
Small shop on site which sells most of your basics.
Fantastic takeaway on site with delicious pizza well recommended.
Lovely walk into Richmond town, will be visiting this site again.

Having never visited this area before, we visited this site for the first time during Whit week. I provisionally booked just the weekend which left the option of moving on or staying depending on how we felt. I was glad we did, although we had an excellent pitch right alongside the river, it was where the the grassed area got wider and provided what the campers thought was an ideal football practise area (they mix campers and vans in the wider area). We were touring the surrounding area most of the time, which was fantastic but unfortunately I don't care for heavy leather footballs hit with force against my van. The staff on duty said nothing to the teenagers involved, although I did. Had I stayed longer I may well have been in bother. It spoilt what I thought was a site with great things going for it, well kept, great walks around local lakes, local pubs and fantastic scenery.

Just returned home from here today and this site and staff are brilliant. Very helpful and friendly with great facilities. Lots of room for the kids to play and the play area is great. The shop has most things you may need. The takeaway is a must as their pizza's are wonderful. The toilets and showers are spotless and staff are walking round the site all day till late at night making sure everything is okay. This is the first time i've been camping and it took my wife 2 years to talk me into it. My kids also loved it aged 2 & 7 years. On leaving i've booked again for 3 weeks time as i'm sold on camping and looking now to buy a new bigger tent.

What a fantastic site ! Toilet and shower blocks all done out, smell of fresh paint still strong. We went for four nights over Easter when site was really busy but there was still plenty of room. Pitches nice size. River running through was lovely and the walks down the side were really nice. Ideal for dogs as well. Site owners were lovely and helpful. Would definitely recomend and will be going again. Don't get a curry from Tandoori nights. Waste of money and doesn't taste very nice at all.

I have just returned from my second visit to the park this year. As before my family and I have had a excellent week at Brompton Caravan Park. In the previous review it says that you can't use you own hairdryers / straighteners etc. In the toilet block we used, there were facilities which allowed you to do that. A really well kept and clean campsite with a wonderful atmosphere. I do agree with the review where it says that the staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots for children to do. The takeaway was great - wonderful pizzas and breakfast to die for! Also an excellent well stocked shop with lots of chilled bottles of wine to go with your BBQ! Definitely somewhere to return. I would recommend the campsite to anyone.
