A disappointing site! We stayed for one night which cost £25. 00 for 2 adults, 2 dogs and elec. It was hard to justify the cost to be honest. There were rows and rows of vans parked in regimental lines, most of which were empty.
The river running through the site was very fast flowing and I would not let my dogs in there, let alone a child. The dog walk area which we were told we could let our dogs run off lead in wasn't secure, with gaps and holes in the fence.
Considering it bordered a very busy road and the charge to pitch I would have expected this to be fully secure or at the very least they should have warned me it was not secure. Fortunately we bumped into a fellow dog-owner who told us where we could take them, which was behind a corn field opp the site.
Our pitch was near a water point so was used as a short cut. On the flip-side, reception were very friendly and we were shown to our pitch, the site is very clean and the large grassed areas very well maintained.

We came to stay on the site in July 2011. On arrival the staff were very friendly and we were shown to our pitch.
The site was very clean and toilet block was in good clean working order as well.
We were pitched right next to the river which was nice and kids played in the play park which could of done with a face lift but was ok.
Like the fact it had a take away on site which we found very handy.
The only down side was when I took my children to the on site shop the girl in the shop was very rude to my children
Apart from that enjoyed our short stay.

First time on this site and was not disappointed. Nice even pitch near the River, play area for children and the River is an immediate attraction. Wardens very helpful.
The take away is average but the prices are expensive, you are better off travelling into Richmond.
The toilets and showers are clean but we did feel having to take a key everywhere with us to get into them a bit of a nuisance, we felt a code would be a lot better.
When you arrive don't forget to have a spare £20 with you for deposit which you obviously get back on departure.
If you are there over the weekend the market in Richmond is well worth a look for good home made produce and if you fancy a treat the ice cream in the station is fabulous.

Firstly, the staff were very friendly, and the set up seems very professional.
However this appears to be a money making enterprise. The prices are high to start with, and what you get is the minimum 6 metre pitch to comply with fire regs, so that every available scrap of ground is used. It was very busy and the overall impression I got was of a battery hen farm with the punters jammed in as close as regs allow.
There are no real views as such, and the best you'll probably see is the side of someone else's tent, caravan, and car.
Vehicular entry to the site is controlled by a pass fob, deposit required. This felt unusual. Keys to the toilets and showers were again issues upon deposit. This was I think to stop the kids using the loos as a place to hang out and mess about. It didn't work.
What finished me off with this site is that I left a couple of bottles of wine hidden amongst rocks in the river to cool while we went for a walk. An hour later I found their smashed remains on the rocks by the water.
Not a nice place to stay for the reasons outlined.

We stayed at this site on the way home from visiting relatives. Still a bit of an adventure for our two young boys (3 & 5)!
Lucky to get a pitch as we only booked on Saturday afternoon to stay Sunday night on the Bank Holiday weekend. On arrival we could see why it was so popular. Very friendly set up starting with reception and the guy who showed us to the pitch.
We didn't have the intention of doing much, but had a wander round the site and were impressed by the cleanliness. Toilets & shower block were ideal.
Took a trip to Richmond (only 2 miles away) which seemed nice for a short visit. To make things easy we used the on site takeaway service and were pleasantly surprised by the quality.
The park and play area was OK (not overrun by unruly children) and the atmosphere was friendly. The park has a list of rules (to make it fair for all) and couldn't disagree with any of them.
Only minor gripe we had was the caravan owners next door who seemed to think 'getting away from it all' meant watch Louis Theroux very loudly at 9.30 at night! Never mind - it did quieten down at 10.30 as per the rules and certainly not the owners fault.
Check out (and all important deposit refund) was quick and painless. All in all, an excellent site with great transport links (A1) but feels a million miles from anywhere.

Upon arrival we were greeted by very a friendly receptionist, and quickly taken to our pitch. We had booked a pitch overlooking the river but due to wet conditions we were kindly given a hardstanding pitch that was vacant. Site was very clean and tidy, toilets a little dated but spotlessly clean, A well stocked little shop. Takeaway shop only open at weekends so cannot comment on. There were not many tourers even though it was school holidays, think this was due to the English weather!and that the site closed end of month. A lovely walk along the fields and what was an old railway line into Richmond and when you come to the end you walk straight into the old station which has a couple of bread and pickle shops and lovely Tea room (fruit scones are huge!) also a mini art gallery! Then a lovely walk up the hill to the market place.
If you go down a side street on the right hand side of the square passed the golden lion(I think)go for a hundred yards to the roundabout then turn to your left and you come to a pub called the Turf which does Excellent bar meals at very reasonable prices and very well presented(hot chocolate fudge cake yummy!) Due to a sudden change of hospital appointment for my husband they kindly gave us a refund for our last evening. All in all a very nice and friendly site and we will return next year.

Upon arrival at the site we were met by friendly staff who showed us to our pitch even helping to straighten the van. The site is very clean and tidy with good walks for the dog, we will be going back to this site next year.
Only bad points of note are the Grey water disposal is at the side of the road no great drama there though, the chemical waste disposal could do with a make over.
But with this in mind it will not stop us going again next year. Henry the parrot is a legend and hope he is there when other people visit he amused the family for hours

Everything was well organised and the owners were very friendly, we were shown to a pitch right near the river which was beautiful.
The site had a take away,a small shop and a small games room with pool table.
There was plenty of showers and toilets which were clean but a bit dated as was the washing up area.
At the far side of the site there was a path for walkers and cyclists which took you right into Richmond where you can find plenty of shops and pubs or just enjoy the town.
We spent two nights at Brompton and will definitely go again.

Let's get the bad points out of the way first then I'll tell you why we'll go back to Brompton.
Firstly, the pitches are very narrow - literally car, tent, car, tent, etc. Our poles were longer than the pitch was wide so would've been awkward erecting the tent if the neighbouring pitch wasn't empty.
Secondly, no EHUs for tents. No problem for us as we're equipped but could be a problem for some.
Other than that it's a great site. The staff are talkative without being intrusive and are very helpful. We were shown to our pitch, had the layout explained and then were left to our own devices.
Very clean site - big bin area near toilet block but also bins scattered around site which were emptied regularly.
Free, hot showers (£10 deposit for shower block/entry barrier key). Push button type and could have stayed on longer but no worse than usual leisure centre types. Block was clean and warm.
4 covered sinks with plenty of hot water.
Kids loved this site - good playground, games room with 2 pool tables and arcade games. Loads of other kids for them to play with so hardly saw them! River would have been a hit if it hadn't have rained so much - kids could've paddled but it was running too fast. Great for fishing though apparently!
Site shop stocks the (very) basics at very reasonable prices. Takeaway open morning and evenings doing bacon sandwiches, burgers, etc (didn't try it though).
Overall a lovely site. Not the most peaceful due to number of kids but this suited us. We didn't leave the site all weekend and kids are already asking to go back!
Can get very busy though, particularly in school holidays - booking is advisable.

If you have kids this sight is an oasis of a campsite - good sized playground - river nearby and loads of kids to mix with - games room with arcade games, fruit machines and 2 full size pool tables - toilets and showers are very clean and well maintained - waste disposal and bins all together near the toilets - the bins were always full and the waste area needs updating as a little grotty - but this would be harsh if you based the rest of the campsite on this one thing - the staff are very friendly and helpful - a couple of idiots caused him grief near us - drunk basically - the campsite does operate a strict policy of kids in tents or caravans by dusk and no noise at midnight which is well observed and kept in check by the manager - unfortunately these idiots spoilt it for everyone and the police were called - do not let this put you off the manager could not apologise enough - it wasn't his fault - some people are born ignorant - apart from that I would readily recommend that you try this site - really worth a look
