July 2004 We spent a wonderful week here with good weather. Lots of walks from the site we walked into Richmond and came back via a local ruined priory. walked along the riverbank a few times and also played skimming stones along with other adults!!
Good pubs nearby with good food but not good walking back at night as no footpath.
Site and facilities excellent and clean, showers always hot. Shop good, chips fantastic!!
Lots of friendly folk chatting, barbequeing, drinking and generally taking an interest in their neighbours.
Kids all seemed to be enjoying themselves.

25-28 July 2004 As a first time visitors (all the way from Wales) to this excellent campsite. My wife and I would like to say how very friendly and well organised we found Brompton. Courtious staff and a very well maintained campsite that will definately have us coming back again in the future.
Thank you for a wonderful and relaxing few days.

June 2004 First outing with 6 berth caravan and 4 children. Staff were very helpful. Campsite was really busy so children had plenty of new friends to play with.
Shop limited in supplies but there is a co-op store in nearby Richmond.
Our children love the river where they plodge in their wellies collecting pebbles and fishing. Showers free and lovely and warm. Toilets ok.

JULY 2003 The site was great. The owners were very friendly, the toilets were very clean, the shop was reasonably stocked with your usual things. The pitch we had was pretty close to the river and it kept my kids (7,9) occupied for hours and the hubby loved it as well as he’s into canoeing. There is a playground but the kids prefered the river. The gate had a security barrier which u needed a swipe card for. We will be returning for another visit for sure.

August 03 Great site, free hot water/showers etc. Well looked after, but can be a busy site during summer holidays. Being next to the river is great and the fact there is no club on-site dosen't detract, in fact it's a bonus. Been going for a number of years, but this will now stop as newish owners don't allow teenagers, even with families. I am at a loss to see why a 13 yr old with a family camping on-site is prohibited, especially when those who have statics or seasonal pitches seem to be able to bring any number of teenages on site and allow them all to meet up by the toilet blocks... Seems like double standards to me, but hey-ho that's the way it goes. Otherwise good site will be disappointed not to go back.

21-23 July 2003 I'm new to camping and this is the first site we have stayed at, it was a lovely little clean, tidy and quiet site, but we were there mid week so wouldn't know if it's as quiet at weekends. The toilets and showers are kept locked and you pay a £10 deposit on a key, only problem we had was our kids (2 boys and 1 girl) needing the loo at the same time. The little shop on the site isn't overly expensive for food and crisps and sweets, but don't forget your tin opener as they are £2.65!! Our kids enjoyed playing in the river and on the playground. It was great for a first time out and left us wanting to try it all again.

19/20/21st July 2003 Nice Location beside the river, Site not too crowded although can imagine that it's a bit too full on Bank Holiday Weekends. Toilets/Shower Block operated on a key system and kept clean and tidy. Entrance operated on a card system. Shop stocked with all sorts of goodies. Only real complaints were the alleged ban on teenagers as we had friends who were going to come but were put off by the teenager ban, yet we seen plenty on site. Also it had no ball games yet again-Thankfully this was'nt enforced. Park and the river (although the river was quite fast flowing in parts-supervision for young uns recommended)were great for the kids but not a lot else. Nearby Richmond and Catterick Market make excellant 1/2 day trips.

30/31 May 2003 Upon arrival reception area and shop looked very nice, with road barriers, telephone all together, it all looked very proefessional. We were soon to be disappointed by the lack of organisation by the site staff. Whilst we had booked a pitch it would seem it was a free for all. We literally had to walk around the site to find a place suitable to place the tent which was next to someone else's, as the 2 man tent there were in took up space for 2 tents. The couple were ok about this, but didn't make any amends to put there tent in a more convenient place. The park didn't quieten down until after 11pm, even then there were some kids still running around the site being very noisy. The site has 2 shower and toilet blocks. There were reasonably clean, most of the mess (i.e. toilet roll on the floor) was caused by the people who used the facilities, therefore, we couldn't blame the site staff. Also toilet roll kept running out!!!, probably because most of it was on the floor. Hairdriers cost 10p. Shop was not well stocked, but shops were only 5 minutes away by car. Dishwashing area was good with plenty of hot water. Overall site was too small for the amount of caravans and tents they had on site. Caravans had very little room and tent pitches were none existent, as I said a free for all. River was lovely and kids really enjoyed playing in the water. The childrens park was also good. The leaflet does say no over 12's allowed on site, but there were quite a few, hanging around the toilet area and shop on a night. If the Management of the site planned the pitches better and allocated upon arrival it would be a much better site. The lady on reception said to us on arrival that there is always room on site for tents, this is definately not the case. I would suggest you take a look around the site and find a place to pitch the tent before paying, if we hadn't have found the pitch were we put the tent up, we were going to leave. If you don't mind noise and cramped pitches then this site is for you. We did go during school holiday, and I suspect the site would be less packed outside of school holidays. It cost £9.50 per night, I would rather pay more money and have room to sit outside the tent and have a barbecue. Barrier and toilet key cost £10.00 deposit, which was refunded when you left. I don't think we would go again.

may 2/3/4th Lovley little site, but was a bit too full, every pitch was taken so kids were running around a bit wild. It had rained hard on the thursday and friday so pitches were muddey so toilets quickley got in a state, staff did there best. Apart from that spot on. Would go back but when less full.

Apr 2003 This was our first real camping trip and we came upon this campsite on this website.
We stayed for a couple of nights over the easter bank holiday and it only cost a total of about £20.
We found the site to be really peaceful and whilst it is only a few miles or so from the busy A1 it seemed very rural.
There is not a clubhouse on the site but there is a shallow river that runs alongside where the tent pitches are and a basic playarea that kept my two kids (12 & 4) busy for hours!!
The shower, dishwashing facilities etc were kept nice and clean but my only complaint would be that the site shop seemed to be closed a lot and it was not very well stocked. However, Richmond is only two miles up the road and there are a load of cheap pubs and takeaways.
Overall the whole family had a lovely 'quiet' time and will definetly be returning soon!
