Just came back from a long weekend at this site and was really impressed. What a great site.
The toilets and showers were clean and tidy and the showers were really hot. There is a hairdryer in the shower block which is quite useful this costs just 20p.
There is a well stocked shop on site and the take away is really handy for those nights you don't feel like cooking!
The pitch we had was by the river bank which was lovely as the weekend was a scorcher and cooled my 5 year old son down a treat.
The play park is great, we barely saw our son all weekend was too busy playing with all the new friends that he had made.
There was a slight problem with flies and midges, so take along some fly spray.
Will definitely be returning to this site in the future.

Well what can I say. What a great site. We stayed for 3 nights over the May bank holiday in our 5 man tent. The site was full, and there was a good holiday atmosphere, the weather was also a contributing factor as the sun was shining for the full 3 days, (which is always a bonus if your in a tent with a 4 year old!).
The toilets and showers were always clean and tidy, we never had to wait. They could maybe benefit from some new hand dryer's or paper towels. There are two shower / toilet blocks and washing up area's. The site had good lighting on an evening. The play area was great and fully utilised by all the children, and there were a lot. There is a shop on site which had a good selection on the shelves, it did shut at 5pm, would be nice if the shop could stay open a little later possibly till 6pm. There is a takeaway on site which was a great bonus, and the pizza's are very nice.
The site is located along side the river Swale, which is a lovely asset to this site, and children really enjoyed playing in shallow area's, it does get deeper the further in you go so be aware with the little ones.
The only down side in my opinion is the pitches are a little on the small side, however we could fit our 5 man tent with windbreak and the car at the side just, but would maybe struggle with a larger sized tent. That aside we really enjoyed this site, the staff we really helpful and friendly, and will be visiting here again.

New to Campervanning (moved up from tenting!) so went for the weekend to do a recckie of what we needed etc! The site was just the type of place we like, near the river, nice walks. Can't wait to go in the summer, by the river sounds good to me. Everything about the site suited us (we've stayed on the farm used in Heartbeat by Greengrass so we really appreciate nice showers and toilets) will go again. The dog walking area was one of the best we've used. The walk to Richmond was nice. Yes we really like the site and so did friends who came with us to try out their new campervan.
A 'definite will go again' mark in my book.

We have stayed at this site several times, as it is an easy journey from Newcastle, where we live. The site is well positioned on the river Swale, which is fun for the children to fish and throw stones in!
The site is open and flat, which is good if you have young children because it is easy to keep an eye on them. There is also a small play park, where the kids on the site tend to congregate.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, and allow the kids to help with jobs! (my 8 year old daughter tells me this.)
The site is secure; you pay a deposit on arrival to get a key for the toilet block and for the gate. The toilet block is always clean, and the showers have always been hot.
The town of Richmond is nearby, which is useful for your shopping needs. There is a Co-op, a good range of shops, cafes, takeaways, a Wetherspoons pub, and a castle! The site is only a couple of miles off the A1, and there are also 2 good large caravan/camping shops just off the A1 junction.

Just come back from a two day stay and what a fab time we had. The staff were friendly the shop was well stocked and not bad prices, there was a take away which was excellent and not bad prices. The toilets were spotless-the best we have seen. Showers are free but you pay to use the hairdryer (not a problem).
The playarea was just enough for the nine year old to use. But best of all was the river, who says you need to spend a fortune to entertain the kids. In our party there were 2 nine year old and three teenagers (and 3 adults!) and we had to pull them away for some lunch they loved throwing the rocks in, we could have spent all day there.
However if you want to go out Richmond is a lovely place to go and Catterick Market a must for a Sunday morning.
The only downside I can say about this site is the pitches are not large but it wasn't a problem for us as we were with a few people and encroaching onto their pitch was not a problem. The river will also flood in very bad weather (but only God can sort that one out)

Just got back from a weekend at this site, what can I say! The site was excellent when we arrived we were shown to our lakeview pitch. Wardens really friendly & Helpful.
The toilet block was very clean, playground excellent, we never saw our daughter for 2 days.
Fishing on site was excellent. Their was a Takeaway on site which I must say 'The Chocolate Fudge Cake' was beautiful. Would recommend this site to everyone. Only 10 minutes from the A1.
Handy for the Sunday Market in Cattrick. Planning on going back in a few weeks.

Had a lovely weekend here. The river was a big plus point and with it being really hot a god send. The kids loved it with the dinghy but you have to watch them as it can be a bit deep in places. Had a pitch right next to the river.
The only down side was the distance from the electric point on our pitch. Apparently ours and one more is like this. We have quite a long cable but with it being 4 caravans away it wasn't long enough. We had to hire one from reception. The toilets were very clean and so was the dish washing area.
There seemed to be a lot of flies when we went. It must have been in the whole area because everywhere we went the shops were sold out of fly killer! Got some eventually from a small village shop.
We would definitely go back.

My partner and I stayed here for one night when we touring around the area, the staff were very accommodating and friendly.
There is plenty of toilets and showers which were kept clean at all times and constant hot water available.
Drinking water available and a suitable wash area for cleaning the dishes too. Its all we needed, we were pitched close to the river but that didn't cause a problem when trying to sleep.
We would definitely stay here again.
The site is approx 2 miles from Richmond. We got a taxi which cost us £5 and £6.50 back as we didn't come back till gone midnight, which wasn't bad. You could walk it but some parts of the road into Richmond don't have a foot path.
Certainly recommend!

Don't really know what to make of this site.
Clean, yes. Toilets & showers were superb. Lovely location. The pitches were flat and drained well, albeit the rain we had wasn't heavy. A pretty decent site but best for using as a base as there is nothing to do on the site for older kids & teenagers.
There's supposed to be no music after 11pm and no noise at all after midnight. The staff actually went round to those in caravans/trailer tents just beforehand telling them it was time to turn in! Unfortunately those in tents are in a separate field and the staff didn't make it that far. The people in the tent next to ours had music playing well after midnight and those who were told off for being noisy were nearer to the house than we were.
I think we'll go back and give it one more try

We chose this site based on the many positive reviews, however, we would like to raise one concern that may affect other people like us (no kids, looking for peace and quiet).
The weekend we were there was absolutely jam-packed with families.
They were all having a great time, footballs flying all over the place; a guy trying to explain the laws of cricket to his 3yr old lad [what a laugh that was!]; all done of course at maximum volume.
So, if you're hoping for some rest, forget it!
Please do not take this in the wrong way - the site itself is wonderful (although just a little bit tightly packed in for my liking, and a little expensive) and if you are just starting out on the camping experience with a young family it's perfect.
But if you're a grumpy old man like me, it's just a bit too lively.
Enjoy, and continued success to this excellently run and maintained site.
