Arrived at site and were greeted courteously and shown to pitch with no fuss. Warden helped to site caravan on riverside pitch (no 116). Stayed for 10 nights (2 weekends and 1 middweek). River was unfishable due to low water levels and hordes of children who were obsessed with throwing stones and other objects into river. Very overcrowded at weekends with no privacy at all. Weekdays were fine. Toilets and showers very clean and well maintained. Cafe only open at odd times.

Just returned from a weekend at this site. We had pre-booked and paid in full before we went. When you arrive there is a £10 deposit for the barrier and toilet key which you get back when you leave. We were shown to our pitch by the river which can only be described as basic.
Very little grass and right next to the path for the river. We had very little room and the whole campsite in my opinion was very crowded and every piece of land was used to camp, whether suitable or not. There is a play area and because of the sheer volume of children, it was very busy.
Showers and toilet block were o.K. I have been better. Bins, waste disposal and taps are all in the same area. There is a drive over waste for motorhomes.
My husband and son went for the fishing, as the internet site stated great fishing, what it ommitted to say was, 'when there was enough water in the river' absolutely no way you could fish with the level of water and also the amount of children playing in the river.
This could have been a better experience if there was not as many pitches, it was just too overcrowded for the amount of land available.
If you do not mind loud, noisy site over-run with kids, then this site is for you, If like us you do not have young kids and like to relax and have peace and quiet, then my advice would be to try somewhere else. I also think it was a bit over priced at £50.00 for 2 nights.

Our family had a great time here, which was helped by the good weather weekend. Small pitches, but great community spirit and friendly helpful staff. Toilets/showers etc always clean and a great play area to entertain the kids whilst the adults put up the tent. We especially liked swimming in the shallow river that runs along the back of the site.
Good location for visiting the surrounding area, Richmond, Forbidden corner etc. Going back in July !

Stayed at this site a few weeks ago and the weather was perfect. I checked in and left a £10 deposit for the barrier key which you get back at the end of the stay. We then got shown to our pitch, although the view was perfect they wasn't much room between our unit and the next, to be honest it was a cars width where next doors where! You could hear everything!
Besides from this the site was well maintained, the toilets/showers where clean and for females you could pay 10p to plug in straighteners and 20p to use their hair dryer, however you couldn't pay x2 10p for the hair dryer it has to be the exact change.
I think the price of the site was a bit pricey for the non electric hookup and would only return if the site we prefer was fully booked,, mostly because you where jammed in together and did not have any privacy.
Also noticed there were some children who would play rugby up against the tent or would run through your picnic area to get to the river rather than go around.
I would strongly recommend this site to families though as its perfect.

Just returned from this site and have to say that overall I was not very impressed.I thought the pitch sizes were very small and they seemed to get as many people crammed on as possible at the weekend.
My main concern was the fact that as as being there with my 2 young girls, there seemed to be an awful lot of large single sex groups who were intent on drinking all day.
The play area was absolutely jam packed full of children yet there was only about 5 parents watching these kids. Toilets and shower blocks were average and the site itself was relatively tidy.

Lovely site, quite basic but very clean and well run.
Stream is great for children to play in and quite safe, there seemed to be a number of people with dinghies but current in stream is quite strong, be careful with young ones.
Good, clean toilet and shower facilities, excellent take-away on site. We stayed here with our two children and dog, site was very welcoming.
Nice children's play area which is fenced off- great for smaller children.
Strict no noise curfew after 10pm which seems to work well, will definitely visit again.

Staff were friendly and very helpful when we arrived and check in was quick and easy, we were shown to our pitch and given all the information we needed.
The setting of the site could be lovely as it backs on to the river and is surrounded by fields, however we were packed in like sardines with hardly any room to move. The site was full to capacity and there were far to many outfits.
The toilets were clean and tidy but the refuse area was overflowing and getting smelly as it was such a hot weekend.
It was handy having a shop on site and although we didn't use it, it also has a takeaway.

Check in was quick & easy, receptionist very friendly also the guy who showed us to our pitch. He showed us to our pitch which was 116 on the Riverside and helped us to site the caravan so we were facing the river which was a lovely view.
We met up with a friend who has a seasonal touring pitch at the site and we were amazed at how friendly everyone was and it was a pleasure to see families & pets outside their caravans having fun drinking & chatting even after dark. This is something we don't see much of being members of the Caravan Club!
Small shop on site and lovely takeaway that does bacon, egg, sausage buns for £1.50 each.Easier than cooking your own.
Toilets & showers were cleaned regularly and site was clean and tidy.
Departure is 12 noon but you can pay £5 and stay till 5pm.
Lovely surrounding areas of Richmond & Leyburn for days out.
Booked up again for a few weeks time, cant wait !

Just got back from the bank holiday weekend and though it was quiet cold, the site was excellent. Kids loved the playground and river bank and the walk from the camp into Richmond really warmed us up (it's about 30 to 40 Mins and our 3 year old daughter managed it with ease).
Staff were brilliant, couldn't do enough for you, was a really friendly family camp site. Toilet and shower block spotless and I cannot wait to go back.

Very good site, good for children as it has a great playground and our pitch was near to it so the kids could go and play safe and I could see them. Site staff were very friendly when we arrived and showed us to our pitch which was a lot more helpful then giving us directions. Told us where everything was and made it clear that they were there for us if we ever needed them during our stay.
Site was always clean and tidy and the staff were always around empting bins and cleaning the shower and toilet blocks. Felt safe as only campers that had booked on the site were allowed in as a pass was supplied to enter and leave the site.
The only criticism I have is we went for the Easter weekend and the shop and takeaway kept running out of stock. I thought that they would have stocked extra supplies as it was a bank holiday weekend. The takeaway staff were also very slow at serving.
