I stayed here for 1 night in early May, just me and the dog. The terraced layout is fantastic with stunning views across the valley. There is plenty of room per pitch and the picnic table provided for each pitch is excellent. This is a very clean and well kept site by the owners who are obviously very proud of it, and so they should be. Unlike a lot of sites they do not attempt to squeeze as many in as possible. The shower and toilet blocks are very spacious and clean and the small shop is well stocked. There is an absolutely superb walk from the site along the river to Appletreewick where you can enjoy a lovely pint of well poured bitter. The site is quite remote with the nearest pub being in Appletreewick about 1.5 miles away so probably wouldn't suit families with older children. The dog walking field is excellent, the best I've come across. If you want a peaceful, clean site with friendly pleasant hosts and beautiful views of the Yorkshire Dales then this site is for you. I will be returning, with the wife next time.

We went here at the weekend, as recommended by others on here. This was a first attempt at taking our 2 dogs on a caravan holiday. It was just right. It is a really lovely site - fantastic views, even though it was a little overcast. The dog-walk field was great - though I'm glad I'd taken my new walking-stick along to help me up and down the slope! The terraces are spacious and it is lovely having your own picnic bench too. We will go back, hopefully for a longer stay next time.

Spent two nights here and absolutely loved it. The picnic table per pitch was great, and each pitch seemed very spacious, with numerous clean and well-kept toilet and shower blocks around (as a side note, the showers near the bottom didn't require payment, but I think the ones at the top of the site were 20p per shower). If you don't have a car it may be a bit out of the way, as the nearest shops seem to be Grassington or Skipton, both at least 5 miles away. But I walked there and found the shop on site stocked everything I needed at reasonable prices, and with the superb location for walks in the surrounding countryside a bit of forward planning regarding meals and transport was well worth it. Overall a great site in a great countryside location with everything you could need (shop, laundry, I even saw a tent with an electrical hookup, toilets, showers etc) for a brilliant stay. I was happy to pay £5 a night (one person, one tent) to stay here.

Had a very enjoyable long weekend here. Idyllic location. Shop selling everything you could need. Facilities spotless. Liked the way every pitch had it's own wooden picnic bench. Staff very friendly and helpful. Wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. Very large dog walking area. Large play area with goal posts for the children, though perhaps some swings and slides etc for the younger ones wouldn't go a miss., having said that , our young one loved the abundance of wildlife. Cannot wait to go back.

Just come back from a weekend away at Howgill, we only live 20 miles away but what a difference. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous and the site is well hidden in a copse of trees on a hillside. The staff were very friendly and the site small but perfectly formed ! The facilities look basic but on closer inspection they have just about everything catered for with a laundry / showers and a good shop that stocks allsorts of goodies. I highly recommend the site the only drawback is there are a couple of height and width restricting features that caused me to breath in when going through them - saying that we saw much bigger motorhomes go through them no bother - guess it's down to confidence ! All in all a lovely site, nice and quiet with great views. Yes the TV reception is poor but why are you wanting to watch TV when there's all this on your doorstep

Just spent 4 nights at Howgill Lodge, What a lovely setting for a campsite. It is absolutely beautiful. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They seem to stock everything in their little shop, from milk to playing cards and fishing nets! I took my two children and my nephew and they say it was the best camping trip so far. So it has to be good. They thoroughly enjoyed trying to race the ride on lawn mower back up the hill on their scooters even though they never won. The site is very well kept, clean and tidy. The facilities are spotless, with excellent toilet facilities throughout the site. The terracing means that wherever you are your pitch is nice and flat. My dog Bob thoroughly enjoyed himself although I do have to apologise for the holes he dug whilst on site. The dog exercise field is great but not good for the dog owners having to walk back up the hill! (The kids loved it for mountain boarding down). The only slight criticism I have is having to pay for a shower. It has been such a long time since I had to do that and I forgot to take my purse to the shower. I look forward to returning in the future

Had a lovely week here in June. As stated by other members the site is lovely and clean and the owners very helpful and friendly. The showers were spotless no matter what time we used them. The pitches are lovely and big and the terraces not only let everyone share the views but also give a feeling of privacy. Sunsets are wonderful. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely visit again soon. Its a lovely walk along the river to the nearest pub (2 quite close together) which both serve lovely food. The shop on site sells everything you can think of - even the citronella candles to keep the midges at bay. (Not usually troublesome but were this time)

Terrific campsite, wonderful views from the terraced pitches, wonderfully clean and spacious showers. The owners are so helpful and cheerful and really knowledgeable about the area and places to visit. Great location for visits to Malham Cove, Fountains Abbey, Brimham Rocks, Bolton Abbey and wonderful walks over the surrounding moors

We have just returned from a wonderful weekend at Howgill. The friendly welcome and individual attention to all visitors was great. Jump leads were available for the virgin tourers that we went with!
The pitches were spacious and the terracing offers superb uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. The toilets were very clean. Great field for letting the dogs loose and also flying kites! Not suitable for children riding bikes as steepish hills on site (as my son found out as he hit a dry stone wall!)
All quiet by 11pm but early morning calls at 7am by the resident cockerel! Thanks - we will definitely be back soon!
