Stayed here last weekend of Easter holidays. Great location with lots of good walking nearby. We grabbed a local walking map (£1. 25) from the well stocked site shop and then did a great walk up to Simon's Seat.
Really good facilities, slightly pricey for this early in season but will be great value in peak season as it's flat rate all season. £21 per night for tent, car and 2 people.
Had a nice afternoon in Grassington and then did Skipton for a meal out that night.
Will definitely visit again when it's a bit warmer and try some of the other walks.

Really nice site with good views across the valley. Toilet block very clean and never had to wait. Would prefer not to have a mixed shower block but they to where kept in immaculate order with great showers.
Lovely when you can just leave them turned on not having to press a button every 20 seconds!Walked to Appletreewick along the river which is a pleasant 20 minutes stroll and visited the Craven Arms.
Drove to Grassington which luckily for us had a 1940's weekend on which was great fun. Would recommend anyone to give this site a try, we will certainly be back next year.

We arrived Sunday afternoon. Very friendly people who were all ready there. Husband and wife who run the establishment were very friendly indeed a very warm welcome. We have a young daughter and she loved it making friends with the other children.
Plenty to see and do. Loved the walking in the surrounding areas. Will be going again. All in all very pleasant site, well maintained, toilets and showers very clean.
Would recommend this site to other people.

Just returned from a pleasant week here. The site wasn't full at any point, although there were plenty of comings and goings from weekenders and those touring.
Positives
Lovely views across the dale
Well maintained facilities including a large washing up area and plenty of toilets and sinks at the top - very nicely done. Also showers and laundry area, although we were closer to the bottom block, so showered there.
Good selection of tourist information leaflets, so you can work out where best to explore. This is really necessary as certainly there was very little mobile phone reception. This to my mind was a good thing as it really makes you relax!
Excellent showers - not necessarily the smartest you will come across, but hot water at all times of day even when busy and with the added benefit of just having an on/off tap rather than those push the button contraptions.
Well kept pitches and very quiet, apart from the last night (Fri) when the holiday masses arrived and we realised how much we had enjoyed the peace and tranquility!
Chickens - lovely to have around, but as you can imagine can become a little irritating, especially when you have a two year old who got scared of them after they took a sandwich out of her hand!
Little shop for essentials was handy especially as there isn't anywhere close by.
Fridges and freezers for use - I've been refused to freeze blocks in some sites so this was a welcome sight.
Negatives
Relatively minor really
There are a number of bins dotted around the site, with two main rubbish areas at the top and bottom. Either everyone was drinking like a fish or the owners had forgotten to do the bin run during the week, which wasn't a big deal but looked a bit untidy.
When it was very wet on the morning we were leaving I'm afraid the facilities got in a bit of a state, which was understandable due to weather and also the influx of the school holiday rush. More the behaviour of people not mopping/sweeping up after themselves - it was fine the rest of the week we were there.
Only one sink in the bottom shower block - really for hand washing and brushing teeth, but having to interrupt someone who is shaving to wash your hands after using the toilet seemed a bit silly. Again it's not a big thing and there isn't any room for another sink - just needs people to be a bit considerate.
Other notes
As others have mentioned it is a bit tricky getting in and out, so those in larger campers or towing might not feel brave enough. Roads are quite tight and there are a few Speedy Gonzalez around. Not an issue for us with our tent, but worth noting.
Plenty of relatively local things to do. Husband took the walk up to Simons seat. We went for a walk up to Malham Cove on a good day and on a not so great day went further afield to Aysgarth and Hawes. Also trips out to Skipton and Fountains Abbey. Can recommend the Red Lion in Burnsall for food.
So all in all a good solid site with good facilities which is worth a visit.

Just returned from a four night stay over the Tour de France weekend. Despite the site being full it remained peaceful and the spotless loos / showers / dishwashing areas were more than adequate.
The views are glorious and well worth the journey.
A very friendly welcome and a useful small shop makes this a perfect site. Already planning to return.

Visited Howgill Lodge with 2 other families, comprising of 5 adults and 5 girls 11, 7, 7, 6 and 4.
Excellent welcome on site by the friendly owners. Beautiful site with terraced views over the valley. Large pitches, immaculately kept site with spotless facilities. Very handily placed for local sights and had a lovely walk down to The Craven Arms where we had a very nice meal.
Being in The Dales it rained, naturally, but we still managed 5 excellent days fun with our girls who could wander about the site freely. Small shop selling essentials on site which is a bonus.
Would return in a heartbeat, John, Trish and Olivia

Firstly, I must comment on the road to the campsite. I believe this has been mentioned previously, the road is not for the faint hearted, with tight corners and narrow roads. That said, the view upon reaching the site is worth it.
On reaching the site, you are greeted by the owners, who require the money before pitching, slightly off putting, but as they are running a business, I guess this can be forgiven.
You are then taken to your pitch by the owner, who is very helpful and will help you pitch if required.
Site is well laid out on a terrace system, with the main toilet and shower block to the entrance of the site, extra shower and toilets are lower down the sloped road, with further toilets near the tent area.
Plenty of water points, bins and recycling dotted around the site.
Small site shop, which had essentials.
Laundry facilities with a washing line - really nice touch.
Spotlessly clean.
Hens running around, which are great to watch, with fresh eggs available from the shop.
Lovely location of a quite walking weekend.
£25 a night for four people.
I would visit this site again.

Stayed 10 nights here. Absolutely perfect setting and good roomy pitches. Hens and ducks wander freely. Free range eggs for sale at better than supermarket prices and shop has a few other treats/supplies including bacon and bread. What else is needed. Terraced pitches some with ehu and TV. Showers and loos adequate and very clean. We were there early Sept 2013 and site was fairly quiet. Really in the dales. Only warning it is on side of hill so nearly all pitches need an up or downhill short walk to facilities. Great selection of pubs nearby serving decent grub. Will certainly return.

The setting for this site is absolutely stunning, the views are the best we have encountered from a campsite and these views are maximised by the clever terracing of the site - caravans on the higher terraces with tents lower down. The tent pitches are more attractive as the caravans are sited on gravel with no grass - but the views more than made up for that.
This is not a site for those new to, or lacking confidence in towing! You have to drive through a narrow arch, over a single track hump back bridge and then encounter narrow lanes - but boy is it worth it!
There is a friendly atmosphere on site - one small group did play loud music but turned it off at 9pm just as I was ready to go and politely tell them my children were trying to sleep! Otherwise the site is peaceful and it is lovely seeing chickens and ducks roam freely. There is a great field for dogs to have a run while owners can soak in the view. The toilet block next to reception looks brand new and was spotless. The shower block was much more dated but clean and actually very well equipped - each room has it's own hairdryer, mirror, shaving point and lots of hooks. The showers are warm and the temperature can be controlled which is great when showering children. The area is amazing - we did a beautiful walk around Malham incorporating the cove, the limestone pavement above and then across to Gordale Scar and Janet's foss waterfall. Our 6 and 9 year olds loved it! We also went to Bolton abbey and then to the Yorkshire Dales Icecream farm where they have an american style diner with delicious food and fantastic indoor and outdoor play areas - the barn is full of hay bales and rope swings and our girls loved it! We looked at a couple of other sites in the area including one in the nearby village where the tents were crammed in (Masons) - we would definitely return to this site as I certain we will return to this beautiful corner of the dales.
