Our overall opinion is that this is a very good site with the potential to be probably the best site within West Sussex. As an angler we opted for a premium fishing pitch and balanced our time between days out and quality angling time - the fishing was very good, the bream seem to be in all areas and come onto the feed pretty quick, carp did not seem that prolific, but everyone seemed to catch what where larger, hence wiser specimens. Not been able to use keep-nets I can only guess the weights I caught - I would think that I caught 40-50lbs of bream and skimmers during a day session and 20lbs during evenings after a day out. I didn't fish the smaller pond, but I was told smaller carp came out a-plenty. I did notice that the small pond acted as a magnet for kids, some of which made a nuisance of themselves despite the sites "No unsupervised Kids" rule. Pitches around the lake are pretty flat and well drained - we had a deluge on the Wednesday night but there was no standing water or boggy ground the next morning. The lake area is serviced by showers and toilets within a specially designed portacabin and they are very clean and comfortable despite our initial reservations from spotting them. Speaking to one of the wardens, we learned that there are plans to erect a permanents facility matching the one on the main camping area - this would make the area fantastic indeed. The lake is a very picturesque area to pitch and we are glad we paid the extra premium. There was one area that concerned me though, and that was pitches 7 thru 10, where it appeared that any number of unserviced tents would be pitched between you and the lake - whether these are classed as premium pitches or not I don't know, but you should be aware of this fact. The site is within a very beautiful area, you feel a s though you are heading into the back of beyond but in reality you are only 2-3 miles from main road links for your days out. We only had two very small criticisms: You are charged the full day rate for fishing if you fish in the evening after a day out (£6 for 1 rod, £8.50 for 2) and there was no tourist information (leaflets etc) on site, you have to travel the five miles into Horsham for details on local attractions, most sites that I have visited of this calibre usually have this facility. Overall, this is a fantastic site for those wishing to combined their holiday with some quality fishing and we would indeed visit again when in West Sussex. Steve & Gina on tour 2006

Stayed here for 3 nights in July at a premium lakeside pitch, £22 per night but well worth it just for the location. The setting is beautiful! If you are a keen fisherman this is definitely the place to camp; my husband caught around 15 fish all over 10lb. They have created a ampitheatre on the lakeside and whilst we were there the local childrens dramatic society put on a show, 'A midsummers nights dream' which was excellent; Small shop on site sells the basics plus fishing baits etc and there is a Spar shop a few minutes walk away. The local pub also a few minutes walk away is very good but gets very busy at the weekends so its advisable to book if you want to eat there.

The previous reviews are quite correct and this is a lovely site suitable for both the angler and the holidaymaker, but it is particularly geared up with the angler in mind. The touring field is separated from the lake field by an overflow or rally field, only a short distance, but enough to make sure one doesn't encroach on the other. The lake field is not just for anglers though, so you have a choice of whichever field you wish. There are plenty of available 'swims' (an angling term for the non-anglers reading this) around the two lakes apart from the premium pitches which are directly alongside the big lake with their own swims. The premium pitches are available for either tents or caravans which in itself is a welcome bonus for those of us under canvas who are often treated as an afterthought! The facilities are as previously described. Exceptionally clean and tidy. There is a modern brick built facility in the touring field. The neat but daunting looking portacabin hidden among trees in the lake field is very deceiving and on entering I discovered showers and toilet facilities on a par with some top class hotels. The modern electric showers were very posh with folding glass doors behind a curtain for extra privacy. My old shower over the bath at home will never feel quite the same again! The site is advertised as 'peaceful' and I suppose for the most part it is, but it is worth mentioning that it is directly under the flight path into Gatwick airport and there are regular flights of a few minute intervals with long breaks in between. Just beyond the site the planes turn right (or should that be starboard?) to line up for the airport approach and seem to throttle up or throttle down, or whatever planes do before turning. I am a regular complainer about noise on campsites, particularly road noise, but on this occasion I found the gentle hum of jet engines soon blended in with the general hum of activity and was rather preferable to the Chinook helicopters which train around the area I live! Talking of trains, there is also a railway line running alongside the campsite, but being British Rail they are few and far between and a large grassy bank dampens any excess noise. I have to give praise to the family and staff that run this site. They seem to work non-stop from dawn till dusk and the lady doing the cooking in the small cafe produces some of the best all day breakfasts I've eaten in a long time, which is more than I can say for the local pub (a 5 minute walk away) which produced one of the worst cooked steaks I've attempted to eat in many a year. Perhaps the chef was having an off day! Call me old fashioned but I was also a little annoyed with the constant sound of the carp angler's bite alarms (this annoys me wherever I go fishing). I've never really accepted that casting out a bait then going for a cup of tea and waiting for a fish to tell you it has hooked itself is proper fishing but it seems to be the modern way of catching them. All in all, a lovely little site which is still under some development. I sincerely hope the owners shy away from making it too commercial.

When we arrived at the site we were greeted by Eddie who told us where everything was. We found the site was immaculate, lovely showers and very clean. We had a nice pitch, right opposite the toilets and the childrens play area and we found lots of nice places to ride our bikes and plenty of space for the kids to play. The stock in the shop is quite limited, but the shop down the road sold most things. We stayed for 3 nights, although the site was lovely would not have wanted to stay much longer because there wasn't much else for the kids to do.

Nice enough site, but some of the reviews seem rose tinted. For a family of four with two fishing two rods in the busier time of the year its nearly forty quid a night! Which is a bit rich for portaloo facilities. Lets not carried away, whilst I appreciate its proximity to London is a core factor, can it really justify being more expensive than White acres! Suffers for being too busy, the owners cram in units.I questioned the proximity and was told 1m between units is the minimum, though most seemed to be 3 to 4 metres. Unless you are up at 6am or before you can struggle to find a swim, as at weekends day ticket anglers seem to descend en masse.

This was a wonderful relaxing, quiet site, with a little pub just over the road, along with a small well stocked village shop. There's a shop on site too, but we didn't need to use this - apart from ice creams! Owners were very friendly and helpful, pointing out everything we needed to know on arrival, but they kept a fairly low profile so you didn't feel like you were being watched over! The showers were beautifully clean, never had to queue, despite the site appearing quite full. My only slight niggle is that I couldn't get any hot water in the washing up room, but I certainly wouldn't make an issue of that. Lots of lovely woodland walks which our 12 and 10 year old kids loved - streams to jump over and trees to climb. There is an small amphitheatre at the site, where they have functions sometimes. We were lucky to enough to turn up when a local children's drama group put on an unforgettable production of Midsummer Night's Dream, which was a really excellent bonus to a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Will definitely be going back.

Just returned from an amazing weekend trip with my son Jack. I had read all the reviews before going and knew we were going to a great place. However it is the place of a very special weekend for me and Jack. We pitched in our two man bivvy in the field by the lake and as one review said it is a fantastic sight emerging from your tent in the bright sunshine early morning to look across the big lake. We fished the smaller lake and had some really good fishing. Both lakes were fishing well and its well worth a visit just for the fishing alone. The portacabin toilets and showers were really clean and very convenient for where we were pitched. No washing up facilities in the lake field at present but a two minute walk to the main field and a well maintained two sink washing up room was available. This field also had the children's play equipment and this looked to have plenty of keen youngsters making use of it. There was also a rally field that was well used, mainly by tents this weekend. The Chalet is a convenient place to get cold or hot drinks and serves hot food during the day when it is open ( 10 am to 4 pm approx). It also has some basic fishing bait supplies (Boilies , Pellets, etc). We went for a walk on the Friday night up to the new match lake. This looks a good lake but we didn't see it fished. There were matches on both Saturday and Sunday. Whilst we were walking back down the track to the site from the lake we saw two deer in tha adjacent field. Ok nothing new there you may say but with the surrounding area it was an amazing sight when you are used to cars and noise at home. We also made use of the Queens Head which is about a 5 minute walk from the site. This pub welcomes children up to 9 pm and has a beer garden with some play equipment in it at the rear. The staff and locals were really friendly and the food was good quality. All in all a top site and a fantastic weekend. We will certainly return.

Lovely site with great facilities and delightful, helpful wardens. Quiet during the week and livelier at the weekends.
The shower/toilet block in the area where the wardens' home is, is very new, heated and extremely clean. In the same block, there are washing up facilities, a very tall fridge and a fridge-freezer on one side and laundry facilities on the other side.
The fishing looked good, although we have no experience of fishing so cannot comment from a personal perspective.
The setting was idyllic with two ponds in the area we were in, one smaller and one larger one. The pitches were spacious and electric hook-ups well situated. Reception also had a cafe, which we sampled and the food and drinks were both good.
There was a woodland walk, which my children enjoyed tremendously - I didn't actually get on the walk myself in the end. We were having a holiday visiting a friend who lived locally, so we didn't spend as much time on the site as we usually would.
On the whole, a fantastic site which I would highly recommend.

Absolutely brilliant site. I can't add much more than everyone else has said already. The cleanest shower blocks I have ever used. Very helpful wardens. It is such a relaxing and picturesque site. My OH thought he was in heaven when he saw the pitches next to the lake so you can have your own place for fishing. Came home and booked straight away for a lakeside pitch for July, which by the way has a brand new portacabin type shower block and loos. We had a look inside and it was amazing.
We were in the main site away from the lake which had a very small play area for children and was nicely laid out, with woodland walks behind the site. We had a breakfast cooked by Lorna which was brilliant and a reasonable price. Before we went home we went to the pub, which is only a 5 minute walk, and had a lovely cooked meal. The staff in the pub were very friendly and welcoming. The meals were reasonable prices. Highly recommend it.

What can we say? The campsite is beautiful. The shower and toilet blocks are immaculate, especially the one with underfloor heating. The separate shower cubicles make all the difference too. This is the perfect campsite for those who want to get away from it all. It is especially good for those who wish to get away from children, as this is primarily a fishing site and therefore has regulations for noise and disturbance. When we arrived we were greeted with friendly staff who showed us to our plot. We will definitely be visiting again, as this is the best camp site we have ever visited.
