We stayed at Sumners Pond on 23rd & 24th August and this was our kids first proper camping trip.
I have to say the staff were brilliant and personally showed us to our pitch.
The site has great facilities for washing, etc and these we spotless at all times.
The part of the site we stayed on had the playing field in the middle which suited our 8 and 9 year olds perfectly. They had a free run of the play park and of the surrounding forest paths. The fishing was also great fun for our son who was ecstatic at catching his first fish!
My only negative would be that the site is under the flight path for Gatwick (although the noise wasn't noticeable past 11pm). I have to highly recommend the local pub (Queens Head) for food - it is beautiful!

We have just returned from a weekend at Sumners Ponds and had a brilliant time. This site is not your usual farmers field with hose pipe in the corner. If you want beautiful scenery etc AND good facilities then this is the campsite to choose.
The site appears to be broken up into three sections. The first section is the lakeside area. This is the most picturesque part of the site and right next to the shop and restaurant. This section is not suitable for loud families because of the fishing, but for couples it is perfect. The geese poo is the only negative thing I can think off
The second field is about 100 yards away and is the family field. The pitches are set up in a big circle with a children's play area in the middle. There is also a football pitch next door to the field.
The third field looks to be more of an overflow field and is a cross between the other two fields i. E. Near to two lakes/ponds and only 50 yards from the play areas in the other field.
All three fields are split between hard and grass pitches, and the majority of them have EHU.
The toilet/shower facilities in the lakeside field and the family field are good and spotlessly clean. The overflow field shares the facilities with the other two fields.
One of the best things about the site is the cafe/restaurant. From 9am you can buy a top quality full English breakfast. During the day they sell cafe style food such as burgers etc and then from 7. 00pm it is a restaurant (on Fri/Sat). The food we had in the restaurant was excellent and good value for money.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful.
There are lots of walks and rides in the nearby forests. There is a brilliant little village shop and pub about 10minutes walk away.
The cost of staying here was slightly higher than we are used to : from memory it was £11. 00/pitch plus £4/adult, but it was definitely value for money. We will be going back soon.
The previous reviewer slated the site because the WiFi wasn't working. To me this isn't an essential thing for relaxing and camping in the middle of the countryside, but if you have important work to do then simply ring up first to make sure it is working.

We've just returned from a 4 night stay at this site. We chose it because it met the specific criteria we had for the week:
- roughly equidistant between Hever Castle and Legoloand;
- child friendly;
- wi-fi available.
No problem on the first two. The family went off to both target destinations and had good fun at both. During the day I stayed behind to work on my laptop and made enjoyable trips to the village shop each lunchtime, which was a treat. The pub next door was a delight on our final evening too. And no site review would be complete without saying that the toilet block was OK too!
But item 3 on our list of requirements turned out badly. I am fed up with campsites advertising wi-fi and then not actually bothering to make sure it works. If I had known that the wi-fi was unreliable or, as was the case this week, not working at all, either I'd have stayed at home or we'd have gone somewhere else.
I was just about able to manage with my mobile broadband dongle but it's no substitute for the kind of connection the advertising suggested I could expect.

Had a single night stay at this site. The staff were very friendly (they let us book for a Saturday only). Our pitch was great, flat with mains hookup. The site was set in lovely surroundings including fishing lakes if you're that way inclined.
The local shop has everything you may require as a top up and the local pub was great with an open fire (good to take the chill off your bones. The surrounding area is very pretty and the nearest town (Horsham) is a fab little market town.

I am here at the site now and have been here for the last two days. It is a very impressive site. There are a number of lakes for those into fishing and the views are spectacular. For bird watchers it is a real treat. The staff are super friendly. About 5 minutes walk away is a great pub with a wood fire and next to that a village store selling most things you would require. The toilet and show blocks are heated nicely. Another camper made a joke saying he would be sleeping in the toilet block since it was so toastie. Great site and good prices. If you go to the pub for dinner, make sure you have a good appetite because the portions are huge and quality is good.

Lovely rural site, if you can get on it. We have tried many times and more often than not have not been able to book. Don't leave a message on the answer phone as no-one calls you back - probably because they're full. Still, it's worth it when you can get there.
Facilities are good and there are some great walks around the area. It's worth getting a lakeside pitch, really special. Plan well ahead (several weeks at least) to reserve your pitch.
Horsham is not far away and the coast is about 1/2 hour (plus finding car parking eg in Brighton).

Just returned from 5 days at Sumners Ponds our first camping trip in 20 yrs. First pitch was behind reception did not fancy this as lots of kids playing around the area, had pitch in main field, very good site.
Showers clean and warm, but a pain having to keep turning them on! Shop on site very expensive. Site more geared to fisherman but very pleasant surroundings. Staff very helpful and accommodating.
Lots of wasps which become a real nuisance but this is not the fault of the site. Dog friendly plenty of walks. Local pub and village shop within walking distance.

We were a group of 6 mums and 14 children between us and spent 2 nights here in the main camping area, as it was end of summer holidays it was fairly quite, we didn't have to wait for the showers or washing up, the facilities were excellent including use of two large fridge freezers in the washing up room so no need for your own fridge if the camp is not too busy.
As the kids were mainly under 6 years the main campsite was fantastic with our tents around the playground and be able to walk into the woods and 10 mins walk to the village shop which was great.
We did not visit the pub but a few if us purchased ice creams and breakfast from the on-site shop which was good food.
The EHU bollards have lights on after dusk which is great and the toilets were all heated which was really good as the evenings were cold. We all had a great time and would definitely return again

Spent 5 days here towards the end of August. Unfortunately chose the worst week of weather possible, and woke on the last morning to an almost empty site. However, the site was well drained, and we stayed dry if not a little muddy.
The welcome was friendly, and Dan the warder was very helpful, especially when dealing with some noisy neighbours late at night! The Card reader at reception did not function on arrival, and had to use several cards before we could get one accepted (yes we did have money in the accounts).
The shower/toilet facilities are a little run down, and don't resemble the photos in the brochure. The showers however were superbly powerful and of a good, constant temperature. To echo previous comments, 2 showers for a site of this size is inadequate, and an extra 2 would be ideal.
The local shop and pub are good local/rural facilities, and larger supermarkets are close by. The site shop is really geared for fishing and not so much camping, so the local shop proved very useful.
Overall the site is lovely, and the location beautiful. I would use the site again.

Spent 6 nights at Sumners Ponds. Booking in was busy as this is also part of the shop.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our pitch was behind the reception which had the amphitheatre hill side behind our tent, problem with this was children found this fun to ride their bikes down which resulted in our tent being hit a number of times.
Site was very clean and tidy and the facilities were in good order. The site could do with extra toilet blocks as by the end of the week the site got busy and we had to wait to use on a number of occasions and with 10 people in our group it caused a few problems.
Longest wait was about 20 mins. We had a few days fishing and was pleased with the results, they have some great fish in the lakes.Even the children caught their first fish.
Bailiff was great and very helpful.
The general prices in the shop are some what pricey, so take lots of spare change. Overall we all had a good time and would go back more for the fishing than the camping but a lovely site for family camping.
